So,Reason for Fast Track Progress is to have Strong and Enthusiastic Developer's Willing(about 20 Years). if Nothing is possible willing,This Project could not Enlight and had to cancel.

Hello everyone. I am new member to this forum, however, I have been following the threads from the beginning. I am one of the mechanical engineers on the MEP team working on this project form the US consultants team. I am excited to finally see this project in construction! I hope to be a helpful member to this community and open to answer any questions.

I am happy as well to see this project making its progress after a long arduous political wrangling for more than a decade with the Korean air force and other opposition political leaders. More than 10 years of the damn wasteful fight in which Korean politicians love to kill their time as usual. Sure, one can argue that there may have been a legitimate point against grand projects such as this. My point is that SK could have a few more giants already finished or going up by now if so much time was not wasted. I am talking about 10s of thousands of new jobs and other economic benefits for Koreans.

thats the most impressive hole and scenery ive ever seen. high tech constuction site

you'll notice that a lot of projects in seoul shares such scenery. the bedrock is deep and i believe the government mandates many stories of underground floors for potential evacuation space in case of an airborne/artillery attack from the north. the developers also build many underground floors to get the most bang per buck since the land prices are ridic high

Lotte's name is originally influenced by GERMAN. An additional remark pronounce is follow japanses.
Because Goethe's Charlotte's japanses nicknames is ロッテ moreover it's japanses pronounciation is 'lotte'.
In result, Mr shin guk ho influenced by GERMAN. After that he speak with japanses pronounciation and make company.

To me, it looks like a bad copy of the Russia Tower.

Why? The only similarity is that it's composed of a number of elements that merge together at the crown but leave an opening. Russia Tower had 3 separate wings whereas this is sort of a split tapering cylinder, the general shape and the detailing was geometric while Lotte Tower is organic, the glass on Lotte Tower is pale-colored while Russia Tower's was just plain glass, and Russia Tower isn't being built.

Yeah Mr. Obvious, everyone knows that the Russia Tower wont be built. It is the upper shape which reminds me of it. Only thing i can think of is Russia Tower when i see it. And thats why I said "bad copy of Russia Tower" because it is missing a lot from original Russia Tower, but its all that shape.

So essentially, you're saying they share one similarity, and because of that this tower is a "bad copy" of Russia Tower? Doesn't make much sense to me.

Lotte World Premium Tower is designed by KPF which is one of the most famous architectural firms in the whole world. Many supertalls were designed by them, for example, Hongkong ICC, Shanghai WFC, Tokyo Roppongi hills, London Heron tower, The pinnacle and several world-renowned buildings.

Maybe, but at the same time, it is thoughtful (the split down the center is supposed to signify the old city center), and for Seoul's first supertall (super-supertall), I think it's really very nice. Besides, it'll dominate the skyline of this part of the city for a long, long time, or at least until the Hyundai Global Business Center starts to go up:lol:!

Considering how long the other proposal's been the only one mentioned, never mind the signs at the site showing the other design, that'll be it.

I like this building more than the Shanghai Tower. It has an incredibly massive appearance. The only thing I don't like is that the top is a crown instead of normal floors.

If you look closely, the foundation isnt finished yet. Right now it has a very open underground space, which creates an illusion of fat cores.

Once completed, it will be a good icon just like an obelisk. In the evening the illuminated top will be good to watch as well. It is kind of sorry seeing that top main tower or bottom of the tower are not giving quite harmonized feeling. Hope it willnot turn out one of Frankenstine style buildings. The whole Tower Image reminds me Mr. Yamasaki's Twin Towers in New York which were designed more than 30 years ago. They were good icons anyway. Hope this bldg will have better destini and rather give hopes to people. :):) :)

With they build a skybridge that goes across Lotte World and the Lotte Super Tower so that people don't have to cross the streets. Plus people can have an awesome view toward Han river from the Bridge :)

How deep is the foundation? I hope the earthquake has been taken into consideration before going about the foundation? The whole foundation is literally metal and very well organized!

It's six stories deep, according to the CTBUH. As for earthquake protection, I'm sure it's been engineered-in, but the Korean Peninsula is actually very seismically stable.

I can't wait to see this tower go up!

From ground level to bottom of the B6 basement level is 31.6 meters. The B6 is where all the boilers and chillers are.

기존 현장 사진보다 조금씩 뭔가 바뀌고 있는데 잘 모르시겠죠?

우선 고층부 지하 5층은 골조공사(뼈대를 만드는것)가 거의 완료 되었습니다. 자세한 공사 사진은 비밀~~~~~ ^^;; 가까이에서 보면 철근이 하늘로 쭉쭉 뻗어있답니다. 여러분이 상상하는 그 이상의 공사현장이랍니다

저층부(쇼핑몰 포함)는 Mat타설을 하고 있습니다. 건물을 지을때 가장 바닥에 콘크리트를 깔고 건물을 짓거든요. 그동안은 레미콘 차량이 콘크리트를 많이 부었지만 앞으로는 CPB라는 고정식 펌프기계를 이용해서 콘크리트를 타설할 예정입니다.

Early construction phases are always so chaotic, I don't even know where in those pics the building will stand. I guess the few thin columns near the bottom of the last photo aren't part of the tower, maybe some underground parking next to it :dunno: And will the dark gray square over there be where the core will be located? :dunno:

^^It also feels like one of the slowest. But if Lotte can build this tower as fast as they said (something like a floor per week??), it'll go up quick once it gets going up.

Are those evidences actually substantial enough to prove that they are better designs looking at the renderings? However, I still think the current design would create more impact on the location better than the others.

That would be a huge tower. The location is perfect Id say. Between Seokchon lake and the Jamsil financial district. I would love to see this completed.

^^Yes, the Chinese are constructing the tallest of Eastern Asia (not entire Asia because then the Burj Khalifa is the tallest), but Lotte Jamsil Tower (unfortunately) won't be the second tallest, only the 5th tallest if the Greenland Center in Wuhan (606m) will be built. The other three tallest will be:
Ping'an IFC (660m) in Shenzhen,
Shanghai Tower (632m) in Shanghai and
Goldin Finance 117 (597m) in Tianjin. All of the three supertalls are already U/C.
But I lately also heard of a 650m tower that will be built in Guangzhou. Currently the project has been approved.
If this case becomes real, the Lotte Jamsil Tower only will be the 8th tallest worldwide, but a quite nice design! ;)

But don't worry, the most important of a skyscraper is not its height, the design is much more important, although the height makes it looking more amazing I must say.:)

They have different shapes--round-sided versus angular--and the Shard is three "points" to its crown, and this has two. Nevermind the different scales of the building.

As far as I know, Lotte Jamsil Super Tower was designed by KPF(Kohn Pedersen Fox) before Renzo Piano's Shard London Bridge.

I 1000% agree with you. While London is a really nice city, it's Shard is an ugly Slaughterhotel rip off, but fortunately by far not as ugly as the Slaughterhotel itself. On the other hand Super Tower is one of the most beautiful towers in the world even though it's in fact a Klingon Vor'Cha cruiser rip off :hahano:

My statement remains that it looks like Shard at first view than any other building, and there is no any exertion of mine claiming of rip off with that at all. I think both buildings are beautiful and great in their respective locations.

If there are people who really appreciate and have much concerns for this building in this forum, I should be one of them. Indeed, I would like to see more images of the building as the construction progresses.

Does anybody know why the foundation took that form of construction? It is very much different from the conventional foundations of most skyscrapers I have seen in this forum.

Logical thinking? India has immense inflation, economic slowdown and social unrest on it's doorsteps, this project will (most likely) not be picked up untill maybe the next decade.
