dysan1 April 21st, 2007, 01:10 PM aggg no. only seeing this one now. good to see more development still coming to the cbd, but this one is just ghastly. Looks so ugly 80s
Mo Rush April 21st, 2007, 02:16 PM a hideous alien nature creature
anyway, the Cape Town Partnership are calling for taller buildings, increased CBD density, more affordable inner city residential projects amongst other things
the two 26f buildings will hopefully add some "height" to the cbd skyline
dysan1 April 22nd, 2007, 10:25 PM ^^ what two 26F buildings?

R24bn CBD revamp set for 2010
R24bn set to revamp city centre
By Linsday Dentlinger
As much as R24 billion worth of infrastructural development is expected in the inner city over the next three years, ranging from Green Point to Woodstock, according to the Cape Town Partnership.
It says that in the first three months of this year, more developments have been facilitated through its offices than the total number in the past eight years of its existence.
"It's big stuff," Partnership chief executive Andrew Boraine said.
"These new projects are going to make the last seven years look quite tame."
Leaving aside the Green Point Stadium, costing R2.85bn, the R7bn Waterfront expansion and transport upgrades, the Partnership expects that new developments, mostly in the private sector, will bring in about R12bn in investment in the city centre precinct.
The biggest project in the pipeline for now is "Strand-on-Adderley", which spans three city blocks. It includes the demolition of the Woolworths and Old Mutual centres on opposite corners of the Strand and Adderley intersection, andthe building of two new 26-storey buildings in their place.
waltjie April 24th, 2007, 12:35 PM Not the nicest building ive seen at all.... ewwwhhhh! :ohno:
Jakes1 April 24th, 2007, 01:43 PM Did they stray far from the original plans? or are my eyes just lying to me? A bit of an 80's duckling, I kinda like the understated look. But unfortunately it looks very very very budget. from the outside at least
thryve April 26th, 2007, 02:03 AM Definitely not what the rendering promised. At all.
Mosi-oa-Tunya August 2nd, 2007, 07:16 PM Dysan,
The name of this Urban Hip Hotel has been renamed the Circa to replace the former name Rijckshof, an Afrikaans word that is hard to pronounce let alone try to spell. Anyway I like the name Circa as do the owners and go ahead and rename the thread as such.
