Very good thread AdemA, I have to say that on the roof of the tower we will see the port of Bilbao, situated at 15 km of the center of the city.

Hello everyone. I was told about this thread so I thought it might be a good idea to post some pictures of the area here.

Actually there's not too much to say about the construction of the tower (the hole just keeps growing deeper and deeper) but the pictures look great, and they can be useful to make yourselves an idea about the progress of the works in the area.

I took them on a really sunny and blue-skyed day, so everything looks really beautiful :)

As you may know from this thread, a new Main Library is being built for the private University of Deusto. It's design is by spanish award winnig arquitect Rafael Moneo, using opaque glass to cover the facade. Here you can see a housing building near to the library.

Por fin podemos decir que la Torre Iberdrola ya ha superado la cota cero! Los trabajos de la misma ya son visibles a nivel de calle y ya se pueden apreciar desde todo el contorno de la Plaza Euskadi y zonas cercanas.


Uno de los elementos más visible es el andamiaje que se ha colocado al sur del núcleo, justo donde irá la estructura de acceso al rascacielos desde la futura plaza.

A partir de este punto la obra incrementará su velocidad de manera apreciable llegando a levantar una planta por semana. Este ritmo no será tan elevado en los primeros niveles, por lo que podríamos ver la estructura llegar a cota máxima (165 metros) a finales de año. Solo la fachada acristalada tendrá un coste de unos 25 millones de euros y se irá colocando según la estructura comience a coger altura. Los residenciales de Ferrater, como podeis obsevar, continúan en stand by.

Yes it is! The heliport on the top is built.
I guess the status has to be changed in this thread's title.

This photo was posted on march 18th in the basque forum, here you can see it was already topped out by then (although the heliport was not finished yet).

We dont have a downtown like american and main european cities. Our bussines district is a mix residencial/office building area and its where the tower is located (the city centre basically)

Hace 10 dias o asi fui a bilbao por la noche y estaba la torre iluminada entera y el saque alguna foto con el movil, la calidad no es muy buena, primero por que la camara del movil no es muy buena y segundo por que de noche peor todavia, pero bueno yo dejo aqui la foto.

Aunque en las fotos y con toda la torre encendida apenas se aprecian las luces rojas en persona son bastante vistosas. ¿Se supone que esas luces son para los aviones o algo asi?
