View Full Version : EURO 2012: Poland and Ukraine Stadia and Infrastructure
kal323Ci September 7th, 2010, 09:19 AM You're talking about sleaves that passangers use to board and deboard the planes?
If they're not in the visualisations they wont exist. That is something that definitely would be mentioned in the project and shown in the models.
Matthew222 September 7th, 2010, 10:48 AM I think it would look even better if they build airbridges to the planes. Or maybe its only on raders but in real they might just build them..?(Lublin airport)
Environmental decision is already made and press official on website of airport
Triceratops September 7th, 2010, 03:30 PM Awesome, Poland will just so benefit from this Euro, it's even hard to imagine what would've they be doing if such tournament wasn't held there. But how the country will be positively transformed into an all-scale European country!

The very same would happen. Most of those investments were planned independently from the EURO 2012, mainly because of the money from the EU budget (2007-2013) that have to be spent on very strict time limits.

This technique of filming is called tilt&shift. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilt-shift_photography)
The Wroclaw's fountain is actually the biggest of its kind in Europe :) Try googling for some movies of it on youtube.

Sylver September 8th, 2010, 10:46 PM This is from February but no one has posted any info on fan zones
UEFA on fan zones
Last week, UEFA delegates visited Gdańsk, Poznan, Wrocław and Warsaw, where they talked about the location of the official fan zones during the European Football Championships in 2012.
The UEFA delegates, together with the representatives of EURO 2012 Polska and PL.2012 companies visited the fan zone locations that were suggested by the city and discussed the most important logistics issues related to the particular locations. In Gdańsk, the proposed fan zone is to be located at the Plac Zebrań Ludowych (People's Meetings Square), in Poznan – at the pl. Św. Marka (St. Mark Square - within the area of the Poznan International Fair ), in Wrocław – at the Rynek and Plac Solny (Old Town Square and Solny Square), and in Warsaw – at Plac Defilad and around PKiN (Defilad Square and around the Palace of Culture and Science). The largest - in terms of capacity - fan zone area is planned in Warsaw.
Fan zones are separate areas in the central locations of the host cities, where during the championships, all the fans gathered there shall be able to watch the football matches free of charge on a big screen, buy some beverages and souvenirs from the event.
The idea of public broadcasting and watching football matches and other sport events is relatively new in Poland. Fan zones were organized for the first time during the previous Championships, EURO 2008. The area for public watching was also organized during the EuroBasket tournament and was located next to the Spodek Hall in Katowice.

Why?
salto_angel September 14th, 2010, 09:01 AM Why?
Safety reasons? Still too many deaths and accidents? Hard to say, but I believe these may be some of the reasons.
Gloin September 14th, 2010, 05:26 PM Why?
The increase was part of a bigger bill to create an integrated photoradar system. It included also higher fines. Constitutional Tribunal considered the bill in part as a violation of polish constitution, and it couldn’t be put into practice at all.

Całość robiła piorunujące wrażenie, błękit rzucany z ledów przechodził stopniowo imitując nieco fale w biały, potem stopniowo w ultramarynę, lekki fiolecik i znowu niebieski i błękit. Rewelacja.

paprys81 September 17th, 2010, 05:43 PM First Polish Euro 2012 arena is finally completed!!! Ukrainians, just stick that into translator (google translator for example) and you'll get the information ;)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Nadzór budowlany wydał zezwolenie na użytkowanie Stadionu Miejskiego w Poznaniu, pierwszej ukończonej w Polsce areny piłkarskich mistrzostw Europy w 2012 roku - poinformował w piątek szef spółki Euro Poznań 2012 Michał Prymas.
Swoje zgody na organizację imprez na stadionie wydała też policja i straż pożarna.
"Jednak musimy jeszcze oświetlić drogę ewakuacyjną, oraz ułożyć chodniki wokół stadionu. Prace te zostaną zakończone w niedzielę i zaprezentowane policji i straży pożarnej" - powiedział Prymas.
Poznański stadion, będzie pierwszą z aren Euro 2012 oddaną do użytku w Polsce.

Ukraine is 100% ready for Euro 2012
17.09.2010 | Weekly.UA
Ukraine has fulfilled all of its obligations in preparation for Euro 2012 which UEFA President Michel Platini put to the Ukrainian authorities during his last visit to Ukraine, Vice Premier on Preparation for the Final Leg of the Euro 2012 Football Championships Borys Kolesnykov announced to the press.
“We are totally ready for it. UEFA wants to be persuaded that the summer construction campaign is over and that we fulfilled all our promises. In all aspects that the president promised Platini, we have fulfilled 100% of our obligations,” , Kolesnykov said responding to the question of what verdict Ukraine expect from the upcoming meeting of the UEFA Council on Euro 2012.
The vice premier also commented on the course of preparation of Ukrainian cities hosting Euro 2012. “We recently visited the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv. The reconstruction is right on schedule. Now only some wonder can interfere in the progress. But miracles hardly ever happen,” said Kolesnykov.
Lviv has the best hotel accommodation base thanks to Truskavets. On the downside, construction of the stadium in Lviv is behind schedule, but we are catching up. I hope to invite you at the end of autumn to the stadium in Lviv, should the works go as planned. A brand new terminal approximately 40,000 square meters in area and a new landing strip 3,200 meters in length are being built at the Lviv airport. Next spring we will begin construction of the Krakovets-Lviv Highway.
Kolesnykov stressed the advantages of the new airport being built in Donetsk. “A totally new airport is being built. It will be the second largest in the country with 55,000 square meters in area. For comparison, it will be two times larger than the Kharkiv airport, albeit 1.5 times smaller than the newest terminal at Boryspil. It will have two terminals with a total area of 60,000 square meters. The take-off and landing strip is of the 3B category, meaning it has the capacity to receive any aircraft there is in the world today,” Kolesnykov assured.

Fortunately Terminal F doesn't have any air bridges which sucks! Mistake of engineers, but as I'm usually hearing low cost ones don't need air bridges+airlines have to pay extra if they want to use those, well I still don't agree with that. I love air bridges, nice and comfy.

asotUA September 21st, 2010, 11:55 PM Now they need to hire people who speak and understand good English instead of some village faces as well as people who are very kind and don't have an attitude problem because those piss me off the most by wanting me to pay more for my bags and blablablah..

the way I see it cheap is the height of the whole terminal. Looks like some kind of small factory or something...
They could of made it much higher then it is. Seems like the sealing is right next to your head so you get that feeling of tightness around you. Euro 2012 - UEFA announces the list of training facilities
Twenty-one centers in Poland and seventeen Ukrainian is on the list recommended by UEFA for the accommodation centers for foreign teams participating in the football European Championships in 2012
Director of UEFA Euro 2012 Poland Adam Olkowicz confirmed that the base of the Polish team will Grodzisk Wielkopolski. Contract authority on the Football Association have already signed with the host resort.
- The process of selecting centers, which were in the UEFA official catalog, lasted more than two years - said Olkowicz. - We got 160 calls, and after an initial screening offers 110 centers have adopted as proposed. In June 2009, 60 candidates were selected, and now present the 21 winners who will benefit from accommodation centers called UEFA Euro 2012.
At the heart of residence consists of two main components: a hotel and training center. They must meet several conditions.
- The hotel can not be separated from the training center by more than 20 minutes away by bus, although some offer a pitch so close that it is separated by a few minutes' walk. In turn, getting to the airport can not take more than an hour. There must be at least 60 rooms, adequate conference facilities and restaurants and the area of recreation and wellness center. The object, of course, must also be provided with appropriate, though discreet protection - Olkowicz explained.
However, the role of the training center could pretend objects from the stands at least 1000, creating the possibility of carrying out activities that are closed to the pitch standard size 105x68 meters - currently a problem is the quality of turf on the fields at these centers. During ME, they must be of the same class as those in the stadiums match - Football Association vice-president stressed.
Over the next 13 months representatives of federations and national teams will be able to visit the centers recommended by UEFA and to reserve a preferred and two reserves in each country-host Euro 2012. - Confirmation of reservation and signing of contracts at a time after the group draw for the final tournament, December 2, 2012 which was held in Kiev. Then we will know where to play the various players - said Olkowicz.
In some cases, the directory offers a central permit includes a choice of two hotels, for example, in Gdynia and Międzychód. On the other hand, if someone chooses to live in Tychy will have to choose the place of training, the Municipal Stadium in Sosnowiec Paprocany or resort.
However, under the slogan "Puławy" directory located on that offer training stadium and hotel accommodation in Kazimierz Dolny.
If you will be willing to live in the city center, this team will train at the stadium of the Vistula. In turn, located a few hundred yards away with a modernized facility Cracovia practice can the team that will stay in mine.
This is not the only cases in which a training center included in the directory objects used by UEFA league teams. For the purposes of the participants their current stadiums are ready to give the Lechia Gdańsk, Warsaw Polonia, Korona Kielce and Slask Wroclaw.
At the same time preparing tournament representatives of UEFA Euro 2012, Poland indicated that national federations are not obliged to check accommodation centers in the directory recommended, in the event, hotels do not have to be for the exclusive use of its participants.

Indeed it's strange that the Ukrainian national team will play only once in Kiev during the group stage. It wasn't far from decision that Poland NT would play all group matches in Warsaw, but Wroclaw recieved one match.

As a 2nd gerneration pole in England its my dream to see such a tournament 'w polsce' so in my opinion they should spread national games to different cities fot the fans.
Its great to see so much changes in Poland,i think many europeans will see what a beautiful country it is,im sure ukraine is same although i never visited.
I hope our fans can behave and i hope actually that Poland Germany or England will not be in same group, this could be dangerous and i think uefa will see that this doesnt happen.

The general rule is that each group plays in two cities (Group A - Warszawa, Wrocław; B - Kharkiv, Lviv; C - Gdańsk, Poznań; D - Kyiv, Donetsk) so it is impossible for Polish team to play in Warsaw, Gdańsk and Wrocław.
Polish team can play in Gdańsk in quarter-finals (theoretically).

Well, then, please at least write properly in English (Poland, Pole, Wroclaw) and in Polish ("w Polsce"). On the other hand stating that you are: "2nd gerneration pole" is at least funny. Being a pole is not something to be proud of. No offence, of course ;)

The Ukrainian national association was successful in channelling the public’s

the Donetsk final brought the total to over 100,000, setting a new record for the

In my mind Donetsk is a nice place for NT of Russia or Belarus. (see the map and read history)
Traditionally comfortable for NT Ukraine are: Kyiv, Lviv and Kharkov.
So sorry, that we lost Odessa and Dnipropetrovsk.

Don't care about that: These are only words. But the real competition will start after tournament. Of course it'll be only business. Two airports will be fighting on competitive market, and that's all.

Each airport must have a replacement in case of different situations. Rzeszow is near Lviv So why is his alternative.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) expects that the bank will sign a EUR 450 million credit agreement with the State Road Service of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) to reconstruct road approaches to Kyiv by late 2010, a senior banker at the EBRD, Mark Mahaletsky, told the press in Rivne region on Tuesday.
"Now the project has reached its final stage. We think we'll sign the agreement in November or December 2010. We're awaiting final approval from the cabinet of Ukraine, and all procedures on our side have been finished," he said.
He said that the total cost of the project was EUR 1.15 billion. The EBRD is to issue the state-secured loan for 15 years with a delay in payment for four years, and with a Libor+1% interest rate.
Ukravtodor said that the project foresees the overhaul of the following roads: 79.4 km of the М-01 Kyiv-Chernihiv highway, 74.3 km of the М-05 Kyiv-Odesa highway, 137.9 km of the М-06 Kyiv-Chop highway, 44.9 km of the М-07 Kyiv-Kovel-Yahodyn highway, 28.7 km of the Н-01 Kyiv-Znamyanka highway, and 36.6 km of the Kyiv-Ivankiv-Ovruch road.

All small airports should be built along similiar guidlines: large open space, high ceilings, quality materials
anyone know what it's going to cost and its capacity once completed

Typical low cost. So I do not expect golden chairs and 5 star restaurants ;)
pawelmilosz October 21st, 2010, 10:54 AM anyone know what it's going to cost and its capacity once completed
I'm not sure but the airport should cost about 100 million E. In the first stage, terminal will be able to accommodate 1 mln pax. After the expansion - in the next 10-20 years - 3.2 mln pax.
PS. Sorry for bad language;)
