These pictures are from Kerameikos ancient cemetary that can be found near Thissio ( a few meters away from the metro station ). The archeological study has revealed many interesting burial sites and some houses and other buildings. The area of Kerameikos extends both inside and out of the ancient city walls, and it is just beside the Iridanos river. Also the ancient "iera odos" ( the "sacred road" ), a very importand road in ancient Athens started there.

Inside the grounds of Kerameikos there is also a museum with many artifacts found during the archeological study of the place. If you are in Athens i think that the place deserves a visit.
