The design by SOM was not accepted by owner.
The current design in the first picture and being built now is by the other company, not SOM.

This building has a very interesting structure. I don't remember ever seeing this huge perimeter columns :cheers:

^^ shanghai tower, pingan, chow tai fook, another lotte tower and many more to come. Mega columns were innovative when they were introduced (by taipei 101 if I think) but I can definitely see this technique used more and more often these days being alternative to (or used in hybrid with) burj khalifa three wings design.

I didn't know that there was a bridge implemented in the huge complex. Efficiant way to cross over for pedestrians.

There is nothing to doubt (or guess) about. We know it for long time already it is being build by lotte construction.

롯데그룹이 애초 계획보다 오피스텔을 두 배 이상 늘리는 것을 주요 내용으로 하는 잠실 롯데월드타워 설계변경을 추진하고 있다. 상업ㆍ업무용 초고층 랜드마크로 건설하겠다는 명분을 내세워 건축허가를 받은 것과 달리 주거기능을 대폭 강화해 수익성을 높이려는 의도로 분석돼 논란이 예상된다.

8일 서울시에 따르면 롯데물산은 지난 5월 잠실 롯데월드타워 건축설계변경안을 서울시건축위원회에 제출했다. 변경안은 기존 117실로 계획됐던 오피스텔을 250실로 두 배 이상 늘리고 모든 오피스텔을 전용면적 132~251㎡의 중대형으로만 짓는 것으로 돼 있다. 롯데물산이 6성급 호텔을 운영하는 등 롯데월드타워를 최고급 빌딩으로 짓겠다고 공언한 만큼 오피스텔도 상당한 고가(高價) 주택이 될 것으로 전망된다.

이와 함께 230실 규모로 운영하기로 했던 호텔은 20실 더 늘리기로 했으며 롯데월드타워 주변의 부속건물도 5층짜리와 11층짜리 건물을 하나로 합쳐 기존 4개동에서 3개동으로 축소하기로 했다. 이와 관련, 롯데물산의 한 관계자는 "설계변경을 추진하는 것은 사실"이라며 "부속건물로 둘러싸인 롯데월드타워의 개방성을 높이려는 목적"이라고 설명했다.

하지만 롯데물산이 설계변경을 통해 준주거시설인 오피스텔을 대폭 늘리려는 데 대해 당초 건축허가를 받을 때 내세웠던 '수익성은 떨어지지만 서울의 랜드마크를 짓겠다'는 명분과 달리 결국 롯데월드타워를 주상복합건물로 지어 수익성도 포기하지 않겠다는 의도를 드러냈다는 비판을 피하기 어렵게 됐다.

이 같은 롯데월드타운의 설계변경안이 서울시건축위원회의 승인을 받을지는 미지수다. 롯데월드타운의 사업승인과 한 차례 설계변경 승인으로 특혜 논란을 일으킨 적이 있는 서울시로서도 부담이기 때문이다.

The top is a large parapet will no occupiable space so the roof height is at the beginning of the parapet. the tower is very far to the south-east of the city, but it is still <60km from to the border of north korea. so with clear weather i think it is possible to see over the border. i also do not think that there are big mountains blocking the view, so i think it should be possible, but well you can't see much in the distance anyway, north korea is just landscape in that area and there isn't even a wall, since there is a river dividing the countries on the western border.

I guess you can say both :) I had to meet this one person for work, and I found out that they were going to be in Seoul earlier, so I figured that I may as well go and meet them there, and because Seoul is a place that I've always wanted to visit, may as well stay for a week and enjoy it. If you'd give me some infos I would be very grateful, I want to get the most out of that week :)

I will try to wait until completion to return to my home neighborhood of Jamsil. I am excited to see the entire area finish though I think I may have to wait some years because it is a huge project. Maybe by them my daughter will be of good age to enjoy Lotte World.

I have been an advocate of this building in this forum. Finally, it's come to the level of significance now the core is well above the foundation.

Thanks for the clarification, so this tower will be approximately 1,680 feet to the roof. Only 6 feet taller than Lotte Town Tower in Busan but taller is still taller.

I think I like shard more. First because it fits its location much better than lotte and second (personal) because I like straight lines in buildings more than curves. Especially in tapering tower like this they (curves) makes building look fat. But still I think lotte is great tower. I like its crown very much, and I especially love the scale of this monster. The construction itself is much more interesting than this of the shard.

The Shard is one of the most beautiful skyscrapers in the world, but lotte is okay, too. It's kinda hard to compare them, actually.

The three towers of Galleria Palaca complex are the tallest buildings in Songpa. The trio residential skyscrapers come around 150 meters, just bit higher than Lotte Castle Twin towers that make 149 meters. Lotte hotel in fact is just 115 meters tall.

They began with the steel already, so probably not long until the floors are fully build arround the core. Maybe 1-2 months

Based on the latest photos I estimated the current height to be 92 meters or 302 feet, however, this might not be exact, so if anybody has a plan of the building or knows which floor ends at which height, please let me know :cheers:

Yes. I really don't know how fast and slow it will be.I'm normal person,not Lotte World Tower's Related Worker.
but,I heard related news about ACS(Auto Climbing System)....
Disciplinary(Originally) Lotte world Tower's Structural Construction speed is 1 floor per 3 days(Burj Khalifa's Construction speed). but,it is impossible to go up everyday.maybe it is impossibility of Construction Technology.. I can understand this fact. I want it goes up normal Construction speed for Safety and Securities!!

Those shots from the very high vantage point made this tower look so much bigger. It's going to be huge.
