Inferious August 23rd, 2009, 07:15 PM the blue running track goes nicely with the rest of the interior Sponsor August 23rd, 2009, 08:30 PM That reflecing glass doesn't look good IMO. A bit corny. And I don't like interior colours. Basically it's too colourful. Should've looked more gravy. rakim August 23rd, 2009, 08:54 PM ^^ besides seats, which are high quality, everything is bad in this stadium but... better than before. The main problem is that the stadium already today looks old, till 2012 where in the meantime the world will see the fantastic stadiums in South Africa, this will be look like from a previous era. NMAISTER007 August 23rd, 2009, 08:59 PM Im really excited that they started to install the tracks :D NMAISTER007 August 23rd, 2009, 09:01 PM more news. i just read that the stadium is opening december 5 this year. thats two stadiums fully completed this year so then they can consentrate with the rest of the stuff such as transportation 3 stadiums completed, 3 more to go :) VelesHomais August 23rd, 2009, 09:48 PM For Euro 2012 2 opened, 2 more to go. Dnipro and Odesa will not host Euro 2012. polac August 24th, 2009, 11:34 AM Maybe instead of asking you should check almost any of the pages in this thread? Everyone has the same access to these photographs. http://pressing.net.ua/pressing/UserFiles/Image/Euro-2008_Girls/B7.jpg This is around the stadium? VelesHomais August 24th, 2009, 04:04 PM But it's pretty close, isn't it? Even on this aerial there are plenty of trees anyway, except the parkinglot. ewild August 25th, 2009, 09:13 PM 2009-08-25 http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/468/001xnw.jpg http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/9117/002ixa.jpg http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/1619/003dsg.jpg http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/4700/004ooa.jpg http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/8616/005vaw.jpg http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/6751/006pbt.jpg http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/7156/007xaz.jpg http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/2318/008tqh.jpg http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/5954/009cth.jpg http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/5562/010mhg.jpg http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/2103/011pso.jpg http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/7883/012yty.jpg http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/406/013ugx.jpg http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/3742/014knv.jpg http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/9319/015xah.jpg http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/8746/016pqu.jpg http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/1922/017rjt.jpg http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/9624/018bmo.jpg NMAISTER007 August 25th, 2009, 10:13 PM ^^ Good progress ;) metros11 August 25th, 2009, 10:52 PM "It's ugly, I don't like the colors, where are the trees..." You people just love complaining, don't you. The stadium looks good. Get over it. Ukraine August 25th, 2009, 11:02 PM the stadium looks beautiful, I don't understand why people hate it.. NMAISTER007 August 26th, 2009, 02:39 PM If you think carefully, this will be one of the best stadiums in Ukraine (Not the best, just one of the best). One day when Ukraine will get more huge modern stadiums, the Donbass-Arena will not be as popular anymore. Inferious August 27th, 2009, 03:04 AM If you think carefully, this will be one of the best stadiums in Ukraine (Not the best, just one of the best). One day when Ukraine will get more huge modern stadiums, the Donbass-Arena will not be as popular anymore. i think olimpysky, the lviv and donbass stadiums will be the best looking stadiums. kharkiv stadium will also be modern as the other ones, but its not the best looking. but its not ugly like other people said. DiVo August 27th, 2009, 03:18 PM This stadium is not finished yet. So let's talk if it is ugly or not after December 5. And as it was noticed it is "Metalist" stadium, so it is logical that there are lots of metal constructions. Even though I can't say that it is ugly, what I can say is that it definitely differs from other stadiums, especially exterior. Also, you can see here (http://ukraine2012guide.com/index.php?option=com_joomgallery&func=viewcategory&catid=50&Itemid=63&lang=en) that at night lights can improve the situation. And one more thing. All seats at the Metalist stadium will be installed by 12 September 2009 (http://ukraine2012guide.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=135%3Aall-seats-at-the-metalist-stadium-will-be-installed-by-12-september-2009&lang=en) VelesHomais August 27th, 2009, 11:31 PM I love it, it's very unusual :) It has a little bit of the "1980's, Terminator 2" feeling, in a good way ;) http://i27.tinypic.com/2v3hhk0.jpg NMAISTER007 August 28th, 2009, 12:11 AM ^^ Touché vanbasten September 9th, 2009, 02:11 PM 09.09.2009 http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/news/244.html http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1210.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1211.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1212.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1213.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1214.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1215.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1216.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1217.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1218.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1219.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1220.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1221.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1222.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1223.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1224.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1225.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1226.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1227.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1228.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1229.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1230.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1231.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1232.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1233.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1234.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1235.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1236.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1237.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1238.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1239.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1240.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1241.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1242.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1243.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1244.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1245.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1246.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1247.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1248.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1249.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1250.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1251.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1252.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1253.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/55/1254.jpg Bogus Law September 9th, 2009, 07:52 PM veeeeeeeeery nice :) Andrzej_3598 September 10th, 2009, 10:27 PM Really nice. At the time of first redevelopment kharkiv was only reserve for 2012. It follows similar principals and style to that of classic stadiums that have retained there shape after renovation such as brussels national, berlin olympic and ferynoord. They just need the plasticterminator to sort out that woeful pitch and it should be a good venue. I have visited kharkiv twice and it will be a good city for a host venue although not sure about accommodation but the centre has a good feel with plenty of huge squares and open areas for football villages etc and pre post match events as is the uefa bandwagon nowadays plus good transport links especially to kiev which is probably why it was chosen above other cities with potentially better stadia. VelesHomais September 12th, 2009, 07:56 PM And it has a brand new airport under construction. Huskies September 12th, 2009, 08:57 PM great colour on the track !! :D they should have made the half moon black instead of cyan though .. ewild September 13th, 2009, 09:10 PM the 1st match with all the seats installed, and somebody in there =) http://sfw.org.ua/uploads/posts/2009-09/1252841261_36.jpg http://sfw.org.ua/uploads/posts/2009-09/1252841266_37.jpg http://www.metallist.kharkov.ua/files/gallery/57/1318.jpg Ukraine September 13th, 2009, 09:42 PM didnt expect that many people... What is left for the construction of the Metallist Stadium? Its weird, I think this stadium will be completed like 1 month before it will open, the stadium is practically done :) NMAISTER007 September 14th, 2009, 07:58 PM And wow, on that match against Dynamo, there were only 9 free seats  vanbasten September 14th, 2009, 09:45 PM And wow, on that match against Dynamo, there were only 9 free seats  Why 9? I guess it sorta depends whether Kharkiv gets chosen as a host city next month... in any case, I think the stadium is great - the spider look makes it very interesting! Would love to go see a match there :) Inferious November 11th, 2009, 11:54 PM :eek2: what a poor neighbourhood, just like the stadium outside:ohno: it looks like their improving the area around the stadium. so it should look nicer when the stadium is opened in december NMAISTER007 November 13th, 2009, 11:24 AM The date of the opening of this stadium has been changed to the 5th of December (Only on a few days earlier though, but still, the earlier the better :)) mihai_alex November 13th, 2009, 06:59 PM :eek2: what a poor neighbourhood, just like the stadium outside:ohno: That looks poor to you...princess? it actually looks decent, even good, for a commie area. VelesHomais November 13th, 2009, 10:49 PM I think the gloomy weather made it look worse :) The area is going to be quite nice, there's a construction of a new, large entertainment complex (mall) in front of the stadium and there were many other projects for the immediate vicinity. As to the housings (commieblocks) they are standard for the former soviet block, neither best nor worst. Konrad85 November 14th, 2009, 01:02 AM ^^:wtf: what's wrong with these roads ??? And the surroundings of this stadium is grossly poor mihai_alex November 14th, 2009, 12:22 PM It seems that some people(konrad and rakim) don't get the fact that the whole surroundings of the stadium is suffering reshaping, redecorating and rehabilitating. That's why there's so much mud,and looks so "poor".Though the buildings look clean and decent, not poor. VelesHomais November 14th, 2009, 10:20 PM Yes, the areas with mud and dirt are future construction and development sites. But I thought that was understood... Original concept: k7ofprLTF3Q lukaszek89 November 15th, 2009, 01:47 AM nice stadium;) NMAISTER007 November 16th, 2009, 11:26 AM Will they be able to build all of those modern buildings next to the stadium before 2012? VelesHomais November 16th, 2009, 04:07 PM I don't think they intended to build all of them, it's just a concept view how the area will gradually be developed. The financial crisis became a big obstacle to most of these projects. alfons_mukha November 29th, 2009, 07:41 PM Призываю каждого, кто не равнодушен к судьбе украинского футбола, поддержать ПЕТИЦИЮ ЗА ОТСТАВКУ ПРЕЗИДЕНТА ФФУ. And these stadiums will NOT be used for the Euro. :ohno: It's a big shame. It has a athletics track and the stadium itself is not brand new but renovated. Although track poses inconvenience, it is rather up to owners discretion whether to include it or not. Also, there does not seem to be any qualitative or regulatory issue with reconstructed stadium. Anyhow, it didn't hurt hosting capabilities of such stadiums like King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels (Euro 2000) - rennovated + track, Busan Asiad Stadium/Incheon Munhak Stadium/Daegu Stadium/Gwangju World Cup Stadium/Nissan Stadium/Shizuoka Stadium/ Nagai Stadium/ Miyagi Stadium/ Ōita Stadium/ Niigata Stadium (WC 2002) - all have tracks, Olympiastadion Berling / Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion Stuttgart/ Frankenstadion in Nuremberg (WC 2006)- all rennovated +track, Ernst-Happel-Stadion Vienna, Letzigrund Zurich (Euro 2008) - all rennovated +track, Royal Bafokeng Stadium (WC 2010) - track. My point is that such stadiums have always been used in competitions of this level, and there are good utilization reasons to do so. This one is aethetically bland - yep, but there is nothing operationally wrong with it. And compared to Odesa or Dnipropetrovsk, you get ~+7K fans. Something gives me a feeling if a tournament would be hosted in any developed EU country, nobody would question the stadium. But we are in Eastern Europe, evil and incapable by default, so someting wrong about it has to be found (at least that's how some critical argumentation looks to me) Evil78 December 6th, 2011, 04:52 AM Although track poses inconvenience, it is rather up to owners discretion whether to include it or not. But we are in Eastern Europe, evil and incapable by default, so someting wrong about it has to be found (at least that's how some critical argumentation looks to me) We can argue about this all day long, but there is one fact: a few thousand people sitting behind the two goals will need binoculars to see something from the action. Especially those sitting in the first 10-15 rows. You know how many thousands of Euros o foreigner will have to spend to be able to watch a game live from those seats? (included travel, hotel, ticket and other expenses) And he will see what?...some small points running around the field? This is a matter of comfort on a football stadium in the 21st century. Especially at a final tournament. So there is not much we can argue about here, is it? Plus other small details such as the difference in atmosphere when playing football in a stadium with the stands near the pitch, or in a stadium where the stands are 15-20 meters away. You don't have to search the history books and remind us of all those stadiums with tracks from the past. We all remember them. I also remember that football used to be played with a leather ball, and spectators used to sit on wooden benches. But we are talking about progress here, aren't we? It doesn't matter if it's Eastern or Western Europe. Of course stadiums like Olympiastadion in Berlin are great venues, but ask ANYBODY in Germany where he prefers to watch a football game: In Dortmund or in Berlin? http://www.metalist.ua/files/gallery/674/20252.jpg arnau_Vic December 8th, 2011, 02:41 PM looks fantastic  MS20 December 9th, 2011, 08:10 AM Great stadium, but completely overshadowed by everything that has come after it. WorldCupWatcher January 14th, 2012, 10:14 PM Yes, i know. but because of the fact that the stands are relatively close to the track, and it's blue color, makes it more a football stadium than, for example, the old delle alpi stadium. still not a textbook football stadium, but i hope you know what i mean Werkself January 17th, 2012, 09:26 AM For an athletics its quite OK for football, been there at an Euroleague game. Greece, the cheapest people of all Europeans :P ). It's true though that many of the big spenders will be based in Poland and cross the border only for the games, but still... The Swedish too will be with England and France. So yes, you are quite right. Don't know about the rest. alexandru.mircea May 19th, 2012, 04:27 PM The Swedish too will be with England and France. So yes, you are quite right. Spot on. The biggest spenders of them all, I would assume. POLSKA GOLA May 19th, 2012, 05:11 PM I bet that the Polish organizers are very upset at the draw. By the way,the long range weather forecasts available(the best one) is going for some really warm weather in Poland and Ukraine for june. Thought id mention it. TEBC May 20th, 2012, 04:40 AM I would say two, but of group stage, not of whole euro. OTOH it was really good draw considering chances of polish team to prgress from group (out of 5 teams that Poland could realistically hope to win againt) 3 fell to polish group (Czechia, Russia, Greece). Ukrainians may enjoy seeing bettter teams in their country, but they also have little chance of progressing in their group (England, France, Sweden). You should be convinced the Greek supporters traveling to Poland (and there will be quite a few of them believe me) will be anything but "cheap". alexandru.mircea May 21st, 2012, 01:07 AM ^ it's just a cliche that I used for a joke, mate. Spain x Italy is still a great game Not sure why it wouldn't be a great game. There will be many great games in the Poland-hosted group, and in fact I think that group A could turn very entertaining because the teams are quite even in quality. PaulFCB May 21st, 2012, 05:38 PM Even in quality but what quality? :sleepy: They can be happy with the fac they have chances in Qualifying to the Quarters, but Group A si probably the worst I've seen at a Euro ever. Rev Stickleback May 22nd, 2012, 01:01 PM Even in quality but what quality? :sleepy: They can be happy with the fac they have chances in Qualifying to the Quarters, but Group A si probably the worst I've seen at a Euro ever. The ability of the players in international football tournaments has very little bearing on how good the games will be. The idea that one group's games will be better than another because the teams in it are a bit better in quality is just flawed.
