On the previous page I posted the latest hotel construction finished. Guys, just search this thread, most of the stuff that we have on the forum is reposted here, but its lost around tons of rumors about Euro being moved to Germany or Guadelupa.

LoL stop talking like this because people start thinking that e2012 is really gonna be moved to Germany or Poland (without Ukraine). It's not true ffs, get real. Germany or whoever wants can say 'yes, we want e2012' but that's it, nothing more then that...So please focus on our Pol&uUkr preparations, please...

Just as I said before. Poland and Ukraine will host евро2012 together. Ukraine really isn't lagging behind with developement (what people tend to think).

And little comment on that: A4 already exists (as well as DK44). Right now A1 is under construction together with all connections with the two mentioned roads. It is about 33km of road only of the intersection itself. Crossroad supposed to be ready late fall 2009:cheers:

Also, please spare yourself such words like "moron" becouse you do not even know how to write them (change the mistake, maybe people won't see it). And I have been to Ukraine for a little bit. I have seen quite much, so cut it. In my humble opinion you are the one who doesn't know even a thing about Ukraine. I end this offtopic. It's up to you if you wish to spam any longer or not.

Those trams are actually very very comfortable and they Are not tourist attractions though they give Krakow a charm very similar to Prague. They have nice deep seats that u sink into, unlike the modern Plastic ones, covered with some carpet. Btw guys dont u think Uefa were conscious of the fact they were not chosing Switzerland and Austria again to host the Championship, not everything has to be the same!! Being honest those trams i showed above together with ones like in the link below operate around 60% of routes

Majority of football fans will not go to Ukraine anyway. Ukraine's infrastructure is in schambles, it's not part of the EU and is a non-Schengen country. So I highly doubt that you will see a lot of fans willing to travel there. There is only one low cost airline and others don't seem to be rushing to establish their presence there. Only one train has been outfittied with SUW2000 system to allow to access wider gage. The rest have to change wheels which takes hours.

Most people will watch the games on TV. Some will come to Poland (mostly from Scandinavia/Germany/Low Countries) driving, flying in or coming on trains but I highly doubt that Poland will experience a massive influx of football fans.

So Ukraine has nothing to worry about. Just make sure that lights don't go out during the TV transmission. People will watch stadiums and games and be oblivious to what the country looks like few hundred meters away from the pitch.

We cannot argue that some of the Ukrainians roads or public transport look a bit... old. We have to bear in mind what Poland looked like say 5 years ago with no real investments ongoing and without the money from EU. Poland would do no better without help from other countries.

In fact, I keep on supporting the Ukrainian effort to build as much as possible. This will be a boost in their economy. It will also make Ukraine come closer to Poland and other EU countries. Both Poland and Ukraine can show that the border of EU isn't the only thing that matters - our countries will host EURO together to show that Slavic countries can do well or even better than people tend to think!

Look at Poland, how many stadiums are there completed? - None. Ukraine has one already and two are to be finished in the nearest time! Have a look at aviation development - Ukraine has plans of grand expansions for all hosting cities' airports, all of which are approved and soon should be started! Polish metro vs. Ukrainian metro?

No matter how great you think your little nation is there is a reason this championship is "joint". If what people like all of you, and Polish media are saying were true, Poland wouldn't have hesitated to submit a lone bid. They didn't because there is no way they can host this alone. Get that.

Problem is that Ukraine is not doing anything, 2 stadiums built by oligarchs doesn't make you sufficiently prepared for the championship. Because of your inability to do anything properly, constant government infighting and your collapsing economy you will bring shame and disgrace not only to yourself but also to us since we are co-hosting it with you.

Polish metro vs. Ukrainian metro?

Poland built its own metro. Soviets built metro for you. If you had to build a metro system on your own today it would take you 100 years and it would probably collapse anyway.

No matter how great you think your little nation is there is a reason this championship is "joint".

This "little" nation ruled you for 1000 years. Gave you castles, towns, laws, palaces and everything else so how about having some humility.

If what people like all of you, and Polish media are saying were true, Poland wouldn't have hesitated to submit a lone bid. They didn't because there is no way they can host this alone. Get that.

We didn't submit a bid because we didn't have an oligarch pulling strings for us. Ukraine was probably the last choice when it came to hosting a championship with us. Most people in Poland want nothing to do with Ukraine.

Problem is that Ukraine is not doing anything, 2 stadiums built by oligarchs doesn't make you sufficiently prepared for the championship. Because of your inability to do anything properly, constant government infighting and your collapsing economy you will bring shame and disgrace not only to yourself but also to us since we are co-hosting it with you..

Ok, let's do some reviewing.

Kyiv - Construction started, lower stand demolished, currently piles are driven in for the new one. Mall blocking the exit routes - demolished, underground parking built for it will be used for the stadium.

Odesa - 50% of the old stadium demolished (because Chornomorets will play there during the construction), presently first stand is being built (actually being built, concrete works are going on) Funded by the club and local government.

Lviv - Construction started, site cleared, foundation works in process. 100% budget funded

Kharkiv - All stands complete, currently new roof is being installed, and some exterior works. By 2012 a whole area around the stadium is expected to be redeveloped. Club funded

Donetsk - Pitch being poot in place a whole park around the stadium being redeveloped. + 1 more stadium in Donetsk will be refuirbished and have a new roof poot in placace, will be used as training/reserve venue.

Dnipropetrovsk - Complete.

You can brag about infrastructure all you want, but i doubt UEFA will allow you to play games in the middle of an airport runway or on the motorway.

Bottom line - No stadium, no Euro. This is the priority everything else secondary.[/QUOTE]

We didn't submit a bid because we didn't have an oligarch pulling strings for us. Ukraine was probably the last choice when it came to hosting a championship with us. Most people in Poland want nothing to do with Ukraine.

If it was not for Ukraine you would not submit such a bid for the next 20 years. Be thankfull because you are right it's the right connections in the right places that got us Euro in the first place, and just for the record those connections did not come from Poland.

DJrexx, Would you mind writing in English? It's not Polish thread after all.

I keep on supporting the Ukrainian effort to build as much as possible. This can be a great boost in their economy. It will also make Ukraine come closer to Poland and to other EU countries. Both Poland and Ukraine can show that the border of EU isn't the only thing that matters in Europe - our countries will host EURO together to show that Slavic countries can do well or even better than people tend to think.

The worst is that most of the people who keep on saying strange or sad things about Ukraine have never been there and they DO NOT know how this country actually looks like! Just think, without EU Poland would look EXACTLY like Ukraine looks right now. The nowadays situation there reminds me Poland from lets say 1999 or 2000. The difference is not as big as some of the people from Poland imagine. In fact, many people who write offensive sentences now, after 4 years of being bombarded with EU money don't even realize that Poland without this money would look different as well.

I want Ukrainian brothers in EU as fast as possible to give them the same possibility to develop as we have got here thanks to the EU. And евро2012 is one of the steps forward to make Ukraine join our good situation.

Go Poland, Go Ukraine, like two brotherly countries! Ps. Quit it all of you.

First off it doesn't matter who you know or what your percieved current state of relations is beccause it does not mean it should or has to be this way. The whole point of hosting the tournament is to help bring us closer ad develop political, social, and economic relations between our two countries.

You know what else is true? Poland needs the EU more then the EU needs Poland. More specifically Poland needs EU Euros. So quite the who needs who more and who is more developed b/c if you feel like Poland is developed you only need to look west across the Oder river to get a reality check.

What we really needed was easiest investing of foreginers , EU 500milion people market where we can export our goods which isnt still open for Ukraine at most , easiest of traveling sadly not for all , people on Ukraine side need more expensive visa to Poland now , what a shame .. . And else what i see you dunno alot about EU because before accesion to EU Poland paid 11,6 bilion euro and every year after join to EU we pay around 2,5 bilion Euro to EU basket so now we just get this money back .. So please dont say about such help because this is money we putted first !

Euro 2012 in Ukraine without a hotels ?
(Gazeta Wyborcza, ar/20.12.2008 at. 10:48)
Stadiums in Ukraine in mid already built a hotel there will not be, because their construction is not paid for - Krzysztof Lipka says in an interview for Gazeta Wyborcza. "

Lipka asked whether Ukraine will succeed in preparation for the Euro, expressed the conviction that, yes. - The construction of the stadiums are more advanced than we, the objects in Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk are almost ready.

However, according to Lipki, presents a much worse situation in terms of infrastructure. - Hotels will not and none for example, in Donetsk no secret - said on łamach "Gazeta Wyborcza." - Todays talking with businessmen and all ask more or less the same question: Which company will construct hotels in 50 thousand. fans, after which the championship will be standing empty? I mean, here come the tourists, because in Donetsk are the only steel mills, mines and office buildings. There are three or four expensive hotels, where the live businesspeople. Any monuments or natural attractions. Nobody will invest in outlook devoid of interest, and the construction of hotels really need considerable money. The same is true in Dnipropetrovsk. In Kiev and Lviv is a larger sense, but also there from day to day will not be a mass influx of tourists - added.

According to Lipki, Ukrainian roads can be compared to Poland. - From Kiev to Donetsk leads dwupasmówka, holes, is more or less the same as on our roads. Sure zdążą renovate it, may yet manage to build the next two lanes, at the end of red tape is much less than in Poland. But fans will move around more frequently trains or airplanes than cars. The most important is the airport. Today we are in extremely bad condition - small and neglected. But their expansion does not need such big money again - Krzysztof Lipka said.

Krzysztof Lipka is a Pole, one of the heads of a consultancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers in Ukraine.

Chill out guys, I'm still sure Ukraine will handle it, they're in much more difficult political and economical situation than we are so we all should be understanding. We had some problems too, I remember all the press screaming "we will never begin to build those stadiums" - now half a year later it's all going great. The same's gonna be with Ukraine. Everything's gonna be all right. And calm down a bit, please.

Ukraine has got many oligarchs and multibilioners so they can handle it, i suppose...:)

is it bad Poland can afford for some help, Ukraine needs now?

Guys please... Stop this stupid argument immiedately! Euro 2012 is a great chance for both countries, so we shouldn't f**k it up because of our tough history. I hope that Ukraine will make it, I really do. If not, maybe than Poland will have 6 host cities, I don't know, but for now it is still open. So get to work and shut the f**k up for Christ's sake!

UEFA hopeful on good deal for broadcast rights for Euro 2012
Date: 19/12/2008

DECEMBER 19 - UEFA claimed today it can still get a good price for broadcast rights to the 2012 European Football Championship in Poland the the Ukraine despite the global financial crisis.

UEFA has given broadcasters and marketing agencies a month to stake an interest before bidding for multimedia rights to show the next tournament.

UEFA spokesman Rob Faulkner said: "We are quite confident that, after a successful Euro 2008, that Euro 2012 will continue to deliver good incomes."

Football's European governing body made a €250 million (Ł232 million) profit staging Euro 2008 over three weeks in Austria and Switzerland in June.

Tournament turnover was €1.3 billion (Ł1.2 billion) with around €750 million (Ł698 million) believed to have been earned from selling the rights to show matches on television and through the internet and mobile phones.

UEFA estimates that at least 155 million people watched each of the 31 matches live on television, with more than 200 broadcasters covering 231 countries.

Faulkner said the European Championship ranked in the top three audiences for global sporting events, behind football's World Cup and the Summer Olympics.

Potential bidders must register with UEFA by a January 20 deadline to get more information about the process.

Faulkner said: "We are in a business where you can't wait to see what happens in the market.

"We have moved on to Euro 2012 and we need to have contracts in place."

UEFA plans to separate deals for some of its major markets - such as France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Britain - to maximise revenue.

For Euro 2004, the Swiss-based UEFA sold collective rights to the European Broadcasting Union, an umbrella organization of 75 public networks in 56 countries.

UEFA changed strategy for Euro 2008, selling European rights to Sportfive, a French-owned marketing agency based in Hamburg, Germany, which then made deals with broadcasters country-by-country, a deal that the International Olympic Committee plans to follow when it sells the rights for the 2014 Winter and 2016 Summer Games.

On your place I wouldn't say that Poland is much richer than Ukraine, but it definately is a smart good move they want to help their brother country! But please keep more to the topic and don't try anyhow to prove who's better or anything else!

^ This thread is about e2012 preparations, not general development...

Some of the developments are connected with Euro 2012, some not - well I thought that maybe some people would be interested in what is going on in the cities.

Now, we're waiting for the Ukrainians!

Some of the developments are connected with Euro 2012, some not - well I thought that maybe some people would be interested in what is going on in the cities. But there're sooooo many things to post so... We already have a thread about apartments, offices etc, don't need to post it twice. Ofc I can post other things in there but then you'll have to wait like 2h to see all of them, pointless...ONLY E2012 stuff please!

What kind of troll are you?? Why are you beggining to spread total bash which is absolutely off-topic in this thread? And what's the point in refusing Ukraine to be Polish Brother Country?! Your countries were always together during many centuries, your mentalities are similar, you both speak Slavic languages and so on! There's only one explanation to your strange behaviour - you're a strange Polish nationalist who thinks that his country is a centre of the universe!!
P.S. Wasn't we supposed to discuss development problemes here but not political? ;)

Walesa to draw Euro 2012 groups?
Written by The News pl (www.polskieradio.pl)

Lech Walesa is among three possible candidates to draw teams out of the hat for the group stages of the Euro 2012 football championships to be hosted by Poland and Ukraine.

Honor of the draw

Current Polish FA head Grzegorz Lato and the man he beat for that post in elections earlier this month, Zbigniew Boniak. The decision when the draw will be made will take place at a meeting on December 10. The drawing ceremony will take place probably at the Great Theatre in Warsaw. Ukrainian celebrities are also likely to be in the running for the honor of drawing lots.

Although from relatives traveling through Warsaw to Canada I have heard nothing but criticisms. They say the airport only looks nice but inside its confusing and poorly organized.

I was travelling many times from the new terminal and in my personal opinion it's very elegant, comforable and good organized. The only poor element is the old terminal 1 which is poorly connected with the new one - this mess might be some times problematic.

We have the railways already . :D:D:D

But yeah, main railways are modernizing atm E-20, E-30, E-65...Also:

High Speed Rail will invade Poland by 2020

Polish Government recently announced that the country will have its first high-speed rail line by 2020. The announcement was made during a French-Polish conference about intercity and urban rail transport. Infrastructures Minister Cezary Grabarczyk declared that this first project would link the cities of Warsaw, Poznan, and Wroclaw (west of the country). A high-speed rail line between the capital city and both western cities could, in theory, cut journey times by more than half.
€8 billion project, around 500 kilometres of tracks

The proposal will be submitted to the whole Polish Government early 3Q 2008, in order to launch the feasability studies. The Infrastructures Ministry plans to finish the preliminary studies by 2010. The Government aims to begin construction by 2014 and complete it in 2019, to start operation by 2020.

The project is evaluated at €8 billion (€6 to €7 billion for construction, and €1 billion for rolling stock), and the proposed Y-shaped-corridor has a main branch from Warsaw to Lodz, and two distinct legs going to Poznan and Wroclaw, respectively at 330 kilometres and 345 kilometres from Warsaw. With 35 trainsets running on the tracks, Minister Grabarczyk expects the trips to last around 1h30 while they are presently around 5h30 and 3h00 ! Also, what the Polish Government wants, is to link the network to the European already efficient high-speed rail network.

Poland will be inviting bids for the rolling stock but Minister Grabarczyk definitely showed his preference for the new 360-kph-French Alstom AGV (entering service in Italy in 2011), even saying that “The AGV doesn’t seem to have any competition.”
PKP PLK is preparing the studies’ documentation

Since a couple months now, PKP PLK, the Polish State Railways subsidiary that manages the railway infrastructure (equivalent of Réseau Ferré de France, in France), is already preparing the feasibility study on the proposed high speed rail corridor.

More than just cutting travel times, PKP PLK agrees that the high-speed railway will improve passenger safety, and minimise the environmental impact. PKP PLK also expects the high-speed rail project to increase the rail modal share in passenger transport in Poland.

------------------------------------------------------------------

What about roads...There's quite alot of u/c highways/autobahns atm...And now what Poland needs most is time, time to make up all these years of idleness in road construcing...I think in 2012/13 situation will be muuuuuch better, similar to other west european countries...

If the government manages to spend those €5 billion of EU funds in 2009 on infrastructure only as it plans, it would actually contribute 1 percentage point of GDP growth within a single year. EU money is truly a blessing in these difficult times.

Ok, agreed! Poland is the best developing country in Europe! That's what you wanted to hear? Despite the fact that the most European (ok, mainly WestEur) countries were developed so already a long time ago, you are proving that having built everything from zero you will become a country with the best sport infrastructure in Europe? I doubt it. Yeah, you might get that status, but maybe only because WestEur countries simply don't have land to build something any more. Just look what they had, let's say 50 years ago, and compare it to what had Poland at that time! ;)

i didn't know at first that you are so dumb... we won that championschip just one year ago and you think that by now there should be new stadiums ? everything is all right.. there were tenders, projects were prepared, the land is now beeing cleared... building a stadium is not so difficult as constructing a new st. peter's cathedral in rome or 1000 metres building in dubay- a stadium is just grass and seats. it wont take more time than 18 months. motorways are buing constructed, around 1000 km of railways is beeing upgraded to 200 km/h. it's all polish forum is about. you are not a visitor to it but you say such stupidity " there is nothing going on" that gets on nerves of many people.

Show me one thing which is lagging apart from polish government.

I`m still waiting for Triceratops`s answer if he has some arguments to confirm own thesis. Because I also can`t see any lags in our preparations to Euro 2012, everything is like UEFA`s schedule say to us. So..? ;)

Despite the fact that the most European (ok, mainly WestEur) countries were developed so already a long time ago, you are proving that having built everything from zero you will become a country with the best sport infrastructure in Europe? I doubt it.

Yep, he`s right - of course we`ll probably have ONE OF THE best sport`s infrastructure in Europe. Especially that our Minister of Sports announced ministerial project which concerned financial help from ministry for cities which have club in the highest polish league (Orange Ekstraklasa) and which want to build new, modern stadium - they`ll probably get to almost 50% funding from treasury. If you want some next details which are proving this opinion, here you are:

All inevitable modern polish stadiums before 2012/2013:

- Warszawa; Stadion Narodowz (capacity: 55.920)
- Chorzów; Stadion Śląski (capacity: 55.211)
- Poznań; Stadion Miejski (capacity: 45.830)
- Wrocław; Stadion Śląska (capacity: 44.000)
- Gdańsk; Baltic Arena? (capacity: 41.000)
- Warszawa; Stadion Legii (capacity: 34.500)
- Kraków; Stadion Wisły (capacity: 33.000)
- Zabrze; Stadion Górnika (capacity: 31.000)
- Białystok; Stadion Miejski (capacity: 22.500)
- Bydgoszcz; Stadion Miejski (capacity: 20.247)
- Łódź; Stadion Widzewa (capacity: 19.500)
- Lubin; Stadion Zagłębia (capacity: 16.300)
- Kielce; Stadion Korony (capacity: 15.500)
- Kraków; Stadion Cracovii (capacity: 15.000)
- Bielsko-Biala; Stadion Miejski (capacity: 15.000)
- Gdynia; Stadion Arki (capacity: 15.000)

Also Szczecin and Łódź are planning a new stadiums about 30.000 capacity and cities like Tychy, Gliwice, Lublin, Wodzisław Śląski, Chorzów or Rzeszów have smimilar plans, but with a little lesser capacity.

And probable state of polish sports halls before 2014 (Volleyball WC) will be look similar as below list (only these with capacity over 10.000):

- Warsaw (capacity 20.000)
- Krakow (capacity: 15.000)
- Poznan? (capacity: 15.000)
- Gliwice (capacity: 14.000)
- Gdańsk (capacity: 14.000)
- Łódź (capacity: 14.000)
- Katowice (capacity: 12.000)
- Wrocław (capacity: 12.000)

...and a couple of lesser sports halls or probably even more than several.

Yeah, you might get that status, but maybe only because WestEur countries simply don't have land to build something any more.

Just look what they had, let's say 50 years ago, and compare it to what had Poland at that time! ;)

@krzysiu, slodziaq ns, what I wanted to say is that of course everyone here uderstands that Poland at the moment is just a big perspective construction site, but the problem is that eveything what is u/c, is new - it's pity that Polish government started to think about whole country's development so late, they should have begun developing infrastructure a long time ago, instead of doing everything right now, when the championships are at hand to start! If we look at World Football Championships, which were held in Germany, in 2006, we can see that the only thing Germany needed to improve were seats in the stadiums - they had absolutely everything else done for many years earlier! ;)

2. They had Marshall's Plan....
3. They are in European Union for decades...
4. They hadn't got communism for 45 years... (in DDR they had - ok - but since 20 years West Ger. put such enormous help to former DDR, we can only dream about)
5. And simply - They always were richer country... before war too - they were startnig from higher level... so its normal...
Now we're chasing them in our country developmen, of course we should and we could do it faster, (im sad because we dont do that so quick, and i think majority of Poles too - belive me) but we're doing ours best...

???

it's pity that Polish government started to think about whole country's development so late, they should have begun developing infrastructure a long time ago, instead of doing everything right now, when the championships are at hand to start!

I don`t want to pull further this OT, but when our government should start on big scale infrastructural boom? We are in EU only four years, so now it`s time to such works. Of course our government could begin it several years earlier without EU help, but in 1989 and next years we were in economic collapse after communism...So it wasn`t good time to build some great infrastructure, Poland had bigger problems to solve. Also I don`t want to prove that our country will be European power or something like that, we`re developing and chasing Western Europe quite fast, but still Poland has many many and many things to overtake them...Anyway the whole this discussion (and bigger part of your answer) doesn`t concern the topics about which we were talking earlier. Because I wrote my opinions there in response to your below sentences:

One thing, which is not lagging behind the scedule in Poland, I think, is road improvement! Way to go Poland! At least you'll have good roads for the tournament!

Despite the fact that the most European (ok, mainly WestEur) countries were developed so already a long time ago, you are proving that having built everything from zero you will become a country with the best sport infrastructure in Europe? I doubt it.

"At least", "One thing"...still I can`t find any arguments to confirm your opinion ;) Dude, we have almost 4 YEARS to BUILD (everything is PREPARED TO BUILDING now) all requirements in high standard. So where Poland is lagging own preparations? I want only hard facts from you which you can confirm through UEFA schedule.

Also I gave you some arguments for opinion that "Poland after 2012 will have one of the best sports infrastructure in Europe", because it hard fact (I forgot about our other sport infrastructure like swimming pools and for example hall which is intended for track cycling). I don`t know why you are still using the argument that WE countries built own sports infrastructure earlier so we can`t compare our country with rest of our european friends ;) You passed round my questions and you said something which doesn`t concern them. I don`t want to prove that "whaa! Poland is great, fantastic and the best on the world in everything" like my friends at discussion about "comparison" Polish and Ukrainian preparations - because for me it`s only curing own national inferiority complexes through this fourm. I only want explain two your above opinions with which I can`t agree. So as I said I gave you facts which are proving my view for these things and I`m still waiting for the same from you.

Merry Christmas for everybody! ;)

I think that in 2012 we wouldnt be far away when we talking about sport infrastructure especially when we talking about simple people. Right now we have great programme of building simple sport field for simple people. FOur year will take to build 2000 such sport fields with synthetic surface and also second field for volleyball and basketball. Aleready we have about 400 completed:banana: We also got organistaion of Mundial in volleyball in 2014. Two great sports hall(14 000 capacity) are under construction, 3 other are planned (including graet one in wasrsaw with capacity of 20 000)(there are also some already built like famous Spodek in Katowice). I'm sure that we will be in the group of countries with good sport infrastructure.

Also Triceratops, if you know history, you know how german and russian thieves were robbing Poland, Lithuania, Latvia etc. in 1930-45. How our cities were destroyed by those #$%^&*@#... Then we had 50 years of communism...It not so easy as some of you think...

Yes, I must agree with for 100%! Sure, I do understand that for a long time you couldn't develop as good as f.e. Germany and you're ought to build everything from an empty place and that's why I am really glad Poland is developing so fast!!! Pity Ukraine is lagging behind.. :ohno: With all your new stadiums and sport halls you will be among the leaders in Europe, without doubt! But what point in building all that stuff all around the country if you don't have good connection to that places. Looking at the map of the highways and other infrastructure it seems as if only southern part of PL is developing... Of course it's good even with that, I'm not offending your country, but I just wanted to mention that with such density of populatation you must have had all kinds of infrastructure built in each country's region already for years! Still it's good what it is! We'll see a real face of Poland in 2012, hopefully!

I have a question to polish members. In the map of Poland's roads (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=29819594&postcount=1444), there is the bypass of Augustow, which it is shown is under construction. When are they planning to finnish it?
They will not finish it... maybe never, maybe in 10-15 years... :bash::bash::bash: its sad, but &%#$*^#^ ecoterrorists stopped the proces of building it, because of some frogs or flowers - they cannot accept (i dont know why anyone still even ask them about anything:ohno:) estacade over the Nature 2000 teritory, they were jumping at trees etc. (normal ecoterror procedures) and finaly some european institution cancelled the whole build... Its one more thing "funny" - because polish government fucked up the case - they didnt want to argue with EU - even the law was by our side; years ago, when we started projecting this route we didnt need to use european law about Nature 2000 and other environment bulshits - lex retro non agit... but ecoterrorists propaganda was to strong:ohno: thats the problem - so to sum up; this build is cancelled at this moment:bash: the whole proces starts one more time... so as you can see - of course EU is a blessing, but sometimes (very rare - thank to God) its also a problem for our development - so some people stop talking about every our new roads/bridges/stadium etc. are being built because of EU:)

This map (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=29819594&postcount=1444) shows highways and expressways which is today in use and under construction, however, preparations and agreements with contractors are carried out in other sections not include of this map with construction start in next year (budget for roads in 2008-2012 - 30 bln euro)

Highways in 2012:

+ expressways and new and best quality "road map" in 2012 should looks something like this:

What do those orange and very light blue (Suwałki) lines mean? Are those expressways not planned to be completed by 2012?

Merry Christmas Ukraine and Poland! Cheers

Very light blue for sure after 2012, orange I'm really doubt that we get it in time. I suspect, that in 2012 they will be in under construction yet, but maybe someone who knows better, say something more in that case.

^^ This is how our road network should look like in 2k12. This map was created long time ago (+- 20 months), and for now its sure this plan won't be completed by 2012.

IMO the most realistic scenario is this one:
http://i39.tinypic.com/nyd9vo.png

Some parts of S7 from Warsaw to Gdańsk will be open (mainly some bypasses), parts U/C and parts old.

Too pesymistic.

S8 Warszawa-Bialystok - most will be completed by mid 2012
S19 - Rzeszow-Lublin - long stretches should be done as well
S7 - Radom bypass will be completed

Why do you think that? I didnt want to be rude, sorry but i only said few words of truth... look - today at our west borders we have german motorways, on south - czech; by them we can be connected to whole european road net - enough to say that from those directions will come the majority of Euro fans. Then we HAVE TO build good connection between our host cities, and only after that roads to Ukraine - (and you must also realise that - as @mraku wrote - we already have roads to Ukraine on higher quality, that will be in 2012 on the another side of border, cuz you arent building any motor- or expressways to Poland, yes?) so im really sorry, but you must understand that for Poland this is the most important in our present situation, its not my fault... :)

We`ll have highway almost to the Ukrainian border, only several dozen kilometers behind it. And as mraku said we surely will have really quality polish national roads from highway end to the Ukrainian border. Anyway I still belive that A4 highway Rzeszów - Korczowa will be ready in may 2012 because I`m sure that our government will do anything to build it as a whole.

Triceratops, you're really funny sometimes :D

What I meant, is that a main stream of Ukrainians going to Western Europe is through Poland, so its their privelege to have a good connection to PL and actually they are constructing roads mostly in that direction. But ok, that's what I think, no offending, and it would be really great to hear something from Ukrainians themselves! :)

Why is this thread so dead? Guys lets see some updates from PL and UA!!!

Question to my Polish brothers; currently, are all stadiums with the exception of Wroclaw either under construction or undergoing upgrades? According to my understanding, the following is the status of Polish stadiums:

Warsaw: Under construction
Gdansk: Under Construction (just started)
Wroclaw: Construction has not yet started
Chorzow: Reconstruction process in effect
Krakow: Reconstruction process in effect
Poznan: Reconstruction process in effect

Is this accurate?

Warsaw - first stage of construction
Gdansk, Wroclaw - appropriate construction in first quarter 2009

This once again proves that Ukraine doesn't need highways so much! Ukraine, as you all can see, can freely cope with its 'huge' transport stream even without such highways, though its 2-laned roads are too dangerous to go...:)
