View Full Version : TIANJIN | Nanjing Lu Supertall | 500m+ | 1640ft+ | 130 fl | Canceled
z0rg March 30th, 2007, 07:14 PM Previously, they proposed a 422m twin tower project. They changed that for a single megatall proposal

Hope they'll release concrete renders soon and build it! The models are just conceptual, so don't bash the design for being too simple :)
The greenery is conceptual too. That area is fully urbanized, and booming like crazy now.
Mosaic March 30th, 2007, 07:44 PM Tianjin is really booming!!!
ZZ-II March 30th, 2007, 07:44 PM love that design, it's simple and elegant....and tall :)
z0rg March 30th, 2007, 08:37 PM ^^ Since it's a conceptual prop the final design (if approved) probably wont have much to do with that model. But I agree with you, I like it like that very much, it's so massive and elegant!
spotila March 31st, 2007, 01:10 AM that is a huge building.
FM 2258 March 31st, 2007, 01:12 AM I love it. They need to build it.
Reinsdorf Sucks March 31st, 2007, 01:53 AM That is a fantastic looking tower.
UD2 March 31st, 2007, 06:34 AM remind u of a battery anyone?
Skyman March 31st, 2007, 06:59 AM Huge and beautiful
Joel que March 31st, 2007, 07:17 AM correct me,the uber skyscraper tend to be unstable.and the danger of accidentally hit by aircraft.
second for city like Tianjin, the building 130 floor skyscraper is simple sheer madness,60~70 floors will do.
MasonicStage™ March 31st, 2007, 09:26 PM wow...looks great! I like those models:)
-Corey- March 31st, 2007, 10:06 PM Nice!
potipoti April 2nd, 2007, 09:29 PM An incredible tower...
xAKxRUSx April 3rd, 2007, 02:42 AM Not a big fan of this tower. Kind of boring.
Middle-Island April 3rd, 2007, 05:13 PM correct me,the uber skyscraper tend to be unstable.and the danger of accidentally hit by aircraft.

It better be stable. That city was destroyed by an earthquake in 1976. Hundreds of thousands killed.
big-dog April 3rd, 2007, 05:22 PM It better be stable. That city was destroyed by an earthquake in 1976. Hundreds of thousands killed.
I think you were talking about another Chinese city, Tangshan (not Tianjin), which was destroyed by the earthquake.
Middle-Island April 3rd, 2007, 11:15 PM It was the "Tangshan earthquake", but also badly damaged Tientsin--now known as Tianjin. I bring it up because there have been articles posted suggesting Chinese buildings are not being built with maximum earthquake resistance.
Remusable April 3rd, 2007, 11:50 PM Anyone else loving the fact that threads titled '465ft/150m' used to be common, now it's more likely to be '465m/150fl'
eddie88 April 4th, 2007, 12:02 AM thanks looks nice
eddie88 April 4th, 2007, 12:03 AM it would look better in the City Of London lol
TYW April 4th, 2007, 04:49 PM i think i like the twin better. but the new design is not bad also
Tianjin's skyline will look awesome with it
mero-toty April 6th, 2007, 12:01 AM nice work.........
koogle April 11th, 2007, 04:19 PM does anyone have any update on this building? thx :)
z0rg April 11th, 2007, 05:45 PM does anyone have any update on this building? thx :)
You better wait at least 5 years or so :D
Sentient Seas April 14th, 2007, 06:34 AM Brilliant structure. I love the design. Hopefully they will actually build it as it appears here, whoever designed this is a genius.
Dr Drums May 24th, 2007, 09:23 AM Great design, hope it gets built
skyperu34 December 3rd, 2007, 10:45 PM Simple shape but nice facade treatment !

only 200m higher:colgate:
Eisman19 December 16th, 2007, 06:27 AM wow, such an amazing project!
BarbaricManchurian December 16th, 2007, 07:05 AM Doubt they're gonna do it in this design, we don't know the funding sources and this is just a conceptual render, the design probably will change/shorten to probably just 350m. The demand just isn't there for a 500m tower in Tianjin, it doesn't have as much demand as Beijing or Shanghai for office space or residentials since people are content to live in their clonic commieblocks, and there's already two other supertalls being built, one of which is 570m! By the time this tower gets actually proposed and not just a conception the demand will be satisfied by the huge amount of towers already going up in Tianjin :}.
gonzalo12345 December 16th, 2007, 07:08 AM looks nice to me
Clashman December 17th, 2007, 05:01 PM and there's already two other supertalls being built, one of which is 570m!
Which one would that be? The St Regis, 336m, is under construction, the WTC, 300 M, is stalled, the westin, 280 m, is being built, and quite a few others in the 200-300 range, but nothing, that I'm aware of, approaching 570m.
Clashman December 17th, 2007, 05:10 PM Never mind, just saw the other thread here. Wow, that's crazy. I can walk to where that one is being built from my house. Crappy location choice for it though, as it's nowhere near downtown. Might be somewhat close to the new subway line, though.

Do you have any render of The Westin? Never heard of it I think.
Tianjin is so deeply uncovered, we really need some local support :)
Do you know when are they starting Sino-Steel Tower (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=454922) (333m, 80fl), TEDA Towers (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=455482) (356m, 80 floors), and R&F Morgan Building (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=538204) (360m, 415m including spire)? I read some months ago that they are also redisigning Yan Zhao Building (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=455698) (378m, 100 floors). Any news?
I know they are starting Xiao Bai Lou Union Plaza (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y188/Clashman99/Tianjin/intl_xiao_bai_lou_union_plaza1F.jpg) (73 floors) soon. How tall is it? We should open a thread for it if it's taller than 300m.

I'm talking about for the 570m tower, China 117 Tower (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=558031). And I was referring to supertalls in Tianjin city only, where there's China 117 Tower and Tianjin Tower U/C and Tianjin WTC stalled. (What's the St. Regis? Never heard of it.)
z0rg December 17th, 2007, 10:00 PM I'm talking about for the 570m tower, China 117 Tower (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=558031). St. Regis = [The Tian]Jin Tower I think.
Clashman December 18th, 2007, 02:52 PM Do you have any render of The Westin? Never heard of it I think.
The Westin is also called Tianjin Emperor Palace. It's on Nanjing Lu, and is set to be 260m or 280m tall, I think.
great184 December 18th, 2007, 03:45 PM Who knows how many square meters (or hectares to be more appropriate!) of floor area this behemoth proposal contains!
ill tonkso January 2nd, 2008, 11:31 PM I love it. It isnt trying to hard to be radical.
InfinitoGC October 3rd, 2008, 09:16 AM Nice Building!
Sentient Seas October 3rd, 2008, 03:32 PM Hopefully they won't stray too far from the model's design. I really like it.
Indica October 4th, 2008, 03:11 AM The model looks incredible.. they really should try to stick as close as they can to it as far as the design goes.
InfinitoGC October 4th, 2008, 03:30 AM Looks great!
SilentStrike January 22nd, 2009, 06:42 PM is it dead?
z0rg January 22nd, 2009, 07:19 PM ^^ No, it is a long term plan.
cuio100 March 14th, 2010, 07:32 AM Any new development for this building?
