Anyone know why there is another platform at Stadium station on the other side? Has it ever been used? Where does it go?

Wasn't that a leftover from Expo 86, when they had that monorail?

the tracks at stadium are used as holding bay when events at stadium require extra trains. the monorail went nowhere near stadium station.

the stairwell is covered in cement blocks, was shut down as it was often used as a bathroom by some of the locals (druggies)

the sideing was originally the demonstration platform that would take passengers from expo grounds to canada place prior to the opening of the expo line.

That's right. During Expo 86, shuttle trains taking fairgoers to Canada Place stopped at the 3rd platform. That allowed revenue service to continue uninterrupted at the two regular platforms. The trains were interlined with revenue trains - Canada Place trains would head eastbound to the switches just before the dip in the tracks, then reverse and head to Canada Place (Waterfront Station). At Waterfront Station, a temporary chain link fence ran down the middle of the platform, and the north platform was solely for the shuttle trains, while the south platform was for revenue service. Fairgoers exited the station through the west entrance near Canada Place and sidewalk there was fenced off and was "within" the Expo fairgrounds.

At Stadium Station, the monorail station was on the other (south) side of the 3rd platform, allowing easy connections to the Canada Place shuttle.

i always keep in mind about the "swing" before reaching stadium from main street station
its sometimes funny to see how people act cool and not hold one,
then get swung against the doors
haah

I'm glad to see somebody else is old enough to remember these things.

Do they still have any use for it though? When was the last time it has been put to use?

That's been taken down shortly after Expo ended.

Good riddance to it too. That thing broke down so many times.

Not sure how often they use the third platform - any GM Place/BC Place goers out there? (I walk home if lucky enough to attend an event)

It's now at a theme park in England - Alton Towers:
