SSP diagram has had this up for two years (completed 2007). Little did I know it's still a hole in the ground. What a gorgeous building...eventually.

The main structure itself, is very unique yet refined. I am not a big fan of large groups of masterplanned tower blocks however...usually creates an uninviting environment. Thanks for the pics!

The bridge is a big WOW.

I didn't like it at first time,but now I'm liking it more and more.The impact of this building will be huge,and there will be even taller towers on each side to enhance the gateway effect!

the boss who build this huge building named "yang xiu"

actually this twin tower building r a bit different, north one is 72f, and south is 68f, cuz the south one mainly for office and hotel use, and north one for residence use..

the best part of this building is that a underground metro line (suzhou No.1 metro line) pass the middle of those two buildings, and connect with the building underground

two days before, it finsihed digging already, it start to pour cement....

2010, this building will be the most famous building all over the world..

Well, I dont know whether it is going to be the most famous one or not, nevertheless it is very nice building.

Does anybody know if this design is purposely structured to harness the wind and reduce power usage, it reminds me of several LEED buildings that funnel air through the building to create energy.

Suzhou is an ancient city. Marco Polo described it (along with nearby Hangzhou) as the most magnificent in the world. It is criss-crossed with canals and the ancient city is surrounded by a wide moat. The imperial canal which goes all the way to Beijing passes very nearby.

Today the original city is all still low-rise and is protected. Suzhou has two main high-rise districts on opposite sides of the main city (at least it did when I last went ~5 years ago. It's a bit like Beijing except that there the modern highrise forms a massive donut all the way around the ancient city.

The cbd in Suzhou is thus in the outskirts!

I like the way they are planning. the old town remains elegant and classic, and the new town is just, well, breathtaking.

Could you name it? I can't think of any in Dubai that look like this.
The only thing even remotely similar to this that I can think of would be Dubai Pearl, though of course the only commonality is having a joint roof.
