View Full Version : Better Skyline: CBD or Brickell
coruna March 13th, 2007, 05:46 AM When all the buildings currently under construction are complete, which part of the skyline will be more impressive? Brickell (bounded by: Miami River to the north, Biscayne Bay to the east, I-95 to the west, and SE 26th Road to the south) or the CBD (bounded by: Miami River to the south, Biscayne Bay to the east, I-95 to the west, and I-395 to the north)? Note that a completed Met 3 should be included in your opinion, but proposed buildings such as the EWT and One Bayfront Plaza should not.
When I say impressive, I am talking about the height of the buildings, the density, and the number of buildings without a space in the skyline.

coruna March 13th, 2007, 09:55 PM I'm sorry, I did not mean to post another thread like kevin22 did a few days ago.....not asking "What is the better city?" or anything like that, it's just a poll on the opinions around here on the buildings in the different sections of Miami.
I agree....by 2012 the CBD will be the clear winner over Brickell, but right now they are about even....Chuck, could you give me the height of the 600 Freedom Condo Tower? It is currently approved but construction hasn't started....will it be a very tall building or a shorter infill-type project under 40 floors?

Coruna:) , My friend,
" 600 Freedom Tower " condo was Approved by the City of MIAMI in December, 2005,and selling to South American countries like pancakes !!!
Approved at 62 floors , at 650 Feet and way over the MarinaBlue condo tower,
It will be Built as soon as the 900 Biscayne Tower is COMPLETED and finally moved the 900 sales center out of the 600 Freedom Tower site, with the railroad tracks also removed at the site,
!!!
but won't get started till late 2008, and be completed around 2013.
P.<. Everyone , I Believe and Know the TERRA Group will build this tower and save the freedom tower with a Huge blanket protecting the freedom tower from any Debris and flying trash or wood coming down accidentantly from the construction tower .
It will be under construction in my dreams of 2012, but just not completed.
arch photographer March 13th, 2007, 11:37 PM ok Chuck

ARCH Photo:) , my friend,
Approved by the City of MIAMI at 68 floors, The Tallest of the MIAMI Wall
at 758 feet, thats' why 900 Biscayne Tower is IMO at 712 feet STILL ,
we just have to wait and see how high 900 biscayne tower reallly goes.
arch photographer March 14th, 2007, 02:15 AM But will PPark happen and if so when? I also heard that 600 was selling aggressively in S America, where is PPark selling?? Dubai lets hope.
Dankbuds September 27th, 2008, 07:49 PM ^^good point. does anyone have pics of miami downtown from the west with the new buildings and such?
xerxesjc28 September 28th, 2008, 05:41 AM If you had not said building height I would have said easily the CBD. The CBD has an enormous amount of street life while a lot of Brickell just does not feel right in terms of street life, and walkability (I don't think that is a word lol).
To many of Brikell's building have like driveways out front so that the buildings are not right up to the sidewalk. The reason that matters is that by having the building be right up to the sidewalk you can have retail, restaurants, coffee shops easily accessible to passing pedestrians.
This is true of at least the parts I have seen, and I'm sure is not 100% the case.
I'll answer your question now, instead of getting off on a tangent. I would say the CBD at the moment and after construction. I would have to look at the renderings but I do believe most construction is occurring North of the Miami River, am I right?
