disagreed.suzhou has two decent skyline ,east is around jinji lake,west is hightech industrial park.central is old city.

Maybe that's the problem of Suzhou's skyline. 2 parts and the buildings are spread out, from a distance you just see a couple of towers. But the skyline is still developing and will look totally different (and more full) in a couple of years.

This is why China is surprising : when a project has for name ''gate'', they build really a gate!

The trees on the floors are also a good idea. I find that this project is more advanced, for urban planning, that the most china projects.

That's crazy. The world's deepest subway station is not nearly this deep (only 105.5 meters deep at Arsenal'naya station in Kiev, Ukraine).

i always compare sizes to buildings i already know and i just cant stop thinking that this one is the size of the tallest in singapore but its a lot more massive, i mean this is basically 2 buildings in one :D

Since they are joined at the top it's counted as one building, while other twin towers are counted as two, so even though it's just as difficult to build, in terms of bragging rights this will cause one less supertall for China. :)

The last few pictures makes it look like a taller version of mandarin oriental in shanghai

can't wait to see it's connecting the towers soon. also i don't think it will take much more time to be topped out. few months or so if it stays with a good construction speed :banana:

Can't believe how nearly symmetrical the layout of the CBD will be. It doesn't usually work with most cities, as it leads to an inorganic and over-planned feel in the city center. But I think it may work well in Suzhou, such a historical and scenery rich place, which could be served well by some geometric purity.

If that towers behind it wil be build, this nice tower will look so small.:(

True, it sounds weird, but that right tower is maybe a bit too tall? It makes everything else look small.

I hope those planned buildings in post 387 are just for studying the potential of this area, and not for real. These designs are way too anonymous (= boring).

Some of this urban planning does seem quite impractical. Look how far one would have to walk, just to cross that main road in front of the tower. They should at least build a walkway in the middle, right beneath the gate.

this building is just amazing, but i think it is not a stand alone tower, it just doesnt look right for a gate to be the tallest in a skyline like that, so i really hope the even taller towers behind it will turn into shape one day to make this show its full glory :cheers:

the connection was only temporary! when i was today in Suzhou it was gone again!

But all of a sudden i heard some fireworks and they lifted up the piece that really will connect the two towers. was complete coincidence that i was present....

there will not be a skybridge between the two buildings. they are far too far away from each other. Even if it was structural possible it would be far to expensive, although it would be amazing for sure.

Its seems to be not cool anymore to build identical twins...
