View Full Version : Which Real Estate Investment Book is your favorite?
shctaw April 21st, 2007, 05:17 AM I have read a few books this book is the one I love most.
Timing the Real Estate Market by Craig Hall (2003)
Content:
1. How to identify the best time to buy a home -- and the best time to sell.
2. How to maximize real estate investment profits -- and avoid losses.
3. How to identify the "sweet spot" in real estate cycles -- where prices can go full-throttle through the roof.
4. How to identify the four stages of all real estate cycles -- and "position" yourself to have an overwhelming advantage when you buy and sell.
5. When its smart to "follow the crowd" and when its critical that you "break ranks" and move in the opposite direction.
6. The 3-step formula that any one can use to analyze the real estate market with up to 10 times more accuracy than even the best real estate experts.
7. The truth about interest rates. This will really surprise you!
8. The single biggest mistake people make in real estate and how it can wipe out all the money you worked so long and hard for. Learn how to protect yourself.
9. How to "read" the signals the market is sending you and which three "alarm bells" signal when a major trend is about to begin and end.
10. The simple, yet seldom-followed technique used by the worlds most savvy and rich investors to make "really big money" in real estate.
11. Ten Cardinal Rules that guarantee that you will achieve maximum long-term success in real estate.
12. How to use the "K.I.S.S." method to track real estate trends and all it requires is one 60-second phone call each month to your real estate agent.
13. Learn the best kept secret in real estate and how it holds the key to the "True Wealth" formula for long-term investment success.
14. Three Market Truths and why ignoring them is hazardous to your wealth.
15. Why economists are usually "dead wrong" in their real estate forecasts and how to use this misinformation to your advantage.
16. The two traits of human nature that always sabotage profits and the four things you must do to overcome them.
17. The most practical principle to ever come from the study of economics and how it holds the key to the direction of real estate prices.
18. Why hard work and superior intelligence are not always correlated with real estate success but the single most important thing that is.
This book is really important especially if you want to choose a entry and exit point for your Property. :)

shctaw April 26th, 2007, 01:12 AM This book "Timing the Real Estate Market" is making a lot of sense when Singapore Property hit the "Bull run" button.
I read this book in 2005 (for 2 months), and then I did not really think about the words the author wrote.
I read it again this year and I finish the same book in 2 days. I even give up some sleeping time to read it as it get more and more relevant to Singapore context.
By far this is the best Property Investment Book in my own opinion. I have more than 20 investment books.
ayanami April 26th, 2007, 04:20 AM Thanks. Certainly sounds like a book worth every cent.
You have got mail in your private messages inbox. :-)

bigbird72 March 19th, 2008, 03:32 AM Not a real estate inv book. But I strongly recommend books about Charlie Munger, Buffett partner. Lots of common sense, folksy wisdom and pyschology, etc.
- Poor Charlie's Almanack
- Seeking Wisdom: From Darwin to Munger By Peter Bevelin
Can only be bought new at http://www.poorcharliesalmanack.com/index.html or at BRK AGM.
Cost me a few hundred SGD to ship it here. Worth every penny and more. Gets better with each reading.
Recommend to buy more to give to friends. Regretted not buying more.
From site,
Warren Buffett in his February 2008 Annual Report letter to Berkshire shareholders again expressed his support for Poor Charlie's Almanack. In addition, at the May 2007 Annual Meeting in Omaha, they introduced Seeking Wisdom: From Darwin to Munger by Peter Bevelin. We continue to sell this new book through this website. Click for more information.
Of course, we are still shipping copies of the revised and expanded Second Edition of Poor Charlie's Almanack. If you would like to order a copy now, click here.
There are a very few Charlie Munger-signed copies of the original First Edition of Poor Charlie's Almanack. If you would like to order, please click here.
bigbird72 March 19th, 2008, 03:33 AM I like Leong Sze Hian's letter to the newspapers. Common sense backed with facts.

shctaw May 17th, 2008, 04:11 PM TRUMP is one of the rich that succeed thru real estate; but it have never come to my mind to buy a book which is under his "TRUMP" brand name.
Thing change today; I walk into a bookstore and pick up a book publish under TRUMP name call "The Best Real Estate Advice I Ever Received". Thinking of throwing away $30 on a book have turn out to be a sweet surprise to me. The book is good; good enough for new investor and vivid investor whom know all the do & don't but somehow forgotten it from time to time.
Nice little book with 100 advice from top experts. Any one advice if [ut to good use wisely may save thousands or made thousands.
If you have $30 to spare, buy one and read when you have time to spare.
