Hi guys, please post your city's downtown area with some tourist attractions marked on it!

the rule is simple, just post a picture with same scale as mine (1000m). for mega cities/sprawl cities, you can post up to 3 pictures(keep the scale same!)....but 4 is too much!

Ok, i'll start with Kuala Lumpur.......

Not a bad downtown for a city of 155,000.

(Anything labelled is anything worth being labelled)

Noth american downtowns are a sea of parking space and some towers, just look at Ontario pic...with the exception of the big cities of course.

I see parking space as a good thing. What's wrong with it?

I'd say it's convenient! :okay:

And African and South American downtowns are totally ignored. What about Oceanic ones?

Anyway, many American downtowns are excellent.

Sorry for the double post

That's kind of true, it really depends on what cities you're talking about. Many of the bigger cities dont have THAT mass of parking spaces, they're usually organized into garages (like many other cities around the world) but many of the smaller cities certainly follow that model (~100,000)

That "Ontario pic" is a city of less than 200,000.

Many North American cities have transit ridership comparable with European ones actually. But yeah, as a whole there is still more transit usage in Europe.

Most of Detroit's central business district. Not pictured are the RenCen and the dense Greektown entertainment district which is off the right of the picture

note as part of the Campus Martius plan (http://campusmartiuspark.com/) the red lots represent areas cleared and slated for development (the rights to develop the larger red square, known as the Hudson's or Woodward Block, have already been given to a local company and should have an announcement soon). The blue parcel has already been developed into a modern office building 10 stories on top of an underground parking garage. The green parcel is a mixed used (retail, parking, 80 condos) to support the redevelopment of the historic Book Cadillac hotel next door.

Also note that the two large surface lots across the street from one another directly north(west-ish) to the Hudson block have both been replaced with buildings. One with an absolutely georgeous and huge 4 story state of the art YMCA and the other will a Parking facility (a quite attractive one) with ground floor retail to support the restores Detroit Opera House

here's a pic of what the blue parcel will look like

The following is the downtown (relatively sizable for medium sized suburb) of one of the most wealthy communities in Metro Detroit and the country. It's where alot of upper class botique shopping can be done and has most of the higher end downtown ammenities, it is about 5-7minutes from where I grew up

^That's a really out-dated photo. Millenium Park isn't even on there, and LSE is still a golf course.
