LOS ANGELES, CA – Sundance Cinemas today announced the grand opening date of the Sundance Cinemas 608 at the Hilldale Mall in Madison, Wisconsin. On Friday, May 11th, the Sundance Cinemas 608 will be open to the public following three special grand opening events. All benefit events will include a reception, extraordinary entertainment and the Madison premiere of a new release film.

The Sundance Cinemas 608 has many distinctive features:

6 all stadium seated auditoriums with plush seats, digital stereo surround sound and outstanding presentation.
Caffé 608, serving San Francisco-based Peet’s Coffee’s and Teas, fresh breakfast items and sandwiches – Open 6 a.m. to late night

The Rooftop Bar, a seasonal gathering spot for great drinks and appetizers
The 608 Gallery selling Sundance logo items and work from local artists

The Sundance Cinemas 608 will feature the finest in specialized film programming, including the best in independent and foreign language film, a custom proprietary pre-show, and no annoying advertisements.

Madison is the first city selected by Sundance Cinemas as a site for its emerging national movie theatre circuit. In San Francisco, the 8 screen Sundance Cinemas Kabuki is undergoing a complete renovation with an opening set for Summer of 2007.

According to CEO of Sundance Cinemas Paul Richardson, "(Sundance) is considering other possible Sundance Cinemas locations, including Milwaukee, where national art house cinema chain Landmark Theatres operates the Downer and Oriental theaters, totaling five screens.

The Milwaukee area has a strong enough movie market to support additional art house screens, Richardson said.

"The city is evolving," he said."

Reserved seating only Bob R.???? I know the new theaters in downtown KC are employing that, but with every seat and every ticket purchase? It's not optional?

If you look online at the showings for Sundance 608 the majority of the movies are what Landmark Theaters are showing all over the country.
Sundance should show those films which weren't able to get into the Sundance Film Festival, or even less mainstream how about local
film makers from Milwaukee and Madison? If "Chad Vader" is a YouTube
hit why not dig deeper to find Wisconsin, home grown talent? Or from Minneapolis, Chicago, or Detroit?
