Two buildings that could be the tallest in Myrtle Beach soared up behind the amphitheater. Those could be 24 to 40 stories, depending on market demand, Wendel said.
Maxis49 March 30th, 2007, 06:23 PM Nice looking project..
Does Myrtle Beach have a height limit?
Raleigh-NC March 30th, 2007, 06:56 PM Man, that is an awesome project!!! Myrtle Beach's potential is phenomenal. Here are a couple of renderings (Courtesy of Burroughs & Chapin Co, Inc):

yakirz March 30th, 2007, 11:21 PM I'm hoping for 40 stories :) I think that would set them apart from all the current condo and hotel towers.
waccamatt March 31st, 2007, 02:50 AM B&C? No thanks; they are evil.
DruidCity March 31st, 2007, 05:20 AM I haven't been to Myrtle Beach in years. I know they have the huge Hard Rock theme park project planned for next year , and now this project, but what other tourist attractions are in the works ?
Wandering Import April 4th, 2007, 02:59 AM Myrtle Beach is alright (Only been there once) but I just don't see what is so special about it. Especially compared to beaches in Florida.
Kudos to high-rise development though. Go MB!
off subject, but.. I kind of wish someone would design a high-rise 30-35 story historic look-alike structure for downtown Savannah. That would be nice.
Greenville April 4th, 2007, 08:18 AM Myrtle Beach is definitely growing, and is obviously full of tourists during the summer months. It's funny, though - a lot of us here in South Carolina (not everyone, obviously) consider Myrtle Beach to be sort of redneck. It's like it's good enough for people to vacation there from Ohio, New Jersey, etc., but not really good enough for us.
South Carolina has some great beaches, though.
StevenW April 4th, 2007, 11:44 AM I hope that they'll be 40 stories as well.
UrbanDesigner April 5th, 2007, 04:47 PM ...too bad it's so hard to reach MB by car...What's the status of the freeway planned to NC (I-73/74?).

Thanks for the link - WOW! $22,000,000 per mile just to build it! Hummm--wonder if anyone would consider upgrading all the rail lines to MB!? Imagine that - get dropped off in the center of MB, catch a street car to your hotel and your set for the week.
StevenW April 7th, 2007, 03:28 PM Ah, mass transit... wouldn't it be nice.... :)
urbanaturalist April 9th, 2007, 07:00 PM Thanks for the link - WOW! $22,000,000 per mile just to build it! Hummm--wonder if anyone would consider upgrading all the rail lines to MB!? Imagine that - get dropped off in the center of MB, catch a street car to your hotel and your set for the week.
22,000, 000 per mile for I-73/I-74. Ridiculous.
Anyway, I hope this is the last major insterstate project for North Carolina and South Carolina. Enough already. lol. :bash:
Infoman August 30th, 2008, 04:45 AM Greenville North and South Carolina need more interstate's. Greenville, SC just need's to connect I-385 with I-185, and Greenville, NC need's a highway that cut's threw the city because it does not make any sense how much traffic we have to be this small. :bash:
Infoman August 30th, 2008, 04:49 AM Oh yea is this dead or what.
StevenW August 30th, 2008, 11:53 PM Very dead..... :goodbye:
Dale August 30th, 2008, 11:56 PM I've heard next to nothing about Myrtle Beach for over a year. Is it dead there ?
Infoman August 31st, 2008, 03:05 AM I havent been hearing anything on new Developments, But next year will be better for MB though.
