Amman is a nice city, the city of seven hills I was there in summer of 2004 but I didnt like the people and the goverment, King Abdulahhs pictures are everywhere like a North Korean state, the Syrians and Lebanon people are much nicer its the people who make country

thanks man but this is only a part of down town amman
actually 75% of amman is wealthy which is strange for a third world country
and as slums go amman slums are similar to what u see in some of the pictures which is relatively good
any way amman is much more but the law forbidsmore than 4 story buildngs for housing and when i learn to insert pictures they will be coming

because it is true and every body who has been to amman cant be so unfair.
i understand that manny hasnt been here and that our media is theeeeee lamest in the galaxy but if u came here u cant say u simply dint like it because its a3 million city that expands 60 km by 60 km (greater amman ).

Beautiful. I've always loved Amman. Jordan is defenitely one of the most amazing countries I've been to. The one time I went there in 2005 we arrived 30 minutes after the bombs went off in Amman, really crazy night. Jordanians all over the country were so upset after that.

Yup, in Amman, Petra and at Red Sea. :)

After Tunisia and Egypt, Jordan is most popular country for Bosnian tourists. So, I've visited all of them and had wonderful time in Cairo and Amman.

Jordan is all about friendly people, amazing past and great food. Stunning country. (:

I disagree with ppl saying it looks bad!
I think Amman especially with the anciant looking pictures on the first page! look nice!
I like how houses are stacked up on top of one an other! plus that big flag! must be the biggest in the world!

the city looks like an ancient gladiator city!

I have never been there! nor do I know how people are there! people in all kind of regions can be hard on someone for suspicious reasons or no reason at all!...
the city doesn't look as bad as described by some scc! (my opinion)

and being world-class don't mean copy/paste of occidental views! it's about being world-competitive through creativity, & being AUTHENTIC.

And amman looks Authentic with those ancient heritage houses!

That one in particular is a view for the old town, i don't say Amman has the best skyline but in order to judge look at the whole picture, Amman's skyline is changing rapidly and modern residential areas look more contemporary and (Mediterranean) than it was 15-20 years ago, and adding the new downton U/C (Abdali) with all hi-rises it's all gonna change in 2010

When I went to the pilgrimage in Makkah I took the plane from Paris to Amman, for me it's too much occidentalised and too much americanised, way of life, cars, the way the girls wear etc. The building haven't any charm, I did Amman/Mekkah by bus. Except for a few towns you can't feel a rich history at the difference of Syria for example. Anyway Jordan people is a good people even if most of it is in fact palestinian people, anyway they are all my muslim brothers and I love them in God.

jordan is definately my favorite Arab country...After Lebanon ofcourse !!! i'm loving the photos :)
u know the largest number of tourists that come to lebanon are from jordan...and i think its vice versa (not sure though!!)
this is because of the cancelation of all travel prosedures between the 2 nations ( like visa and stuff)

i will try to visit jordan with the family in the soonest vacation i get !!!

Retarded Palestinian refugees? What is it makes them retarded? That they were kicked out of their homes? That they can't get any work? Or are they retarded simply because they are among the poorest people in Jordan?

There really is no need to be racist... poverty in Jordan spreads way past just Palesitnian refugees, and it is a big problem for the country that has to be dealt with on all levels. It is only one of many problems we have... the other being people such as yourself who sit there and talk racist bullshit instead of actually trying to do something about it.

Great view from Jabal Amman :) the buildings in the far right are being repainted with earth colors as an initiative by GAM to repaint all houses in older Amman, just look at the difference :cheers:

The difference really is incredible. The view from Ras Al Ain going into the balad from Abdoun shocked me this summer, it looks much, much better since the repainting. I hope this is a sign for things to come in the balad.

might be true...but also the richest Jordanians are palestians so they are contributing to Jordan...and well lets be realistic, they are Jordanians...making such splits in sociaty is not good, we are all Jordanians, we are the same...(and I love the balad in Amman, its a great place, its only that the buildings need a little bit of renovation...other than that I would not change anything)

This whole argument is invalid because what is seen in the picture is not a refugee camp this place is called Books@Cafe in Jabal Amman near the first circle and it overlooks the old town (Ashrafiyeh, Ras al Ain) so please guys don't turn this ugly because of one stupid post :wave:

The wider paths in places like Abdoun are good and the trees are not annoying there, but in other places you have to walk on the road.

Im not saying get rid of all the trees on the sidewalks, but maybe planting smaller trees would help.

I would disagree...maybe bigger trees...because they usually are planted by the land-owners not GAM...and they usually tend to like hugh bushes and olives (as mentioned are a favourite in some parts). These are very annoying on smaller sidewalks. however if u look at the bigger trees that were planted by GAM in the older parts, they are not only more practical and save space, but also provide some shelter.

Look at Beirut, Dubai, and all European cities they are green. GAM wants Amman to be as green as possible, for two reasons
1. Improving the look of the city
2. Reducing carbon footprint/hoping for an increase in rain

amman is a mountainous city it needs a kind of plants suitable for its climate i hope they try to plant some kind of plants that gives colours in autumn some of these kinds may grow in amman ,this was my graduation project , i found that such plants may grow in amman, iam wondering if maple trees can grow at 900-1000 m altitude this would be great.

another thing, amman needs a zoo, also it needs an observation tower a sky tower.

amman should be extended to the dead sea, amman needs water front. i heard that french wants to extend greater paris to the english channel.

The plans for Amman are to expand it towards the airport. The"new" Amman is mainly based around the airport highway.

By the way most waterfronts actually lead to oceans or other rivers. The dead sea is pretty much a lake nowdays considering the Jordan River is only a stream.

I could not find many pictures of the parliament house. I think its one of those places (like Queen Alia) were if you pull out a camera 50 police officers jump on you.

To be honest clyde18, I think the drivers of these big buses are pretty good and courteous. However, this is not the case for the smaller buses 'Coasters' where I'm sure you agree with me that they are MAD! The word ‘safety’ is certainly not in their dictionary. :cheers:
