phil.froelich June 8th, 2007, 05:21 PM nice pics...
sjinadasa June 8th, 2007, 06:35 PM Heh, Nice road.. but what is it for ? Like a housing estate or something ? since I don't think a single apartment highrise would be that off the main road to require its own road,
OR maybe the MC is renovating the roads ! :)
tanzirian June 8th, 2007, 09:32 PM Is this close to Colombo? Strange to build such a tall structure with no shortage of land around it.
phil.froelich June 10th, 2007, 05:06 PM it is to develop the Colombo suburbs and increase land prices and the area in general, projects like these are usually the start of a boom in an area outside the city itself... good project in my view: must be having an awesome view from the 30th floor spanning all over for several kilometers...
sjinadasa June 11th, 2007, 01:07 PM This area is part of the new residential zone declared by the UDA IIRC. They are improving the infrastructure, facilities etc to make this area into a residential suburb of Colombo to ease congestion or something.

Late 2009:)
akin20 October 7th, 2007, 06:16 PM I noticed on the pictures posted from 8th June 2007 with the title 'Progress as @ 30 May 2007' that the road seems to be flooded by the 'Diyawanna' lake. The lake is known to rise serveral feet during heavy rains and flood other areas around the parliament...
I guess this road is a new access road to Fairmount. I wonder how well the area can cope with a rise in water level.
PS. This is a great forum, thanks for all the pics etc.

dinusha October 18th, 2007, 12:30 AM Hi guys,
I am very keen in buying a flat in this new development. Can you guys give me any thoughts on this?
I am particularly concerned about the flooding as one the of the users correctly pointed out. The water's edge gold course is prone to flooding and I am wondering if this is going to have the same problem.
Any thoughts would be really appreciated.
Regards
Dinusha

OK, I suppose Fiarmount is better because they have laid the Foundation & Superstructure with,
Reinforced concrete pile foundation. Superstructure consists of reinforced concrete columns, beams, and slabs. Specially designed for protection against seismic activity.

phil.froelich October 18th, 2007, 06:39 PM Sounds good...
dinusha October 19th, 2007, 11:49 PM thanks for the reply.
so is this earthquake proofing going to help in the flooding? Do you know if the ground is lifted or whether they managed to put in place proper dranaige?
Also, what do you guys think of the Fairmount as an Investment?
How about the Rajagiriya and Kotte?

Nice :) It must be a unique view, compared to most apartments which are surrounded by miles of bland concrete buildings
phil.froelich July 5th, 2008, 08:13 PM Cool, but i'd prefer a nice penthouse on da 43rd storey of Celestial, top of the city...

Marz February 21st, 2009, 01:46 AM The apartments look nice, tidy, and cosy but I don't like the concept of "open kitchens" for various reasons. Unfortunately (for me), many of the nice apartments coming up in Colombo have just that.

dramirez March 3rd, 2010, 10:15 AM I do like the design of Fairway Residences more. I wonder if anyone knows how the market for apartments is doing in Colombo at the moment?
Cayman March 3rd, 2010, 02:00 PM I am also interested to know the state of expat oriented apartment market in Colombo.
Appreciate if someone with knowledge could do a run-down.
India101 March 6th, 2010, 01:39 AM The building is beautiful but that antenna is an eyesore.

Lol.. Ella Daya!!
Well he is saying that there had been an incident in one of the top hotel in Colombo where the irons in the rooms had become dysfunctional, an actually after investigating why?? they have found out that the rooms with the screwed up irons were boarded by Indian tourists, he says since meals are about $15-20 in the hotel the Indians have made the dough for roti using flour and pressed on the dough using the iron ; reasulting in so many to malfunction.. so he points out and questions the public on what development can we hope for when we cant even bring in some people who want to spend money in our country!!
Well having a few Indian friends I can actually believe what this guy is saying as they really go to extreme measures when they want to save money!! :hilarious
Ambilimaama November 11th, 2010, 08:50 AM Buthgamuwa Road floods for the slightest rain. Today (11th Nov 2010) is the best time to check these flood areas. Its all flooded. Edifice Castle is flooded. Colombo 7 is all fully flooded. Cotta road flooded. Have no idea about Colpetty. But Colombo 3,4,7 electricity is switched off.
