This is my newest picture project.
Lots of people know the sights in Vienna's Inner City yet don't know that there are actually 23 districts in my city.
I am going to portray each and every one of the districts in this series to make you familiar with the Real World Vienna.

MARGARETEN - 5th district

Area: 2,03 km²
Pop.: 51.000

Margareten is considered to be a working class district. However, parts of the district consist of rather bourgeois-like quarters, particularly in the north.

Heh you know, I'd never seen any grit or something from Vienna, I always had the impression it was one of those super-perfect cities, but it has its normal side, it's good! Makes the best look even better! :D

Now, the pics are great, they catch the neighborhood as it seems to be, the daily life of everybody, very nice. And you said some parts of it were bourgoise, right? Are these richer parts in the pics in the beginning of the thread?

Also, for someone who's learning German, threads like these are even better as I realise I can actually understand some of the signs and ads! :D

Thanks for the thread! I always enjoy "traveling" through cities with the aid of natural and unbiased photos.

I wish you the patience needed to document the rest of the districts in Vienna!

I forgot to add that this is actually the place where Falco was born. ;)

The Margaretenhof is certainly one of the most stunning residential complexes I have ever seen in real life.

@schmidt
The pictures from the south end of Margarethen next to the Gürtel definitely show a poorer neighborhood in general. But I think also in the north its still intermixed.

Even though the north might belong already deeply to Bobo-stan. ;)

@davidkunz
Your photo journeys definitely belong to the most representative of Vienna I have ever seen. Keep on shooting...

Are these richer parts in the pics in the beginning of the thread?

You can find those towards the middle of the thread (Schloßquadrat, Margaretenhof).

When I opened this thread I was expecting to see the usual beautiful buidings and theaters.

Wow, how refreshing to know there's some grit in Vienna. I don't know why it's refreshing, but it is. I guess it makes it seem real.

Thank you for the nice pics. The 5th district was my first adress in Vienna.
But the population is more than 50.000 not 25.300 even without me.
