You like the killers. Me too. They were great when they came to town last month. I love them... deeply.

I'll consider posting my myspace... perhaps later.... isn't there something to be said for being an enigma?

Besides, I doubt many SSC members have myspace pages. Some of them appear to be of advanced age. I mean that affectionately...

Jason, can't we just have one dedicated thread like this for off-topic posting? I feel like I'm spamming when I'm not referencing a particular development...

Remember, I"m creating a forum whenever I settle on a name... Sorry, but I've never been one to rush changes to the forum, since I don't like revisions.

This thread is fine, so long as it stays on the up and up.

No Jason, I was just making a general comment about avatars. Every time I see the name Jasonhouse I think of your avatar picture. Oh and your not that much older than me according to myspace so I wouldn't worry about it.

Jonknee - I am hopelessly stupid for GMPD, seen them 5 times now since dec. 05, and believe me the shows weren't all as great as the one at the crowbar. But I still love them to death. Oh I must ask, you weren't the one trying to set Donny's crotch on fire, were you?

I'm still deciding whether I want to put up a MySpace. I have many friends who have pages, but some of them have private profiles (so I can't access them). At the same time though, I want to keep anything that I post to a relative minimum. I have long disliked social networking sites because of the following...

I don't believe that my personal information is anyone else's business
Many businesses/corporations are screening such sites for inapropriate content
What goes on the internet, stays on the internet...

Any pointers?

I had one on both myspace and facebook. Due to personal reasons BOTH are now de-activated. I have found that generally they are used as a mass free dating service, something I am not interested in given that I am married. I find that I can keep in touch with the people I most want to through face to face get togethers or regular email.

That may be true, but that's why I set my profile to Private. I've found people on there that I haven't seen in many years from high school. It's convenient when people have moved away and you don't know how to find them otherwise.

Thanks Jason. Its certainly a fun and rewarding business though the cars and the models are just the good times side of things, our primary business is much more mundane, providing print media, design, direct mail and marketing packages for clients. The two sides of the business play off of each other though and keep things lively.

Good reality check actually Robert. Working in a hospital is tough. I have a few friends who are studying nursing at HCC. One of them is already working at TGH and she finds her job to be very tough. But she loves what she does nonetheless.

I also know two people who are EMTs in the US Air Force. One is stationed in San Antonio, but got sent to Iraq. He won't be back in the states until later this month...at the earliest. I've lost contact with him but hope to contact him later down the road. The other, is stationed in Las Vegas and nearly got sent to Afghanistan (he dislocated his shoulder about two weeks prior, so he didn't go after all). Unlike the friend in Texas however, I've severed ties with the guy in Las Vegas cause he started being ignorant towards me when I tried to get in contact with him. His ex-girlfriend told me not to contact him anymore cause he has an attitude problem. So that was the end of that...

Actually, of all the shows on TV, scrubs comes the closest to reality. If you take away the obvious slap stick away from it, its actually very realistic. You spend about 5 mins with the patient, there is always someone who hates you, your attendings kinda treat you like crap, the nurses suck, and you spend most of your time at the nurses station looking at a chart. I am kinda burnt out of school so luckily I am in the hospital now and its not so bad

Ha. I've got you all beat on feeling old and losery for still being in school. I'm 33, and I'm not even in school this semester. I have like 90 credits though, which I can actually convert into two associates, and a certificate or two this summer if I choose to. The abridged version of how that can be; I worked and partied my time and money away until I was like 26, and then started going to school in earnest when the relationship with my girlfriend at the time went towards marriage and planning to have a kid together. Of course, that's when I got all f-ed up in a car wreck, which messed me up big time for years, both physically and mentally. And then I had a kid, and priorities again changed to making money right then, not school. Blah blah, boo hoo. I'll be in school this summer, and will likely be in school somewhere in the fall.

It goes to show that it's not too late to go back to school. Many people head into post-secondary education later than the typical "right after high school" thing due to various things happening in their lives. I've seen people in their 40s and 50s attending classes around the bay area. Either trying to earn a degree they never got earlier on, changing career tracks, or other reasons.

I have at least 10 people in my med school class who are in their 40's going to med school which takes a minimum of 7 yrs with residency just to get your first full pay check, and assuming you take the least involved field. Plus there at least 30 people in their 40's in my class so it goes to show its never too late
