Finally, Mabalacat gets lawmakers nod to become city
By Jun Malig

Inquirer Central Luzon
9:11 pm | Monday, March 19th, 2012

"For many years since he first became mayor here in 1995, Marino Morales has been lobbying to upgrade this towns status into a component city in pursuit of a dream.

To Morales, the only local politician who was able to serve as chief executive for 17 straight years, this towns conversion into a component city is a long-time dream.

His efforts initially produced a glimmer of hope in March 2005 when the Department of Finance officially certified that Mabalacat, where most parts of the Clark Freeport is located, had met the annual average income of P100 million as one of the requirements to become a city."

napansin ko lang, laging may press release na "finally," city na ang Mabalacat... as in paulit ulit. same lang yung content. sa iba ibang buwan, ganun pa rin. FINALLY city na ang Mabalacat. followed by Boking's same old rhetoric about the airport, his 17 years of governance, and the high and mighty claims of being the next Makati etc. If you want this topic to be always in the news, okay lang naman. just make sure to vary your stories. iba ibahin ang perspective ng balita. di yung paulit ulit

jeez, just become a city already if you're qualified :ohno:

I hope Brillante Mendoza makes Kapampangan films again.

As a cultural worker, you should know the stereotype of Kapangpangans. I should not mention it here.

A cultural worker should be more humble in action and words, especially when interacting with people with different backgrounds. It's not about imposing your personal knowledge all the time.

Going back, my point is not about the participation of the said event or the number of speakers, it's about preservation and enrichment of our ethnic groupings and respect our diversities.

Another point, even if Pangasinan did not participate in that cultural event, people here are working hard in our backyard to preserve our cultural heritage. Pangasinan media is still alive. There is no need for external meetings/ workshops because we are the only one who can only help ourselves, same as other ethnic groupings in preserving cultural and linguistic heritage.

Pangasinan: The country’s first to have orthography

http://www.pangasinan.gov.ph/wp-content/themes/pangasinansunshine/timthumb.php?src=http://www.pangasinan.gov.ph/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Untitled-124.jpg&w=660&q=80

Pangasinan is the first province in the country to have an orthography.

This was said by Jose Laderas Santos, Punong Komisyoner-Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) during the presentation and consultation on orthography held March 21 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center here.

The head commissioner commended the province for exerting all efforts in digging deeper to its culture and language as he said that the country comprised of 170 different dialects and out of this Pangasinan was the first and only province that has put serious effort of coming up with its own orthography following the rules and procedures set by the KWF. “Nararapat lang na magkaisa ang mga dalubhasa sa wikang Pangasinan sa pagbuo ng isang ortograpiya upang mapagtibay ang seguridad ng panitikang lokal,” he said.

The process set by the commission, according to Santos, involves thorough studies and researches which include public consultation and deliberation before its finalization and approval just like what Pangasinan did.

Provincial Administrator Rafael F. Baraan said that the project is part of Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr.’s thrust since he assumed his post in 2007 to revive and preserve Pangasinan culture and language.

“To encourage widespread practice of Pangasinan culture and use of Pangasinan dialect remains on top of the priorities of the present administration,” Baraan said as he added that several measures to establish the identity of Pangasinenses as a native race whose roots can be traced from a colorful history has been done.

Baraan noted that the Espino administration has started digging Pangasinan history thru the establishment of the real founding date of the province which dates back to April 5, 1580 some 432 years ago. “It is important that we know where we came from and it is vital for us to have our own cultural identity because as what the Governor always say, people without culture, has no soul,” he said.

Maria Luisa Elduayan,Tourism Operations Division Chief, said that orthography addresses the 12 point-agenda of President Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III to have a regional language (as required under the DepEd’s K-12 program).

“It is a noteworthy project because it allows us to set certain standard when it comes to our alphabet, syllabication, spelling and even terms of punctuation marks,” she cited as she said that project started last year by the KWF with the support of validators from the academe, researchers which include those from the non-government and also Ulopan na Pansiansiay Salitan Pangasinan.

Elduayan said that Pangasinan language is interesting to study and worthy to teach to the younger generation because of its depth. “Even the Governor is all praises with the project because he finds it essential and basic for every Pangasinense, old or young, to know more of their identity,” she noted as she added that proliferation of local publications using Pangasinan as medium of communication is underway.

Orthography is the study of spelling and how letters combine to represent sounds and form words.

The official Pangasinan orthography will be formally launched on April 11 during the Pangasinan Day celebration. (PIO/Ruby R. Bernardino)

This is bull, sorry. You had no point to begin with. You ASKED me a question, which I answered. Unfortunately, you took it bitterly.

Paano magiging POINT ang isang question? "Did anyone from Pangasinan participate" ang tanong mo, which I answered. I even mentioned na meron ng mga artist na gumagawa like Chris Gozum and Pangasinan films. Inuulit mo lang ang sinasabi ko e.

Hence, wala kang dinagdag na information sa sinabi ko. Di ba? So again, paano magiging point ang question. You merely asked and I answered.

Mayors tardiness disappoints governor
By Herbert P. Mapiles

Saturday, March 24, 2012

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Governor Lilia Pineda noted that majority of the mayors in the province were late during the Health summit held Friday at the Kings Royale here.

Pineda, on her opening remarks, appeared to be disappointed of the local chief executives who have seemed to have shown disinterest on the summit, which she claimed is important in bolstering the health programs of the province for the benefit of the Kapampangans.

Among other mayors who were late were Jun Tetangco (Apalit), Condralito Dela Cruz (Porac), Venancio Macapagal (San Luis), Ric Rivera (Guagua), Peter Flores (Masantol), Lito Naguit (Sto. Tomas), Lala Leoncio (Sasmuan), Arturo Naguit (Minalin) and Marino Morales (Mabalacat).

As this developed, the governor rewarded Mayor Eddie Guerrero, who came early and was alone during the roll call.

Dahil ikaw lang ang nagpunta rito, Mayor Guerrero, mayroon kang limang milyong pisong pondo para sa iyong proyektong pangkalusugan (Because youre the only one here, you have P5 million fund for your Health projects), Pineda said.

The health summit dubbed Walang TB para sa bawat Pampangue隳 was organized by the Provincial Government through the efforts of Health Committee chair Board Member Monina Laus.

It was attended by more than 500 health workers from various district hospitals, provincial hospital and rural health workers in different towns.

The thing is, other ethnic groups who are not familiar with Kapampangans and their history fail to understand that even when the Spaniards arrived, we Kapampangans were singled out as the most civilized group in the archipelago. This is not saying we are better than everyone; what I'm saying is, we have basis for what a lot see as "mayabang," pero sa ating mga Kapampangan, normal lang yun. Mas mataas lang talaga ang ating regard sa self-importance.

They called us "the Spaniards of these islands." Rizal, in his annotation of Morga's "Succesos..." described the Kapampangans as the fiercest in war.

Add pa the fact that our gene pool may have improved a lot with intermarriages with the Chinese (since pre-Hispanic times, we had barter; plus, when Spaniards massacred the Chinese in Manila, a lot of them migrated to Pampanga, especially Guagua), Spaniards (we were the first province in the Philippines, and a "favored" province by the Spaniards; hence, they roamed around Pampanga frequently I supposed), Americans (Clark), and now, Koreans (Koreatown).

Hello guys, has anyone been here?

Feature: Inside the Museum of Kapampangan Arts (http://www.pia.gov.ph/news/index.php?article=551332480812)

If you’re into arts and culture, add the fact that you’re a Kapampangan or interested to know more about Pampangos, then you have to visit the Museum of Kapampangan Arts.

The said museum is a collection of the National Artist Vicente “Mang Enteng” Manansala's works and memorabilia which have been preserved by the Center for Kapampanga Studies (CKS) and the family of Mang Enteng all throughout the years.

In the Museum's Gallery Room I, you will see Mang Enteng’s sketchbooks which would give you glimpse as to how he looked at his subjects through the pages where simple people from everyday life are drawn - be it vendors, man on the street, cockfighters, mother and child.

Austere, unopposed and bereft of details, they reflect the artist’s personal sentiment towards the hardships of their humble lives - a path that he, too, once, travelled on.

As a pioneer of transparent cubism, he once said that “I must scratch deeper, try to grasp the roots, dip into the mainsprings, and thereby feel the pulse, feel the makings of what drives these creators to create, how much of themselves they give away in their toil, how much of the human being in them they crucify to turn out works of great importance.” These verses are delineated at the works displayed at the museum's Gallery II where the Parisienne boudoirs compilation is seen.

Mang Enteng's life as an artist may be pictured in the museum's memorabilia section where you will be treated back to the early 1980s where Mang Enteng first started developing his talent as an artist. In this section, you can have a glimpse of how Mang Enteng presented himself to the public through the displayed shoes and suits he used to wear in social gatherings.

Also displayed in the museum are the brushes and other painting materials that Mang Enteng used in coming out with a finish painting masterpiece. You will be mesmerized seeing personally the artist's precious watercolors, dried inks (due to ages of preservation) used for his works, and take note, his black and white television set, along with a sofa set.

What’s even more exciting about this section is that you will see what is considered the most important distinction that he received during his lifetime– the medal as a National Artist in Visual Arts which is placed right at the center of the gallery, surrounded by his diploma earned from the University of the Philippines where he studied Fine Arts, and old pictures of him.

Marvelous, extraordinary, and exemplary, the Museum of Kapampangan Arts is a must visit this summer. You may not only have a quick look about Mang Enteng’s collection but through his works, he will take you back to the time when our country was struggling for national identity after the Second World War.

Located inside the Holy Angel University (HAU) community Main building, the Museum is open Mondays through Fridays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon and Sundays by reservation only.

Wow, this is pretty huge. Over a thousand sketches and studies made by National Artist Vicente Manansala plus a performance by Cecile Licad. Oh my, sayang, tapos na pala ang event.

http://i39.tinypic.com/2qt8o75.jpg

The Museum of Kapampangan Arts will be inaugurated on March 8, the 10th anniversary of the Center for Kapampangan Studies of Holy Angel University (HAU).

The inaugural exhibit will feature original works of National Artist Vicente Manansala owned by HAU, including eight large charcoal sketches, “Parisian Boudoirs,” done by Manansala during his stay in Paris in the 1950s as a scholar of the French government at the Ecole de Beaux Arts.

HAU also owns over a thousand sketches and studies made by Manansala on what would eventually become his major works, like the “Stations of the Cross” at the University of the Philippines Chapel.

Manansala was the first Kapampangan to be declared a National Artist for Visual Arts. He was a native of Macabebe, Pampanga.

Another Pampango National Artist is Bencab, a native of Sasmuan, Pampanga.

The exhibit closes on March 22, when pianist Cecile Licad also performs at Holy Angel University.

SM Department Store SM Clark has started its renovation! That's just the start of the mall's renovation! I'll get a picture when I go there.

Yep, I noticed na lumiit nga ang department store. Apparently, they covered up a sizeable portion of the department store. Is this for renovation ba? I'm curious to know how the place will look like in the coming days.

Anyway, I was at SM Clark over the weekend and I noticed there's a mini photo exhibit of churches in Pampanga. Sayang I wasn't able to take photos, pero I understand it's in relation to the coming Visita Iglesia ritual of many Kapampangans (and Filipinos) during Holy Week.

Don Simon de Anda continued his fight against the British by
establishing a separate government in Pampanga
(Credits: Traveler on Foot)
According to Manila Ransomed: The British Assault on Manila in the Seven Years War, by Nicholas Tracy, the Spanish military leaders recommended capitulation but Rojo would not consent. Tracy claimed that the only positive action from the council of war was the dispatch of Don Sim鏮 de Anda y Salazar to the provincial town in Bulacan to organize continued resistance to the British once Manila fell. I believed that the Spanish are still prepared to resist the British by establishing their government in Bulacan.

At that war council, the Real Audencia appointed de Anda Lieutenant Governor and Visitor-General. Shirley Fish noted in her book When Britain ruled the Philippines, 1762-1764: the story of the 18th century British invasion of the Philippines during the Seven Years War, that de Anda took a substantial portion of the treasury and official records with him, departing Fort Santigo through the postern of Our Lady of Solitude, to a boat on the Pasig River, and then to Bulacan. He transferred his headquarters from Bulacan to Bacolor, Pampanga, which was more secure from the British, and quickly obtained the powerful support of the Augustinians.

http://pampangadirectory.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/La-Pampangas-encomiendas-263x300.gif
Pampanga was the first province and the richest spoil created by the Spaniards in 1571. It was named after the Indung Kapampangan River, the largest river in the former empire.
Pampanga, one of the richest provinces in the Philippines, was re-organized as a province by the Spaniards on December 11, 1571. For governmental control and taxation purposes, the Spanish authorities subdivided Pampanga into towns (pueblos), which were further subdivided into districts (barrios) and in some cases into royal and private estates (encomiendas).
Due to excessive abuses committed by some grantees of private estates, the King of Spain prohibited in 1574 the awarding of private estates (encomiendas). However, the royal decree was not fully enforced until the year 1620. In a report of Philippine encomiendas on June 20, 1591, Spanish Governor Gomez Perez Dasmarinas reported to the King of Spain that La Pampangas encomiendas were Bataan, Betis y Lubao, Macabebe, Candava, Apalit, Calumpit, Malolos, Binto, Guiguinto, Caluya, Bulacan and Mecabayan. The encomiendas of La Pampanga at that time had eighteen thousand six hundred and eighty whole tributes.
http://pampangadirectory.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Japanese-Attack-on-Clark-Airbase-300x130.gif
In 1860, the northern towns of Bamban, Capas, Concepcion, Victoria, Tarlac, Mabalacat, Magalang, Porac and Floridablanca were separated from Pampanga and were placed under the jurisdiction of a military command called Comandancia Militar de Tarlac. However, in 1873, the four latter towns were returned to Pampanga and the other five towns became municipalities of the newly created Province of Tarlac.

For me, I am in favor of cutting down the trees if that would mean wider roads and lesser vehicle congestion in key areas. Policy formulation -- whether public or private -- must not be superseded by romantic notions of pointless environmentalism or, worse, sentimentalism.

I suggest San Fernando make separate roads to decongest McArthur Hiway (should it be decongested anyway in these parts??), at para rin hindi dependent sa McArthur Hiway ang development ng Northern San Fernando. I cant imagine traveling by jeepney from Angeles to San Fernando WITHOUT these trees. KAPALI na mu siguro

Look at Sindalan -- the road is too wide, it's not friendly to pedestrians. Even some Sindalan residents I spoke to don't find it amusing to have that wide of a road. (an alternative, is to construct islands in between the wide lanes para di mahirap lipatan)

Back then, the reason by San Fernando's government for cutting the trees is because growth is expected in North Luzon, especially DMIA being geared as the new international gateway. But then, there's already NLEX to solve that, plus the under construction Northrail.

:nuts:ohno::ohno:

Puro Bisaya at Tagalog? Baka naman sa Fields ka lang nagawi. Kapampangan is getting more and more empowered in Angeles with the efforts of the private and government sector in preserving the language. Lagi rin nagsecelebrate ang Angeles ng "Aldo ning Amanung Sisuan" every August, like the rest of the province.

Plus, this year, there will be the shift to Mother-Tongue-based multilingual education, which means, teachers and students from preschool to Grades 1 to 3 (in Pampanga) will be using Kapampangan inside the classroom as medium of instruction.

These are nice developments. But you are right, Kapampangan is still one of the kulelat major languages in the Philippines. Mga two million na lang ata tayo. Our proximity to Metro Manila is a huge factor.

Kaya naman super active tayo sa pagpopromote ng Kapampangan para di ito mamatay. CLTV should do more by adding more Kapampangan content in its broadcast. :)

If that's really NorthWalk III (Clark), then the ones who approved the design are not thinking at all. A 6 storey building should not be built along the approach path of an airport. So should a gas station not be built along the path as well. What if a plane overshot and crossed the highway? That would be catastrophic with a gas station on the end of the runway. What if a plane was flying low and landing on Runway 02L? Catastrophic as it will most likely crash the six storey building aligned with the runway! :bash::bash::bash::bash:

The white line is the approach path of planes and the shape is Northwalk.

although I agree that it is alarming, medyo exag ka naman.

you should go out more and see that Kapampangan is still alive. Majority of SM and Marquee employees in Pampanga, including establishments in Clark are still Kapampangan. Hence, when you make tambay in 7Eleven in Clark Main Gate, Kapampangan is still the language spoken by most tables. Even the ticket ladies and popcorn vendors in SM Clark Cinemas are heard speaking in Kapampangan among themselves.

There are special cases of course. The notary lawyer in Angeles City hall is Ilonggo. The security guard of GV Radio Station is from Basilan. My favorite piratical DVD vendor in downtown Angeles is Maranao. President of CDC is an Ilonggo from Dumaguete.

As Pampanga progresses, more and more non-Kapampangans are expected to swarm in, especially Ilocanos and Pangasinenses from the north and Visayans/Mindanaons seeking better opportunities in Luzon, but not wanting to be swallowed whole by Monster Manila. Add pa the fact that more and more foreigners are coming due to Angeles' infamous tourist belt.

This is bad, because Tagalog will most likely be the major lingua franca that will dominate. On the bright side, this will allow/test Kapampangans to assess their identity and heritage, and hopefully, defend it from being subdued by modernization. It SHOULD penetrate the modern world to survive.

In the end, the fate of Kapampangan lies to the Kapampangans themselves.

PS: "Muslim" is a religious faction, not an ethnolinguistic group like Kapampangan or Ilocano. So to say "dumarami ang mga Muslim" is not only out of place, but politically incorrect, since any person is free to pursue the religion he deems fit for his life. In fact, several of Kapampangan ancestors and heroes pre-Spanish times were mostly Muslims, including Tarik Soliman of Macabebe.

Kuwaits Emir visits Clark center named after him
By Ding Cervantes

Mar 26, 2012

CLARK FREEPORT Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will visit this Freeport today (March 27) to witness ceremonies renaming the 177-hectare Global Gateway Logistics City (GGLC) after him where a Kuwaiti investments are estimated to cost over $1 billion.

We are honored that His Highness not only will grace us with his presence, but allow us to rename the project in his honor, said Dennis Wright, president of Peregrine Development International Inc. (Peregrine).

Wright is a partner of the Global Gateway Development Corp. (GGDC) which is the corporate arm of the Kuwait and Gulf Link Holding Co. (KGL) in the Philippines which is developing the logistics city at the cost of over $1 billion.

Guy Hilbero, tourism officer of Mabacalat, Pampanga which covers part of the logistics area, said the Emir is expected to stay here for at least two hours.

The Emir is expected to be flown here at noon before finally leaving the country after a four-day state visit.

Wright said that henceforth, the logistics site would be known as The Sabah Al-Ahmad Global Gateway Logistics City.

Last January, the logistics group KGL committed to invest some $500 million in the Philippines, on top of its commitment to infuse $1 billion for the development of the logistics city here.

GGDC signed earlier a 50-year lease agreement with the Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) on the 177-hectare logistics site, also to be devoted to aviation-related projects. It also has an agreement with the Medical City for the construction of 17,000-square-meter, state-of-the-art hospital in the area.

The Emir earlier met with Pres. Aquino whom he invited to visit his country. In a bilateral meeting last Friday, the Kuwaiti leader also his country and expressed interest to invest in Philippine infrastructure projects, particularly airports.

Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said Al-Sabah told Aquino that he was open to the entry of a certain variety of rice from the Philippines in case Manila would become rice-sufficient and ready to export some of its supplies.

The logistics site named after the Emir is in the process of being developed.

Materials on the project said the site will host business enterprises and operations with priority given to aviation and logistics related businesses, including but not limited to warehousing, distribution, transportation and related multi-nodal logistics; light industrial and manufacturing; administrative, management and business offices and complimentary commercial and retail operations that are present in and around major International Airports, Aviation Complexes and Aerotropolis.

Over 4,500,000 square meters of turn-key facilities, ranging from warehouses and light industrial facilities to modern office buildings and commercial and retail outlets are being design-built for direct lease to locators, the material said.

ganda ng angeles city sayang madami na mga muslim

This is too ethnocentric, and quite frankly, an immature view of modern societies. This is already 2012, not 1952, hello. When taken in its proper context, diversity is most definitely a good thing. Cultural integration ensures sustainability of both financial and creative markets. Great cities across the world are known for being open to people from different countries. New York, Paris, London, and Tokyo are a few of the global cities that wouldn't be the powerhouse they are right now if not for their embrace of diversity.

I don't know if there's a mosque in Angeles, but I wish meron to provide our Muslim brothers and sisters a proper venue to exercise their faith. Racism has no place in a modern society like ours, which is to say that racists are not only trashy scumbags but also pathetically and terribly stuck in an obsolete mindset.

some photos from our trip to Sitio Puning, Brgy. Inararo, Porac, Pampanga (via Sitio Target, Brgy. Sapang Bato, Angeles City).

Sapang Bato = that part of Angeles that is very "cold" (because it's several hundreds of feet above sea level) and that is very different... if you're used to Angeles downtown, you won't believe there's such a place as Sapang Bato, especially Sitio Target

http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/6540/7k79024.jpg

Now what I wonder about is: where does the territory of Angeles City end and where does the territory of Porac begin?

Okay iyan. I think informal settlers should be weeded out from the downtown of Angeles (Sto. Rosario, Sto. Cristo, Pampang, San Nicolas, Lourdes Northwest, Sta. Teresita). I believe they are the ones causing environmental problems, lalo na sa Sapang Balen.

Angeles City has lots of vacant lots like in Brgy. Cutud, Brgy. Capaya, Brgy. Mining, and Brgy. Cuayan. Doon na lang bigyan ng lote ang mga informal settlers :D

----------------------
150 informal settlers to benefit in AC gov’t housing program

ANGELES CITY- At least 150 families in this city will benefit in the recent direct land negotiated project entered into between the Angeles City Local Government and a private land owner in barangay Cutud.

The city government and Amelia Guiao, owner of the two hectare property in barangay Cutud signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that will enable residents and occupants in the said barangay to eventually own the area where they have been living at very low and affordable price.

Typical self-centered human. Only thinks about himself and nothing else.

Of course, your road has to be widened. Never mind the environment, never mind the fact that these trees have been there for decades, never mind that they've been woven to the cultural fabric of the city, never mind that they provide a beautiful vista to the otherwise stark highway. Never mind, you just want your road widened.

Parang ano ba ang mas mahalaga, yung maluwang na kalsada o yung benepisyo ng maraming puno?

]What is cooking in the kitchen of Pampanga Philippines why it was dubbed as “The Culinary Center of the Philippines”? Pampanga foods is indeed one of the best well cooked food in the Philippines, thus Pampanga Philippines was crown with it. Moreover, not only it is the national chef of the Philippines but it is also called “the Christmas lantern capital of the Philippines” and “Christmas capital of the Philippines”. For beautiful large Christmas lanterns are being made on it and having a festival about it every Christmas season.
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/13/15505084_c2094e04de_m.jpg
Pampanga Philippines is located at Northern part of the Philippines at the heart or center of Luzon region. Pampanga Philippines was once become the main capital of the Philippines during the British invasion of Manila Philippines for two years.

Aside from delicious dishes Pampanga Philippines is well known, it is also have tourist attractions that one should visit. For example, the famous Pampanga swam, the “Candaba Swam and Wild Duck Sanctuary” at Candaba Pampanga where you could witness a multitude of different species of birds. Which some birds migrated from the neighboring countries of the Philippines.

After a sight seeing at Pampanga’s famous swam lets take a scroll and have a dive in the freezing water of another famous tourist spot in Pampanga – the Ecological semi –resort Mt. Arayat Park located at Arayat, Pampanga. Within it there is the so- called 100 steps which leads into the upper side of the mountain wherein you could see the whole view of Pampanga, as well as if you like you could tread up on the very top of the mountain. Furthermore, though this resort park is on the foot of Arayat Mountain, its waters are really freezing cold. However some tourists who visit it still enjoy swimming in it. Another famous park in Pampanga is the Bayanihan Park or formerly known as the Astro Park where it is the entrance toward another famous historical location in Pampanga, the formerly united States Air Force Base – the Clarkfield Pampanga. Within the park, there are a lot of nightclubs and hotels where lot of foreign tourist flocks.

There are a lot of parks and historical landmarks we could go here in Pampanga Philippines but wait a minute let us dine in into the kitchen of this national chef. Lets taste the Pampanga’s famous meat foods such as the pork and chicken tocinos, the longaniza (which is said to be the Philippine-styled sausage), the beef tapa, the hot dogs, the relleno, the embutido, the lechon, the bulanglang, and the sisig baboy. Let’s also taste their sweet delicacies like turones de casoy, buro, pastillas and many others. For we heard that Pampanga’s foods not only the Filipinos enjoy, but also a growing number of foreign tourists enjoy the Pampanga’ cuisine. Philippines national chef really captures every one’s tastes.

Pampanga Philippines is one of the best places in the Philippines in terms of culinary side, if you are planning to have a food trip adventure in the Philippines. Do not forget to bookmark Pampanga Philippines in your food trip adventure plan when you are planning to pay a visit to the Philippines whenever you wanted to.

galing ako Marquee kahapon... dun sa tulay papuntang Marquee, nakakatuwa, kasi very prominent from afar yung blue building sa Balibago at yung towering Penthouse Hotel.

anyway, things I read from Philippine Star yesterday related to our Province:

1 - PNoy intends to prioritize and approve 8 public-private partnership programs this year, but he never mentioned anything about DMIA or Northrail. Mas priority niya yung LRT extension sa CALABARZON region, and the SLEx-NLEx connector. This will allow us from Pampanga to go to Batangas, Tagaytay, etc. quicker kasi di na natin kailangan daanan ang horrible traffic ng NCR

http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l3pav2FozD1qbpkmuo1_500.jpg

2 - The official name of GGLC project in Clark will be Sabah Al-Ahmad Global Gateway Logistics City, named after the emir of Kuwait. Peregrine, the company that is behind GGLC, claimed that GGLC will be FULLY operational in 7 to 10 years. Tapos na daw yung horizontal developments (road network, electric wiring, etc.) at next month, start na ng vertical developments, particularly the construction of: a) a retail gas station; b) 200-bed branch of The Medical City hospital; c) a power station

http://ggdc.ph/images/gglc_strat_infra.jpg

3 - human beings (unless wearing some precautionary suit) are restricted from entering the sprawling watermelon farm in Angeles City, which is owned by a Taiwanese. This is to protect the watermelons from any infection from human contact. Owner may start producing square watermelons, like those in Japan.

this sounds exciting:

Officials form new local party in Angeles City
By Jovi T. De Leon

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

ANGELES CITY -- A new political party, with an all-Kapampangan membership, was formally launched here Wednesday in a bid to broaden grassroots participation in local politics and policy-making.

Angeles City officials, led by Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, multi-sectoral representatives and ordinary citizens gathered at Mars Garden Restaurant for the founding assembly of Partido Abe Kapampangan to ratify its constitution and by-laws, pass resolutions and elect its officers.

Pamintuan told Sun.Star Pampanga that the local party was created to advance the interests of Kapampangans here and abroad.

Basically, Partido Abe Kapampangan was founded to advance the interests of Kapampangans wherever they are. This first every Kapampangan local party will bear the dreams and aspirations of ordinary citizens and members because it transcends politics to encompass aspects like culture and environment, Pamintuan said.

He described Partido Abe Kapampangan as a broad, citizen-based political party. It will not only have politicians as members, he said, but card-bearing members among the ordinary citizens addressed as Abe, (friend, comrade) regardless of rank and gender.

Pamintuan added it is open for affiliation with any other political party.

Partido Abe Kapampangan has a national reach and membership among Kapampangans who reside outside Pampanga or Angeles City and is seen to actively participate in local and national elections, either through the fielding of its own candidates and/or adoption of national candidates, based on principled alliances with other political groups and parties.

Aside from participation in elections, Pamintuan disclosed, Partido Abe Kapampangan shall also engage in issue advocacies, such as good governance, participatory governance, clean and sustainable environmental management and other issues consistent with the partys basic principles.

The partys basic principles are anchored on Four Pillars, which include parity and equitability in development; participatory governance; efficiency in service; and transparency and accountability.

Definitely, Partido Abe Kapampangan will champion and advocate for the development of Pampanga and the interests of the Kapampangans wherever they are, not only during election time but every time, Pamintuan said.

( yapin ba i karisma? ing pinakamasanting a lalaki king balat ning lupa)

Girl2: oo, siya nga! ( wa, yapin!) :-) ha.ha.

Motorists irked by traffic jams

By Jovi T. De Leon

Thursday, March 29, 2012

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Motorists plying the stretch of Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA) in this city are disappointed by the daily heavy build-up of traffic in one of the provinces most important gateway.

The heavy traffic, starting early morning, is a result of three ongoing works the Lazatin Flyover in the intersection of JASA; the pedestrian footbridge at Barangay Dolores; and road improvements between SM City Pampanga and Robinsons Starmills in Barangay San Jose being done by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Motorists reached by Sun.Star Pampanga Thursday including Artemio Ocampo from Guagua and Luis Borromeo from San Fernando said they were irked by the construction works and the ensuing traffic jams that cause delays in trips and inconvenience to passengers

Parang wrong timing yata itong ginagawa nila. Sana ay ayusin nila, Ocampo, a public utility van driver, said.

Borromeo, a salesman, added: Its annoying. We understand that works have to done along this OG Road (former Gapan-San Fernando-Olongapo Road, now JASA). Pero sana pinaghandaan. This is my regular route every day. But 30 to 45 minutes of delay is a big factor in my work. Iyung iba na hindi familiar with the alternate routes, naliligaw. Just imagine kung gaano kahaba itong traffic from NLEx (North Luzon Expressway) exit at pabalik. At malakas sa gas ha? Ang mahal pa naman ng gasoline ngayon. I hope they could finish the works on time so traffic could normalize.

Pines Pineda of the City Traffic Management Division (CTMD), in an interview, disclosed that the City Government is doing all it can to address the problem.

Even if these are national projects, we are doing all we can to ease traffic along JASA. We have sufficient traffic enforcers and aides assisting personnel from DPWH. We have also posted advisories on alternate routes, Pineda said.

Pineda identified the alternate routes for motorists.

For the Lazatin Flyover construction, all vehicle from the east (Zambales/Olongapo) are advised to take SCTEX (Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway); east-to-west-bound vehicles, take Guagua/Bacolor leading to San Fernando; for east to west, motorists may take San Vicente, Mega Dike, Palawe, access road at Central Terminal; and from west to east, motorists can use the JASA flyover, the Manila North Road, then Barangay Del Rosario, Mega Dike or take the High School Boulevard in Teopaco, out towards Capitol Boulevard and use both outer lanes of the road, Pineda said.

Germaine Gressa “Gette” S. Asprec
Miss Wonderful

True beauty is seeing a person beyond her physical appearance and looking beneath her soul. Gifted with a strikingly gorgeous angelic face, a captivating smile, and a sincere soul, Germaine Gressa S. Asprec, Gette, is a woman of splendor and stance.

Gette is a graduate of Angeles University Foundation, Bachelor of Nursing, and just recently passed the Nursing Licensure Exam. With her astuteness and soft heart for the young and sick elderly, she was able to give them the proper health care with her choice of career path. Dedicated with her career, she is currently volunteering in hospitals to be able to help the less fortunate. She aspires to pursue her dreams and become a Doctor someday.

Looks may be deceiving. This is how they usually describe Gette, she may look snobbish, but her countless number of friends depict otherwise. A certified good conversationalist, Gette does not run out of stories to tell. Whenever she is around, she is for sure the spur of that moment and the limelight of the party. She never fails to paint smiles on people’s faces; Gette is a true, honest and caring; the perfect friend and buddy anyone will ever need. When it comes to her friends, she gives it her all, like what she always says “Whatever it is, as long as it makes you happy, I got your back.”

God must have been really generous when Gette was born. This stunning woman has a passion for performing; singing, dancing, acting or modeling; she has it all. Ever since she was young, she has been awarded countless number of times for her astounding dance performances. Gette once aspired to become a singer, and with her self-determination and confidence, she was able to succeed, she recently recorded a soundtrack for an Indie-film, where she also played a minor role. A true natural when it comes to posing for photoshoots, Gette is favored by many photographers. With her ability to project perfectly for the camera, and the amazing beautiful face she has, equates to perfect photo ads. Foolish yet intelligibly witty, she is loved by many. Gette is the most wonderful woman I have ever met; she is a package-deal. Pretty, attractive, magnificent, sweet, God-fearing, absolutely one of a kind; there is no adjective that can truly describe this girl. She’s just incomparable, a living proof of an angel sent from heaven.

Czarina Anne Arceo
by: Kate Tinio-Pingol

If there is one thing that Angeles City will never run out of, it’s beautiful women. The city that has bred countless beauty queens and celebrities takes pride in its endless cache of talented and attractive ladies. If you would take a minute just to look around, you might be surprised they are quite literally everywhere—restaurant waitresses, bank employees, students in uniform, and even regular average commuters.

There sure are a number of pretty Angelenos, and twenty-year old Czarina Anne “Aina” Yap Arceo, bona fide Angeleno,.is certainly the rightful pick for the next “Angel of the Month.”

Aina’s outstanding beauty is a given, but what is truly impressive of her is that, she is “not-just-another-pretty-face.” In fact, she is the complete opposite of how you would imagine this Prom Queen/Ms. Intramurals to be upon first glance.

She is a simple and sweet girl with a traditional and conservative upbringing. Raised in an urban class village in Angeles City, she is the youngest of four and the only daughter of successful businessmen.

Being the “jewel” of the family, she is adored and pampered by all. Nonetheless, the rules apply to her just as with everyone else in the family. She says she is completely aware of her limits and tries her best not to break the rules. Clubbing, late-night gimmicks, and out-of-town trips with friends were never part of her teenage life, but Aina doesn’t feel the least bit envious of her peers. She’s not complaining about being Cinderella who has to be home by midnight either, as this morning person would well be sleepy by then.

“I respect my parents,” she explains. “I perfectly understand why they have to be strict with me when it comes to certain things, and I appreciate that they just want what’s best for me.”

Aina has the quality of being soft-spoken yet alluring. She has a lively nature that radiates through her expressive eyes, and an admirable attitude of accepting life just the way it is.

“When I was young, I always wanted to be a singer. But then I had a renewed interest in dancing, and became more passionate to it,” says Aina. She has always been a music lover who doesn’t need much prodding to belt out a few notes. Without taking lessons or workshops, her innate dancing talent led her to be president of her high school dance troupe. Since then, she has been busy joining interschool dance competitions, and even managed to pick up some awards along the way. Yet, she has never neglected her studies and strives to always be on top of her class. And as her three brothers have greatly influenced her, she has also earned some skills in sports as she quickly learns any sport that may interest her. Her petite figure hasn’t hampered her from playing tennis, swimming, golf, as well as the male-dominated sport of basketball. This self-proclaimed die-hard Lakers and Clippers fan has even experienced watching a Laker game live in the U.S.

The list of great things to share about our featured “Angel” is practically endless. She is full of optimism with a deep sense of contentment. She describes herself as sweet, sensitive, God-fearing, and amiable. But as for everyone else, she is simply a woman of beauty and goodness put together.

“I’m so grateful for having such a great family,” she pronounces. “They are so loving and so supportive; they have made me the person that I am now.”

Aina Arceo not only possesses true beauty and remarkable intellect, but also a superb talent and a noble character that will always be admired by many.

Regine Mae Canlas
Miss Phenomenal
By Claudette Cruz Pangilinan

Recently, I came across such a beautiful poem. A poem that contemplates what a true woman is. A part of the poem goes…

“Now you understand

Just why my head's not bowed.

I don't shout or jump about

Or have to talk real loud.

When you see me passing

It ought to make you proud.

I say,

It's in the click of my heels,

The bend of my hair,

the palm of my hand,

The need of my care,

'Cause I'm a woman

Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,

That's me.”

http://angelescitysite.com/0111/regine2.jpg

http://angelescitysite.com/0111/regine3.jpg

Now, that’s a woman. Forever phenomenal – true to herself and to others. Upon reading the whole poem to me, it is not a question that Regine - of all the women I know, should ever emerge from my mind. She is, after all, one exceptional woman. To think it over, Angele鎙s are special, incomparable, and phenomenal. To have such women is a great pride of Angeles.

http://angelescitysite.com/0111/regine4.jpg

http://angelescitysite.com/0111/regine5.jpg

Regine, an Angele鎙 herself, is full of patriotism to our beloved city. She is proud to carry the name of Angeles amongst our countrymen all over the Philippines. Though she bows down and treats everyone else equally, her relatives and friends look up to her genuine heart. Compassionate for our less fortunate brothers and sisters, she persuades and encourages most of us to be likewise. She is a model of spot on charity.

http://angelescitysite.com/0111/regine6.jpg

Also, Regine is an environmentalist herself in her own little ways. As an earth saver, she attributes to the well-being of Mother Nature by promoting stewardship in the creation of God. She has a dream to travel across the Globe. Meet people. Define culture. Set adventure. She wants to do so because she wanted to compare and contrast the international political conditions and economy With that of ours. She wanted to gain further knowledge so as to develop ideas to help in the progression of our country in her own way.

http://angelescitysite.com/0111/regine7.jpg

Regine dedicates all her achievement to God, her family, and her friends. To name a few are Ms. Porac 2009, Darling of Mimosa 2010, Ms. Pink Water 2010, Ms. Jancen 2010, and Ms. 9.0 Niner 2010. Regine has also mastered the art of cooking under the course Associate in Food Service. A trait that runs through the blood of Kapampangans.

http://angelescitysite.com/0111/regine8.jpg

Moreover, she is an innovative and persuasive entrepreneur - a trait that she got from her parents. She is diligent with her work, whether it may be for the good of herself or others. Currently, she is helping her mother run a business in the public market and a little grocery store.

http://angelescitysite.com/0111/regine9.jpg

Though she never admits, she is close to perfection. She remains humble. I do believe that she deserves the honor to be an Angel of the Month because of that one reason – she is exceptional. Now, that’s a woman. Forever phenomenal – true to herself and to others.

Pampanga beauties dominate Angeles qualifying round of Miss Casino Filipino tilt

http://www.pagcor.ph/missCF/images/news/mcf-ang.jpg

(from left) PAMPAGUE哻 beauties Cherry Joy Demate, Regine May Canlas and Carmela Therese Ignacio bested nine other lovely ladies for the right to represent Casino Filipino Angeles in the Miss Casino Filipino grand finals slated on September 3 at the PAGCOR Grand Theater in Para鎙que City.

DISPLAYING remarkable poise under pressure, three lovely young ladies proudly carried the brunt for the province of Pampanga as they ruled the qualifying round of Miss Casino Filipino 2011 pageant recently at Casino Filipino Angeles in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Earning the right to represent CF-Angeles in the grand finals to be held on September 3 at the PAGCOR Grand Theater in Paranaque City were Regine May Canlas, Cherry Joy Demate and Carmela Therese Ignacio.

Particularly exceptional was the 21-year-old Canlas, who won both the Best in Swimsuit and Best in Talent awards. The charming lass from Porac town also commanded attention when she replied in the vernacular during the dreaded question and answer portion.

“Kinabahan talaga ako all throughout my stint on stage, pero mabuti nalang po at napanatili ko ang poise ko at na-overcome ang nerbiyos,” admitted the “Darling of Mimosa 2010” and “Miss Porac 2009” titlist, whose advocacy centers on helping the less fortunate and reaching out to those who are in need.

“I joined Miss Casino Filipino knowing very well that should I win, makakatuwang ko ang PAGCOR sa pagsusulong ng aking adhikaing makatulong at mabago ang buhay ng marami nating kapuspalad na kababayan,” Canlas said. She particularly hopes to be at the forefront of efforts to initiate various livelihood programs that will benefit the poor sectors of the society.

The 18-year-old Demate, an AB English student from Magalang town, meanwhile, was stunning in her elegant dress that she emerged as the hands-down winner in the Best in Evening Gown competition. She was formerly crowned “Mutya Ning Magalang 2010-Tourism” and was fourth runner-up in the search for Bb. Mimosa in 2009.

Demate has always been active in environmental preservation, and foremost among her advocacies is the conservation of Mount Arayat, which she noted has to be protected from illegal logging and other unlawful acts. “Masyado nang nasisira ang natural na ganda ng Bundok ng Arayat at nakakalbo ang kagubatan dahil sa walang habas na pamumutol ng mga puno at pagkakaingin kaya’t kailangan nating paigtingin ang pangangalaga nito.”

Ignacio, a 5-5 stunner from Mexico town, on the other hand, bats for the promotion of health services and establishment of adequate educational facilities in their community.

“Marami po kasing hindi makapagpagamot nang maayos sa lugar namin dahil sa kahirapan kaya’t pangarap ko pong maging instrumento para maisulong ang libreng serbisyong pangkalusugan doon. Gusto ko rin pong makatulong sa pagtatatag ng karagdagang mga silid-aralan sa aming lugar para mas maraming kabataan ang makapag-aral nang libre,” Ignacio explained.

The three qualifiers from Angeles City bested nine other hopefuls who came from as far as the provinces of Pangasinan and Nueva Ecija to try their luck in the event that will give the grand winner the chance to represent the Philippines in a prestigious international beauty pageant in Germany.

The search for Miss Casino Filipino 2011 offers P300,000 in cash for the grand winner; P200,000 for the first runner-up; P100,000 for the second runner-up, P75,000 for the third runner-up and P50,000 for the fourth runner-up. Winners will have the opportunity to be part of Casino Filipino shows and events. They will also have the chance to choose a charitable institution which will benefit from PAGCOR’s in-kind donation.

Aquino supports P12-B budget terminal in Clark :banana::banana:
By Reynaldo G. Navales

Thursday, March 29, 2012

CLARK FREEPORT Department of Transportation and Communications Secretary Mar Roxas said President Benigno Aquino III will support plans to establish a P12-billion budge terminal at the Clark International Airport.

Roxas disclosed this as he reads the message of the President during the launching of the Air Asia Philippines domestic flights on Wednesday.

The government will support the proposed P12-billion budget terminal that will benefit our people in the North and Central Luzon areas, Roxas said.

This is due to the continued growth of passengers as well as the entry of low-cost carriers at the airport, according to Roxas.

Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) president Victor Jose I. Luciano said the proposed budget terminal will have a capacity of 10 million passengers annually and would be served to low-cost carriers plying in and out of Clark.

We need to have another terminal because Air Asia Philippines alone will carry around more than 5 million passengers within the next five to seven years and Air Asia made Clark Airport as its hub of operations in Southeast Asia, Luciano said.

Budget carriers will come to Clark Airport in the coming years and we should be ready to accommodate the increase in flights, as well as the passenger volume Luciano added.

Luciano also said passenger volume is expected to increase before the end of this year by as much as 1 million passengers due to the additional flights of Air Asia and Airphil Expresss domestic operations.

Meanwhile, Airphil Express launched Thursday morning its domestic flights at Clark Airport via Kalibo and Puerto Princesa thrice a week.

A simple send-off ceremonies held at the terminal was led by Luciano and Airphil Express vice president for Marketing Group Alfredo Hererra.

Airphil Express will also fly via Clark-Cebu and Kalibo four times a week.

He said the budget terminal is similar to those of Singapore and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

The existing terminal has a capacity of 2 million passengers annually.

CIAC already started the bidding of the P360-million Phase II expansion project to further increase the capacity of the facility.

Air Asia Philippines, a subsidiary of Air Asia Berhad of Malaysia, commenced its domestic operations on March 28. Clark-Kalibo and Clark-Davao will have twice daily flights using the 183-passenger capacity Airbus A320s.

The launching also coincided a Signing of an Airport Sister City Agreement between Clark International Airport and Davao International Airport headed by Luciano and Davao City Mayor Sarah Duterte-Carpio.

The signing was witnessed by Air Asia Philippines chairman Antonio Cojuangco, vice chairman Mikee Romero, president and CEO Maan Hontiveros, among others.

Helen Nicolette Henson is a 21-year-old Broadcast Journalism (Cum Laude) graduate of St. Scholastica's College in Manila and High School graduate of St. Scholastica's Academy, San Fernando in Pampanga.

Nicolette, who is fondly called as Nicky or Nikette, now works as a writer, host and model. Standing at 5'6.5", her vital stats are 35-29-35 and 130 lbs.

She enjoys surfing the net; reading books, magazines, and newspapers; writing poems; and watching films and documentaries. She lists swimming and dancing as her hobbies.

Titles she has formerly held include Ms. Campus Girl-Pampanga 2005, Mutya ning Kapampangan 2006 (Miss Pampanga), and Mutya ning Fernandino 2006 (Miss City of San Fernando). She was also an Elite Model Look 2005 quarter-finalist.

During the Binibining Pilipinas pageant on March 6 where she finished as 2nd Runner Up, Henson was awarded Miss Photogenic, Miss Philippine Air Lines and Miss Del Monte Fit 'N Right.

The beauty queen from Pampanga said up until now she is still in shock, adding that it has always been her dream to become a beauty queen. She admitted that she is excited and nervous at the same time.

She said she hopes her lucky charm, a rosary given by her mother who died, will work when she competes in the beauty contest, which will be held either in August or September.

To continue her dream, Henson is now currently one of the pioneering candidates of the new Miss World Philippines pageant. She hopes to be the first Miss World of the country.

But sadly, it was not a fairytale ending for the pampange鎙 again as Gwendolyn Ruais was crowned Miss World Philippines.

This is the challenge to us Kapampangans. Atyu pu kekatamu nung paburen ta ya ing Kapampangan sumangid na ning alang patad a progresu na ning Labuad Kapampangan. We should be more vocal with the state of Kapampangan

1 - Speak Kapampangan as much as possible when in Kapampangan territories. Kasi, for example, uli ning feeling tamu aliwaliwa no reng lahi keng Pampanga, mas pilinan ta lang Tagalugan deng tau keng mall kasi "pota ali la pala Kapampangan." LET'S NOT DO THIS. Let's speak Kapampangan first to any Filipino-looking person in Kapampangan lands. Then, nung ali la Kapampangan pala reng kasabi tamu, let them admit "di ako Kapampangan" before using Tagalog to talk to them. Anyang atyu ku Tarlac City, talagang magKapampangan ku. Nung ali la pala Kapampangan, saka ku la mu Tagalugan.

2 - Don't think BADUY ya ing Kapampangan. Start from the self. E porke Taga-Tagalug ka o English English ka king coffee shop, susyal na ka. Deng aliwa naman, lilimit de ing Kapampangan da keng kakengkoyan. ALI ME. Use Kapampangan formally, intellectually, coolly.

3 - nung atin kang pangunakan a malati, o kaya potang ika mismu mikayanak na ka, E MO PAKISABIAN TAGALUG O ENGLISH kabud. Kapampanganan mu la, bang lang dagul bilang Kapampangan. E pu tutu na porke paragulan mong Tagalug o Inglis, dagul lang matni buntuk. ALI PU TUTU ITA. Migigiligit ku patye atin kung darandaman a Kapampangan a pengari na Inglis-Inglisan do reng anak da. Bala mu ASU. E wari deng ASU, i-Inglisan ta no ngeni? Come here, Doggie, come come!
