Comenzó a erigirse en 1927, su estilo fue inspirado en la escuela neogótica-bizantina. Antiguamente era la Iglesia de la Merced y su fachada era de madera. En el mismo sitio se levanta ahora la imponente Basílica Menor en homenaje a la misma Virgen. En el interior se encuentra el Altar Mayor de estilo barroco, tallado y revestido en Pan de Oro.
