View Full Version : Interesting render of future London
malec May 6th, 2007, 01:42 PM I don't know if anyone has posted this but this is supposed to be a conceptual render of how London will look like in the future if they scrapped height limits. It's interesting how there are loads of small clusters and individual towers, exactly like what is happening now. Personally, this is NOT what I'd like to see happen. I'd prefer all the towers to be kept in one or two areas and the rest, especially historical areas preserved.

spotila May 6th, 2007, 03:21 PM interesting, not so pretty. Agree with keeping them together
gladisimo May 6th, 2007, 03:44 PM Too scattered and decentralized, and too tall. :ohno:
Taller, Better May 6th, 2007, 04:39 PM Looks like Los Angeles.
kurakura May 6th, 2007, 06:01 PM yeap. should cluster them like Singapore's.
big-dog May 6th, 2007, 06:12 PM the current London looks better.
sydney_lad May 6th, 2007, 09:16 PM Hmmm, that's just not London.
PresidentBjork May 7th, 2007, 02:25 AM yeah, yeah.....that isn't good....
malec May 7th, 2007, 03:54 AM It's just a conceptual render. It's not supposed to be utopia, nor is it supposed to be distopia. Just though it was interesting that there are a lot of towers on their own or in small clusters (but lots of them) because it seems like a continuation of what's happening now.
city_thing May 7th, 2007, 11:07 AM Reminds me of The Fifth Element a bit.

Yer dirk.
Manila-X May 7th, 2007, 11:29 AM The Fifth Element NY has an image of a half-drained Atlantic Ocean.
The London render looks ok though I prefer that of today.
city_thing May 7th, 2007, 12:03 PM lol, I didn't say it was exactly like The 5th Element, just that it reminded me of it.
Relax, jeebus. You guys really do take yourselves too seriously sometimes.

haha lol, jokes, jokes! I like london now, perhaps with the shard. But street life is sweet, Soho was fun.
goschio May 7th, 2007, 05:51 PM I love it. Reminds me of Star Wars.
Taller, Better May 7th, 2007, 07:17 PM In my humble opinion, what is lacking in London are some very good quality International Style office towers, like the Seagram's building in New York. Something that looks restrained and classic, along with the very new styles that are going up.
OtAkAw May 7th, 2007, 08:45 PM I'd prefer London with a smaller skyline, the historical buildings and the current, cutting-edge ones with lower height gives London that distinct feel.
Its AlL gUUd May 8th, 2007, 01:13 AM I dont want London to be scattered with so many skyscrapers like that, i like how things are going now with some quality buildings integrating old and new to keep London's style. I prefer how London incoorporates its modern image with its historical heritage and i want it to stay that way. Too many cities in the world are riddled with too many skyscrapers and it can be boring, i want Londons skyline to be Diverse.
eklips May 9th, 2007, 01:29 PM London's never going to look like that.
And it's all good.
PresidentBjork May 9th, 2007, 04:02 PM There's plenty of room down by Canada quey and Canary wharf for big skyscrapers, some of the crappy 60's boxes in the city can be replaced and the south bank could do with a few more landmarks.
Otherwise you could be building over some great stuff.
SpaceMonkey May 11th, 2007, 06:02 AM London would be lucky to get just one of those supertalls.
GNU May 12th, 2007, 03:08 PM That was a rendering to show how London might look if it were to go down the same route as Dubai.
