This thread is for buildings that you thought had some potential, only for some fool to go and ruin it by way of shoddy redevelopment, fire or other means.

I'll kick things off with the St Georges Tower in Leicester. A tall building next to the train station which I always thought could be recladded into something modern.

oh, what a flattering shade of blue that is, so regal and classy - and the modern art in the windows (graffiti) adds that little something extra

Are you sure that's actually how it's going to be when it's finished, and that isn't merely protective coating for what's underneath? I've seen that done before.

In fact, it might be just primer ... mightn't it?

I hope its just primer or something else temporary because it looks a lot worse in the flesh than it does in the pic

It could be better, but it's certainly an improvement on the first photograph. By the looks of things the less greyness in that area the better.

Not ruined, but the Willis building would be alot better if it didn't have the black top.

Leicester is beyond help at this point I'm afraid :(

They should consider painting each floor a different colour and call it the Rainbow Tower - and then stick effigies of Zippy, George, Bungle and Geoffrey on the top......

Wow that's fucking awful. Demolish that fucking thing!

That reminds me so much of the CIS Tower, but whilst CIS was improved, this was... well... ruined.
