See the new large...50m ? ferris wheel at Birrarung Marr..... I can imagine kids and tourists having a great look at Melbourne from there....The parks, river and city all around you, everywhere you look is beautiful....hate to say it but just try and visualise the outlook from the permanent wheel at docklands...hmmm ??? The studios, although a terrific asset to melbourne will just look like big factory warehouses....lots of concrete...with Industry beyond..The City should look OK.

Yeh but it's only temporary. It'll be gone in a month.

I drove past it the other day. It actually looks really spiffy with all the lighting they have on it and city in the background. I hope they do that sort of lighting on the Southern Star.

It's the same one that was up at Waterfront City last year.

I was having dinner at fed square last night and it looked amazing. Lent a bizarre carnival sideshow air...all that it needed was being able to hear circus music drifting through on the wind.

Yeah, they're grainy and a bit blurry. Blame the unsteady hands and the flimsy mini-tripod which I use.

bloody hell, that's one good shot, i especially love the one with the glowing and colourful lights shaped like some kind of laser beam, it creates a futuristic perspective...

I believe that is the type of lighting the new Southern Cross Wheel will have at Docklands?

I heard somewhere that the Birrarung Marr Wheel could be gone by end of march????? Knew it was temporary only....probably end of summer will see patronage drop off.....I think it has done a good job and hasn't detracted from the city. When I visualise the Southern Star Wheel in this location it could have looked OK.....but the infrastructure around it at docklands makes for a more complete experience... the Wheel needs the surrounding services and the services need the Wheel....
