Amazing tower :) with high quality cladding (chinese granite if I'm correct)!

A nice tower for Rotterdam, but in my opinion, a to basis design. The crown is beautiful, but the rest of the tower looks a bit boring.

But anyway, a nice addiction to the skyline of Rotterdam!

I don't think old fashioned is the word for this tower OR for Rotterdam. Rotterdam has a unique residential tower design, where all over the world the same boring towers are built in glass and steel - all of which are greatly appreciated here.

I agree, Rotterdam has at least a unique language of highrises, a unique mix.

And for about quality, Rotterdam will become the 'Vancouver of Europe' as it comes to quality living in a dense downtown area with a breathtaking natural setting. The river is great, and still small enough to keep contact with the other side. The number and the quality of shops, restaurtants and other amenities is rising fast, as well as the number of residential towers.

A nice tower for Rotterdam, but in my opinion, a to basis design. The crown is beautiful, but the rest of the tower looks a bit boring. I agree, it's a bit boring but anyway a nice addition for the Rotterdam Skyline

No, because the Dutch are actually building big dams and other structures in New Orleans to protect the city from another flood. Just like Rotterdam has similar structures.

what's that black tower?

instead of two towers of the same size as new orleans, they decided to change it to three lower towers. design of those towers is very nice though. and the black tower is going to be the baltimore tower designed by foster. the tower on the picture is just to point out the location and the expected height as the design hasn't been released yet so there's a big chance it will look completely different.

glad this baby is under contruction. it looks very down-to-earth for a building this big in size (compared to its surroundings). from the renders i do however get the impression that it will be a very polished, classy tower. so now rotterdam has u/c:

Rotterdam is my favourite town in the world, that s my favourite cluster, Alvaro Siza is one of the best architects, this is a 'hell' of a building.

Constanta is touristic and industrial city, more industrial because of the harbour, and is got potential.

Yes it will be. Groundwater level in Holland is always high, so with an underground parking you are always 'under water'.

A part of the Montevideo parking wall is made thin, so an underground connection to the New Orleans parking is possible in the future.

Het zijn mooie torens die er komen, maar ik vind het jammer dat ze ze op een rijtje plaatjes. Straks lijkt het een rechte skyline, niet echt een nette cluster, lijkt me. Maar wel mooie torens!

This tower really looks classy..the design has something of art deco about it, its different from the typical glass/concrete-box residential towers and IMO will be one of the best looking buildings in Rotterdam when finished, and also one of the most beautiful residential skyscrapers in Western Europe.
Rotterdam definetily has done very good in terms of residential highrise buildings , especially when compared to many other european cities (for example, there hasn't been any residential highrise in Germany over 100m built since the 1970's) .. Rotterdam on the other hand, has , like Vancouver, Toronto or most recently Warsaw been in favour of constructing new highrise residentials and i hope that other cities in Europe will follow Rotterdam in this and will start building more highrise residentials.

Hi, I'm new to the board. I have worked on towers and buildings around the world for many years now, working on The Montevideo of course and other projects in Holland such as the HSL for example.

My fiancée came across this site looking about The New Orleans Tower as I am a foreman on this project.

I was very interested to see the pictures today as I am in Ireland for the weekend. Once I spoke to a young guy who came onto the site and is very interested in cranes and I wonder is he on this board?

Very good looking tower. Probably the best ever built in Rotterdam.

Dat wiel is om de beweegbare jip plat te leggen inderdaad, er gaat 96 meter op en als je dat plat moet leggen laat je de jip zakken tot de grond en dan langzaam de giek laten zakken en dan rijd de jip zo mee, hoop dat het duidelijk is.

The crown looks like something from 1930 NewYork City. I do like it. Rotterdam is awesome.

In the future we'll be seeing a lot more projects like these in cities like Rotterdam, the idea behind it is the lack of space in the country, and the great success of other existing residential skyscrapers like Montevideo (which is located right next to the upcoming New Orleans).

Very nice updates. Quite fast progress for a tower being build in the middle of a recession :)

Building during a recession may even go quicker as more workers are available.
Fortunately, the decision to build this tower was tkane already 2 years ago. :)_

OK, this is a little off subject but while I was looking at these great photographs, I spoted the roof in this shot posted by Rietveld and was really impressed with it. Would anyone know if this is one of those pre-planted mats with seeds and is this compulsory for the buildings in Rotterdam or is this just a good trend? This will enhance the view from surrounding buildings and it just looks so darn good:

These are on the HQ of OVG Project Development (they developed the Maastower). They are one of the very few developers that have been accepted into the Clinton Climate Foundation. All their buildings are "green".
