Cost on august 2008: 23,713,560,000 roubles. Dollar was ~24 at that time, so it's about 988,065,000 $
It's planned to allocate 10-12 billions of roubles in 2009.
so almost $ 1 billion :eek:

May i remind you that the price will not have anything to do on how the workers will build this stadium. There are some crappy stadiums in the world that for no reason cost a lot of money.

Ruslan, its amazing how EDIT you can be by saying that Metalist stadium has cheap steel etc.May i remind you that this stadium has 15 000 more seats then donbass arena and the price doesnt really matter. I like this stadium BTW :cheers:

Neither does the price. The price is simply the effect of multple construction companies , agreeing with eachother and setting a minimum price. So that they can maximize profit on the construction.
Unfortunetly this is how the world works.
And maybe my fellow russiun friends shouldnt be too proud of how much they spend on a stadium, when the rest of russia (except for the biggest cities) still live in poor conditions.
No offense, but people who live in the biggest cities in russia. Have a blindfold covering their eyes which prevents them from seeing the poor conditions outside these huge cities. And even today, in Moscow you still have people living in poverty.

Ok.
The average monthly salary in 2002 was ~150 $. In 2008 it's ~700 $. Of course it's not so high in compare with other countries, but it is visible progress. And this is after 1990s, when US economic advisors Larry Summers etc. initiated default in 1998.
For such HUGE country like Russia 8-10 years is very few for transformation from "third world country", which it practically was in 1990s during Eltsyn's term, to those, who you want to see. Especially when someone in USA always try to orchestrate something like Georgia war to decrease attractiveness of country for foreign investors. For my opinion, first decade of XXI century in Russia is a "stabilisation" stage, also there are no more huge foreign debts, which was in Eltsyn's time. After 2010 there will be "developing" stage to 2020 (there is program of developing to 2020 year already). But of course, this crisis stealed 4-5 years of this process and slowed it; "thanks" to USA...
And you are wrong if you think that there are "blindfolded". Today the developing of regions is one of the main points for government. And this is also a work not on 1 year. The whole new economic forums were created like Sochi Economic Forum or St.Petersurg World Financial Forum, where contracts on bilions are signing. For last year, I remember, there were signed billions $ contracts with China, Japan, S.Korea, India, Brazil, Italy, Spain... Every year, the trade with other countries is also rising very fast.
So, the direction is right, it's only needed more time.
And building of stadiums like this, WC bid, - are instigating developing of infrastructure in the whole regions. As already known everything that will be planned for WC bid, will be build no matter of FIFA decision.
Sochi 2014, for example, is using to develop the whole South region of Russia (high-speed highway "Sochi – Moscow" in 15,5 hours per way, and many other huge infrastructure projects). One more example - Kuban (just one of the cities on south) will present 1300 investment projects at forum in Sochi soon.
Russia really have huge potential.
Sorry for my english. Probably in Russian I can explain it much more better with numbers and statistics. And it's an offtop, so let's talk about stadium.

I dont have anything against building expensive stadiums. Im against people not respecting other countries, and what they tried. E.G. Here Dombass area is being slammed. Is it so difficult to admit that the ukrainians had built a very good stadium?

The minimum number of points with cameras in the project - 36.
Three variants of sliding roof design and its mechanism will be presented next week.
By december as a result of special architectural competition a company will be defined, which will start to work on designing and purchase of the lighting equipment for art illumination.
P.S. Webcams will work on 28 september.

No info, but general director of Zenit said that there will be 2 screens and company will be chosen in near future. From picture above it's something like 28x12 metres = ~ 336 cubic meters (Donbass have 92 m, Daegu - 350 m, as I heard).

It's normal for a 4,5+ mln. people city, where everyone is a fan of Zenit :). Especially considering the plans for WC-2018/2022 and Summer Olympics in 2020. In future there will be Hockey and Basketball centres on one peninsula with stadium.

But they are team from 4 M people city and they will have 30k on every match, and there are derbies against CSKA, Dynamo, Rubin, Spartak that can fulfill the stadium. And current stadium - Petrovsky - is old and should be changed with new, modern stadium, and club as Zenit deserves it.

It will not impact on the stadium. A name will be choosed by poll. "Gazprom Arena" is a good name and will be profitable for club because of sponsor money. Also I like "Krestovsky Stadium" or simply "Zenit Stadium".

That's good then. Hopefully Russian sides can build on their recent successes and start having good runs in the Champions League. A stadium like this is definitely in the right direction.

Removeable field is there in conjunction with retractable roof so that the stadium can become an arena. The preservation of the grass does not come into the equation financially or otherwise.

peterjames007 November 28th, 2009, 03:09 PM I found another fanncy design for the kirov stadium by a small architecture firm from Germany. They were not part of the competition. This is why they are having a totaly different approach on the project. The design suggests stadium + a new urban development. The idea is to connect city and stadium in a unique way. I think it looks great.

So you compare stadium with retractable roof, sliding field, with more capacity, in more colder weather, with ordinary stadium, which need to be build fast because of UEFA commissions. Cool story :lol: .

I already wrote it. It's slow only at pictures. Huge work is already done:
On "ground level" there were processed about 600,000 cubic metre of a ground, more than 11,000 piles, on depth 25 - 27 metres, in diameter of 520 millimetres are finished; + 600 piles in diameter of 1,5 metres.
The whole сargo port was built specially for this. Don't forget also that old stadium was demolished.
The construction process is not the same as in other places. It's a feature of St. Petersburg climate and ground. It's one of the most difficult stadiums today. And no need to compare it with others, because it's unique.

First, England has bad position in parameter of bringing "legacy" (very important for FIFA in last time). World Cup is a very good opportunity to develop football infrastructure at whole.
Second, on Russian bid working best companies in this sphere, "Helios" (Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014), one of the best swiss architectural companies, Ruben Ready (prepared all projects for WC-2010), former FIFA directors of communications, and on and on. This is a very strong bid.
Third, FIFA not so long ago updated their stadium requirements, which will make all countries rebuild and update stadiums under these requirements. England should not also update their stadiums, but to rise area around the stadium (which means they should demolish nearest buildings, if necessary). It can cost a lot of money and time for various resettlements.
Russia has also advantage here, because 12 stadiums will be built since "zero" and will meet all these new requirements (they will be accounted during designing and projection).
So, England is maybe a favourite at first time, but FIFA is looking on this race under another angle.

It's hard to tell, at times, that what's being built is a stadium at all. It's just a big mess at the moment!
Not that that especially matters. It's the final product that counts and, judging by the renders, it should be great.

Project should be re-made to host possible WC-2018 semi-final (FIFA made new requirements); because VIPs were on the 5-6 floor (now it moved on 3 floor); because of new security requirements, because company which prepared Wembley project found some mistakes and proposed new decisions.
All of this can postpone the time of completion on ~ 1 year.
Of course, stadium can be built to the end of 2010, but without sliding roof and field. Zenit directors and Gazprom head are strongly against it. So, these features and weather conditions require additional efforts.

There is a pattern for the new stadiums that are being followed worldwide, so of the stadium with this model of bleachers, the stadium of my team also has this same kind of stands divided into four sectors, 1st ring chairs normal , 2nd ring VIP seats, third ring cabins, fourth ring chairs normals.
The VIP seats and cabins are in the middle because it is where has the best view of the playing field.
