The Strand in False Bay, Western Cape has experienced a dramatic change over the past few years, turning it into one of the most sought-after holiday destinations in the region. And soon this area will boast yet another hypermodern tower development.

The Calypso development in Kus Road will have 45 sectional title residential units, including one, two, three and four bedroom units.

According to Ms Issi Potgieter, principal for Strand at Fine & Country, who handles the development's marketing, most of the units are two bedroom units from between 80 m² and 91 m². Most of the units also have views of the sea and mountains.

Prices for units range from R1,495 million to R3,380 million, which represents an investment opportunity for local and international investors.

What makes the development so attractive, she says, is that the design ensures that none of the units have a room without sunlight.

"The architects did not want to design a hostel type of building with narrow hallways between units, and came up with a truly unique three dimensional design."

The development has already seen great interest from investors, and the units will also be marketed internationally, she says.

According to her, the Strand is quite popular among foreign visitors from Britain and Germany, owing to its safe swimming beach and its strategic location close to many attractions including the Cape winelands.

Construction will commence in January 2008.

haha, i love how dum ass developers call 12F a "tower". seen that in durban with Platinum towers... it was only 7F!

Even like that in Sandton, with those freakin ugly "towers". what are those office blocks above sandton mall? Something like 7f as well? And now it is East and West Tower? Blugh...

i like this one..its design is as expected..could have done better though..strand is doing great...

Welcome Lilu, I hope these new developments in Strand will bring street level resturants and coffee shop. I mean that's all Srand needs.
