Until the construction of Oberoi Skyz 65 storey twin-towered Oberoi Skyz late last year, two of Mumbai's biggest property developers were in a competition to build Mumbai's tallest all-residential building: SD Corporation with their Imperial Twin Towers, and Lodha group with their signiature tower Bellissimo.

The design is in view of the Indian ocean, and reflects it in the gently-contoured sea-wave inspired façade and a wave-like roof element. It's location right next to the Mahalaxmi racecourse offer unrestricted and breathtaking views of the ocean.

Constructed on the former Apollo Mills, Lodha Bellissimo can properly be called Mumbai's first "garden" skyscraper. Perched on a podium covered in gardens and cascading waterfalls, in a lush 18800 sq m landscaped plot of which 94% of the area is comprised of jungles, gardens, reflecting pools and water fountains including a serene Hindu temple set in the middle of the forest, the aim is to bring the lushness of the Indian jungle to a resort-like residential enviroment.

Bellissimo will have a unique Sky Garden every fourth level. The Sky Gardens feature dense foliage of exotic and native flora and even fauna (with birds nests for parrots, humming birds) developed by biologists that aims to strengthen local ecological diversity.

The complex also includes a club with spas, swimming pools, athletic centres, yoga and meditation halls, and a well stocked library. The flats themselves are fully automated with some of the world's most advanced security systems.

The project has already broken ground, and completion is expected by 2009. However, it, unlike SD Corporation's Imperial Towers, was robbed of its 'Mumbai's tallest tower' title well before it hit the 10th storey in construction.

Very nice tower, but tower looks not 252 meters but lower...

I think its the horizontal stripes that make it seem smaler coz there are tree floors between each stripes

Why does the building look so wide as compared to the Rendering?

It does...but its only about half way. So once its gets taller it wont look to wide.

Mumbai’s first ‘By Invitation only’ project, Lodha Bellissimo is now amongst the top 1000 landscapes in the world

Pune, 26th February, 09: Leading Mumbai based real estate developer, Lodha Group’s first ‘By Invitation Only’ project, Lodha Bellissimo has been featured amongst the 1000 top landscapes in the world in the latest edition of ‘1000x Landscape Architecture’ published bv Braun Publications, Germany. Apart from some self-use bungalows, Lodha Bellissimo is the ONLY residential project from India in the list.

The landscape design for Lodha Bellissimo is based on a modern, contemporary style that combines the use of water and plants to create a dynamic and distinctive landscape. On the axis of the main entrance to the project there stands an alley of trees, stretching from the entrance to the far end of the project. A 5km high/10m wide water wall and reflecting pool terminate this vista. The tree-lined alley acts as a transition between the clubhouse precinct and the multi purpose lawn, a large area of green at the core of the project, which allows for passive and active use. This space could be used to play a game of cricket or for strolling along the waters edge

Great! Very impressive...

From some of the pics it looks like a smaller version of the Megapolis being built in Panama City, Panama. I give it a 4/10. I don't like the designs of these buildings that are rising in Mumbai, but i'm sure the best ones will come in a few years. :)

i agree with you that it is a slowest project.........but it is beautiful....

Update- the Lodha developers introduced a new wing (named 'Primero') to the tower, giving a lot more visual appeal to the design:

It looks just like the render, and like some other people here, I think that the design is nothing special but the height is great and the design is decent. Overall, I think I turned out great. Go Mumbai! :banana:
