28 projects get €20mn in incentives
The Portuguese Tourism Institute has approved €20 million worth of incentives for 28 tourism projects falling under the sector programme SIVETUR - Sistema de Incentivos a Produtos Turísticos de Vocação Estratégica (incentives for tourism products with a strategic vocation). The projects represent total investments (incentives and promoter capital) of more than €40 million for Nature Tourism, Sustainable Tourism, Tourism Amenities and restoration and adaptation of classified heritage sites. Seven approved projects are in the Faro district. The largest project is in Viseu where €5.5 million will be invested in building Mortágua pleasure boat harbour and the 5-star Penalva do Castelo hotel. In Faro €4.9 million is being invested across seven projects involving boating, agro-tourism, golf courses and nature trails, among others.
