Is traffic heavier heading towards Baltimore, Washington or is it about equal?

The traffic is about equal, but, as far as I know, congestion on the Capitol Beltway is significantly worse than anything you would find in Baltimore.

Couldn't you just look this up on google?

DC's is worse overall. The DC MSA sprawls more and you have bottlenecking are longer distances away from DC than you do around Baltimore. Also, the DC MSA is a bit less centralized, so you've got traffic caused by different nodes around the area.

In the morning, it's heavier driving toward Washington, in the evening, heavier driving toward Baltimore.

2 hours sometimes in the evening from DC to Baltimore.

Baltimore really has no major traffic issues.

I agree.

So do I. I used to work in D.C. while living in Baltimore City and it was, to say the least, dreadful.

Most of the Traffic coming from Baltimore are commuters going to work in DC or Northern Virginia.

Traffic is very heavy heading to DC in the morning and back from DC to Baltimore in the afternoon like many have said on here already because so many people in Bmore work in DC.

I head to work in Baltimore around 515 or so every morning and the traffic heading south and east on 695 on the southwest side toward 95 to go to DC is already steady. It often starts backing up by 6:30.

I'd say DC's Beltway is more congested, especially at odd hours. Last night there was plenty of slow traffic, some of which is because of lots of cars and the way it is built with all the twists and turns causes problems as well.

Baltimore has serious bottleneck problems that need to be addressed immediately, particularly the beltway on the west side where the triple bridges are for I-70. That needs to all be redone.

If they start to develop more Office Development along the I-95/US 29 Corridor(between MD 100 and the Laurel/Burtonsville area) then the traffic Bottlenecking at the I-495 Beltway will tapper down alot and help employ the white collar commuters in the Baltimore area.

As others have said, traffic towards DC is heavy in the morning and away from DC is heavy in the evening. The problem is the Beltway.

Still, I've been stuck many a times in the morning at White Marsh between Elkton and Baltimore. I've occasionally been stuck heading towards DC from Baltimore near the first Towson exit, usually in the afternoons.

How do you think the ICC will affect things?

How do you think the ICC will affect things?

It will be a very nice Alternative Access to the I-270/MD 355 Corridor instead of using the Beltway and the Side Roads full of stop lights and narrow winding roads.

I also had the same commute for a while. A really bad day would be when the tail end of the rolling backup would be north of Rt. 100!!
