Wow those old buildings are collapsing or ar they being demolished? The one that is like 4 floors appears that the top floor collapsed. Good to be rid of these and I love the top of the new proposal!

the tower in the models is the main tower of Century Star Plaza 330.6m.....in the models ,yingli tower is just a 150m twins,they havent updated yet

Glad this one is starting soon. Chongqing's has a lot of supertalls about to go full U/C. They should give Shanghai and HK some nice competition.

A crane has been erected they said, hopefully they will post new pics soon. Huge pity we have so few updates for Chongqing.

the chongqings' progresses are too slow, we need a little bit speed up!

hopefully chongqing can remove some of the older buildings and keep them as parts. Its too dense, buildings simply cover each other, something a bit more dense than shanghai would be nice

^^^ What? If anything, it's a godsend they changed it to the current design. The old one will already look dated if it had been built. The current proposal is more in line with the surrounding buildings.

Seems like they changed the design again, and reduced the height downwards to 260m. If I find a source I'll move the thread to the 200m subforum. Apparently Yingli revised this project because they want to build several other 200m+ projects now.

That is an amazing photo! Almost a surreal mix of old buildings cramped between high skyscrapers and malls. And I love all those roofs.

The area of Chongqing per wikipedia is smaller than Austria. The difference between Chongqing and other world cities' area is not as built up (YET) throughout and Chongqing contains a very significant amount of land that will never be developed - for a variety of reasons (geography, political, historical).

I wouldn't get too caught-up in Chongqing's land mass, I would think of the municipality more along the lines of Province or State, as it is still one of the smallest areas in China under a single government. In some cases, it would almost be easier for the world if China was consistent with the rest with municipality and instead called Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Chongqing as prefectures (like Japan) or even provinces. But I think they wanted to distinguish between provinces and these 4 cities, giving them autonomy while the provinces have to go through the chain.

Also, Chongqing municipality it isn't as though the density is evenly spread over 82000 skm, if you actually visit the city or metropolitan area (all contained inside the municipality boundary) feels much the same of any other world mega city and looks just as spectacular.

Chongqing is the world's fastest growing city, 1 million people move into the CITY/METRO area each year, much of it from the 'rural' parts of the municipality into the rapidly expanding urban area.

Seems like they changed the design again, and reduced the height downwards to 260m. If I find a source I'll move the thread to the 200m subforum. Apparently Yingli revised this project because they want to build several other 200m+ projects now.

The new design ain't bad, but doesn't look very inventive. Reminds me of both IFC towers in Hong Kong, for example. I'd still prefer the older design.

Btw. on the board I count maximal 67 levels up to the top, that will probably make 64 floors without the roof.

Not 260 metres, actually it is 285 metres, which is the final height as Yingli says.

Well, Yingli wanna build another two skyscrapers in Chong Qing. One is the Da Ping Project in Yu Zhong District, 210m 140m*6. The other is at the Jie Fang Bei Financial Street. I know nothing about it but the height should be at least 200 metres as others in JFB Financial Street.

Maybe that's why they modify the height of it again.

Yingli, Poly aren't DEAD, they are just (admittedly unfortunately) shorter. Apparently the reason for Yingli is that they want to build more 200m+ towers in the city.....which actually might be better for the skyline (should that materialise). A number of tall towers looks better than one supertall.

As a follower of Chongqing development, I do admit that it is damn frustrating. The city is vast, yet unheard of cities in China seem to be building supertalls. It does seem strange considering Chongqing's ambitions.

It's simply a case of grand expectations getting a dose of reality. Better to put projects on hold or redesign than build something that isn't ever going to be a financial or commercial success.

You mean Jin Gong plot project? Also known as the Future International Phase 2, part of the Guan Yin Qiao Sun Valley. Yingli has the information on it at the annal report 2009. Check www.yingligj.com/ or bbs.classic023.com/thread-526900-1-1.html. However, it's gone from their portfolio. I don't know why. The latest news about the Sun Valley is a 68-floor supertall designed by Gensler.
