Yes it was. The Philippines was gaining momentum to economic recovery after the Edsa Revolution when the project was conceptualized. I still remember a full page ad in a magazine back then with Pacific Plaza's rendition and the caption "This is how the Philippines tallest building would look like." It really looked very tall since at that time, ang katabi nitong Ritz Towers at Twin Towers seemed very tall already.

I remember those ads but Pacific Plaza wasn't the only building that claimed to be the tallest at that time. Rufino Pacific Tower and Paladium Summit (now Summit One) also had "Philippines tallest" in their ads too. By 1993, the tallest buildings in official order were Rufino Pacific Tower, Pacific Plaza and The Peak. Paladium Summit went on hold as early as that time and was not counted despite the completed shell.

This got a lot of people including me hooked on skyscrapers ever since this baby was built. Back then no building in the philippines could compare to it. It was absolutely massive back then. Even the Galleria Corporate center looked huge in those days.

I was amazed at this tower when it was built during the 90's one of the first few towers to reach level 40. Popular in the early 90's is postmodern style and this tower is one example. It stands among the rest in the exclusive apartment block of Ayala Avenue but probably a few years from now it would be engulfed by Primea tower though I'm not sure of the name that replaced the Gillarmi Apartments. My vote 8/10.

i agree its look like 80's design 30 years after they should design more futuristic imho..building designs in the philipppines are more conservative only a handful are iconic.
