Wow, my favourite Chinese city!
Great looking tower, wish it gets built quickly.

I knew next to nothing about this city until I saw it here. I'm reading up on it now and looking at some images -- this city has a long, albeit painful, history but there's a history here... Some of the older buildings around Zhongshan Square look really interesting. :cheers:

Cut and paste of 大连市 (Dalian's) up and coming 超高层 (supertalls).

Based on approximate height and width comparisons to near by buildings. Dalian Eton towers are lower because they are actually at a lower elevation than their secondary towers. The proposed Greenland Center is the same elevation as the Wanda Towers (tallest 279m, black buildings just to the left of GC).

Interesting thing to note that you can't see in the pictures, the larger tower (right side of the first picture) is having it's cladding installed on the 3rd floor (which is lower than I've seen before).

Eton Towers, taken earlier this evening.

The left tower is putting up the big metal cross bars. What would those be called? The right tower is looking like the cranes will jump soon, has an interesting set back in the concrete block.

Quick update:

Cladding is being put on, core is rising fast. Steel on tower pictured nearly reaches the cranes, so I guess the cranes will move up soon too.

From ten days ago, but interesting. Taken during a protest in Dalian concerning a potentially highly dangerous chemical plant located below sea level that had a very close call during a recent tropical storm. The story I heard from three different groups of people was that if it had leaked the chemicals they could have killed millions within 40 minutes (never read that in the news though).

This is my last personal update for Dalian, I'm flying home to San Francisco tomorrow and then moving to go to UCLA. Hopefully I'll be back in this city again soon, I really loved it here and enjoyed taking pictures. The design for the residential by NBBJ is probably the best looking in China!
