Rabobank tower is the start of a 4 milliard euro station area project in the city of Utrecht. One other example is ma by one of the biggest train terminals of Europe whit in the near future 100 million passengers a year (360.000 passengers a day).

Mmm, I think they copied it form the Rabotower. Especially because those green trees inside the building of the croatian version. I don't think the Rabobank would copy a tower from another company for it's HQ!!!

The city of Utrecht kicks off whit already the Fourth banking Headquarter in there city. This city is economic booming in the Netherlands, and in the future we will hear more for sure. Nice structure and a very good design.

On this moment they are digging a hole of 20 m deep for the parking spaces, then the building will rise.

Indeed, and since it's in Dutch, I don't think a lot of people here will understand what it says.

Let me give a quick summary: they're currently preparing the building site by drilling sheet pile walls into the ground. If all goes well, they'll finish this in August so they can start digging out thr ground for the undergound parking garage and the foundations of the tower.

I think the entrance is a bit modest compared to the rest of the building.
I would have like to see the round shape of the towers also in the entrance.

That's one damn fancy train station. I like it though, a good solid project.

^^ It isn't a train station, it's going to be the headquarters of one of the biggests banks in The Netherlands.

I think he was confused by the 'bonus' impression of Utrecht's future train station in the first post.

No there is a big change that one of the highest buildings of Europe will be build in Utrecht. In 6 months the decision will be made and than they start in 2009. The building is the Belle van Zuylen whit 69 floors and a height of 262 meter.

Rabobank tower is the start of a 4 milliard euro station area project in the city of Utrecht. One other example is ma by one of the biggest train terminals of Europe whit in the near future 100 million passengers a year (360.000 passengers a day).

Together with the medieval Dom church tower, the Rabo tower (especially now with the two cranes, which individualize it immediately) is becoming very dominant in the cityscape of Utrecht and the landscape of its region. After the chimney of the power station and the Dom tower, it's the third highest structure in Utrecht city.

Although it's an unwritten law that no building in Utrecht can exceed the Dom church tower (112 m) in height, the Rabobank tower has been designed in such a way that from the west it looks higher than the Dom and in one place it even eclipses the Dom completely. To the east there is woodland and only feW viewpoints onto the city, but in the west there is open field and in many places you can see the city in the distance.

June 27 (Reuters) - An explosion on Sunday set on fire one of two new towers being built by Dutch bank Rabobank [RABO.UL] as its headquarters, and firefighters are having difficulty putting out the blaze, Dutch agency ANP reported.

The fire broke out on the tower's 25th and 26th floors after a 4 a.m. (0200 GMT) explosion, ANP said. It was unclear what caused the blast, and there were no immediate details on possible victims, the agency added.

Dutch state broadcaster NOS said the local fire department is taking into consideration the possibility that the tower could collapse entirely, although there was no indication that a collapse was imminent.

Rabobank is building the new towers just down the street from the central train station in Utrecht, the Netherlands' fourth-largest city.

According to a presentation on the bank's website, the towers are meant to have 27 floors each and reach to a height of 105 metres (344.5 ft). Employees were intended to start moving in early next year, with the official opening scheduled for the second quarter of 2011.

Rabobank is the country's largest retail savings bank and has recently set its sights on substantial expansion in India and China as well. (Reporting by Ben Berkowitz, editing by Miral Fahmy)
