mda, iti e si frica sa mergi sa pozezi pe acolo, d apoi sa ajunga turistii straini prin zona. sper ca in curand cat mai multi investitori sa apara in zona sa renoveze cladirile vechi, ca asa nu se mai poate. pentru mine este trist sa vad cum arata peninsula, totusi, in poze da bine.
este aceeasi situatie ca in Lipscani, si la fel este in mai toate orasele din tara, cu exceptia catorva, ca Sibiul de exemplu. nu vreau sa par rasist sau ceva, dar tiganii fac ravagii peste tot. bai nu stiu cum se face, dar fix acolo unde avem arhitectura veche de valoare hop si ei, sunt ca molimele, nu stiu, paraziti, pacat ca n am facut o poza cu o casa din Oradea, unde 'baietii' au scos si ferestrele, probabil ca sa se incalzeasca si au scobit si peretii imprejur, astfel incat parca erau rosi peretii de sobolani, pe bune. dezolant. asa ceva am mai vazut la Medias. acolo primarul nu mai stia ce sa mai faca cu tiganii care locuiau in zona veche, si povestea ca a scos dintr un bloc de garsoniere 2 remorci de gunoi. dupa cateva zile situatia era aceeasi ca inainte sa se faca curatenie. un record am putea spune, nu?!:gaah:

Intr-un post al meu din sectiunea cu constructii era un interviu cu Schwartzenberg care zicea ca cei care fac Esplanda au in plan un in proiect mare in zona peninsulara (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=11563629&postcount=39). Deasemenea, nebunul a gasit informatii asemnatoare si le-a postat In zona veche (peninsulara) de care vorbeste Elan se gasesc din plin tigani, case daramate, abandonate, cocioabe etc. Nu stiu ce statut au terenurile alea de acolo insa eu sper sa faca naibii odata curatenie.

Cum cei de la Trigranit tot vorbesc de un plan ptr. Constanta sunt inca curios daca il vor face si cand. In oras sunt bani si afacerile infloresc. Cu toate acestea marii investitori ne cam ocolesc. Cred ca 95% din constructiile care se fac in Constanta sunt mici initiative ale intreprinzatorilor locali. Vreau sa vad insa proiecte mari si tzapene ca-n Bucuresti insa din pacate am impresia ca inca investitori mari ezita/asteapta sa se bage. Toata lumea are de @ierdut din asta !

* cred ca postasem odata un interviu cu Mazare care zicea de niste proiecte mari, cateva sute de milioane de euro, pe locul bazei RATC (?!) si langa viitoarea sosea de centura (spanioli). N-am auzit insa de nimic altceva despre asta, n-am incredere in Mazare si sper sa zboare la viitoarele alegeri. Din pacate mereu competitorii lui sunt ff slabi si n-ai ce alege ! Nu mai devreme de terminarea autostrazii soarelui ... si nu in turism dupa parerea mea (nu foarte curind ma refer; poate in 5 ani +); portul si americanii vor atrage investitiile mari; Constanta ca oras va atrage investitii medii IMHO :cheers:

Constanta ca oras nu are treaba cu turismul sezonier, deci nu punem in aceeasi oala cu Mamaia. Constanta ca oras are multe situri istorice, are peninsula, are arhitectura cea mai veche, si cea mai diversificata. de aceea cred ca ar merita un turism dezvoltat. si sa va spun de ce: pentru ca n am fost inclusi niciodata pe rutele de transport maritim de persoane, pentru ca n am avut niciodata un terminal de pasageri, pentru ca n am avut niciodata un port turistic adevarat cu o marina ca lumea.
de abia de cativa ani a fost deschis terminalul de pasageri al portului constanta care cred ca functioneaza deocamdata doar pentru niste amarate de rute Constanta Istanbul si retur sau pentru rarele stationari ale navelor 'mari' de persoane.

cum sa nu merite orasu asta un turism adevarat, cand uitati va si voi cate poze am postat pe thread ul Constanta si inca cate mai am! si inca cate cladiri si locuri mai am de fotografiat.

Constanta cred ca ar avea nevoie de o dezvoltare gen Bilbao, unde prezenta muzeului Guggenheim a facut practic sa explodeze piata constructiilor de calitate, unde arhitectii cei mai renumiti isi expun lucrarile fara nici o jena.

pai uitati va mai, a trebuit sa vina japonezii aia sa ne faca noua un studiu despre dezvoltarea portului Constanta si sa ne spuna ei ca de fapt tot portul ar trebui sa se dezvolte mai la sud, langa canalul Dunare-Marea Meagra, iar zona din nord a portului sa se urbanizeze pentru dezvoltari ulterioare in turism birouri si comert. si aici ne putem referi inclusiv la zgarie nori!
si tare as vrea sa vina japonezii sa ne si construiasca asa cum stiu ei mai bine.

BTW nu sunt insa de acord cu stationarea trupelor americane la noi. cu cat o sa i vad mai putin pe aici, cu atat mai bine.

^^ Sper sa-mi fie ideile clare: mie imi place Constanta ... si merita turisti; dar daca nu are infrastructura - dupa cum ai mentionat (si nici nu va fi interes pentru un master plan turistic) nu va atrage niciodata investitori adevarati; si ma refer aici la proiecte de miliarde ... mai ales ca e asa de aproape de locatii turistice consacrate ... sa nu mai spun ce scumpi sintem ...de ce crezi ca merg romanii in Grecia, Turcia sau Bulgaria?!!!? Fara nici o suparare, dar o mare parte din RO in ceea ce priveste turismul e o combinatie de amatorism si lasa-ma sa te las. Pai eu nu vorbesc aici de potential. Pai numai la combinatia litoral, Constanta Delta-Dunarii daca ne gindim :banana: dar fara infrastructura si tiganeala ( ma refer la modul de viata, plan urbanistic existent numai pe hirtie - vezi hotel fain si peste drum stau tiganii la seminte si la furat turistii etc; mizerie, mormane de gunoaie pe plaja ... bai nici nu vreau sa mai scriu ca ma enervez degeaba). Sa nu-mi mai amintesc ca la 100 metri de cazinou e "cartierul tiganesc" ... Deci eu vorbesc in termeni reali ca asa pe hirtie noi vom avea vreo 2000 km de autostrazi pina la anu' :cheers:

ROMANIA -- With a fleet of aircraft set to hit the skies over London this weekend at the Red Bull Air Race, another global air-sport has announced the first of its events for 2007. Aero GP, the only international air race series which features multiple aircraft racing simultaneously at close quarters, will launch the Constanta Challenge on the 25 – 26 August in Constanta, Romania. The event promises some of the most exciting aircraft racing anywhere in the world – while other international race series only allow one plane to fly at a time, Aero GP sees all competing craft in the air together.

The Constanta Challenge will be the third Aero GP event, following on from previous competitions in Slovenia in 2005 and the Grand Prix of Malta in 2006. Aero GP is unique in the world of motor sport with teams competing over three disciplines - the only air-racing series that features a combination of racing, air-to-air combat and target bombing. Points are awarded across the three disciplines, providing pilots with the ultimate test of flying ability.

Jeff Zaltman, Managing Director of Flying Aces Ltd, organisers of Aero GP, is delighted to be able to announce a new event for 2007:

“Air racing is enjoying a renaissance at the moment and we believe Aero GP provides something that no other motor sport can. The Constanta Challenge will be the only international competition that sees multiple aircraft racing at the same time – it makes for breathtaking racing and fierce competition. ROMANIA -- With a fleet of aircraft set to hit the skies over London this weekend at the Red Bull Air Race, another global air-sport has announced the first of its events for 2007. Aero GP, the only international air race series which features multiple aircraft racing simultaneously at close quarters, will launch the Constanta Challenge on the 25 – 26 August in Constanta, Romania. The event promises some of the most exciting aircraft racing anywhere in the world – while other international race series only allow one plane to fly at a time, Aero GP sees all competing craft in the air together.

The Constanta Challenge will be the third Aero GP event, following on from previous competitions in Slovenia in 2005 and the Grand Prix of Malta in 2006. Aero GP is unique in the world of motor sport with teams competing over three disciplines - the only air-racing series that features a combination of racing, air-to-air combat and target bombing. Points are awarded across the three disciplines, providing pilots with the ultimate test of flying ability.

Jeff Zaltman, Managing Director of Flying Aces Ltd, organisers of Aero GP, is delighted to be able to announce a new event for 2007:

“Air racing is enjoying a renaissance at the moment and we believe Aero GP provides something that no other motor sport can. Aici cu populatia oraselor din Romania e mult de discutat si asta din pacate e si din cauza INSSE cred .Oricum ca sa fim toti multumiti as sublinia faptul ca diferentele intre cele mai mari orase sunt de maxim 10000 locuitori(oficial) deci pe toate le-a proiectat comunismul cam la fel.

care te contrazice.Si datele de acolo le-am auzit si la televizor cum ca ar fi ultimele si Clujul ar fi acum pe locul 2.
De ce spun ca insse ne incurca este faptul ca la recensamantul din 2002 Clujul era dat cu vreo 318000 locuitori , fiind pe 2 dupa Iasi .Apoi a aparut o analiza din 2005 cica unde Clujul ar fi avut doar 297 000 . Adica a pierdut in 3 ani 20000 de oameni acuma cand isi revine economia . Ceva nu e clar . Si acum dau din nou aceasta suma de 310000 care este mult mai reala .

Aici deasemenea clujul e peste Constanta si e chiar anormal ca anul urmator adica in 2006 de cand e articolul pe care il pui tu sa plece 10000 de oameni din CLUJ de parca ar fi fost holera.

Tot timpul un port va avea avantaje si Constanta le-a avut din plin pe vremea comunismului, dar la fel beneficiaza de aceasta mentalitate mai mediteraneana sa-i zic asa care ii va aduce de pierdut daca nu a si facut-o deja .
As compara Constanta si Clujul cu Marsilia si Lyon . Desi are toate atuurile si le-a avut totdeauna Marsilia este net intrecuta economic de Lyon si dupa parerea mea asta se va intampla in viitorul apropiat si cu cele 2 orase din Romania asta doar daca nu se schimba clima in asa hal incat sa se poata face plaja tot anul la Marea Neagra.

Just wanted to see this city for myself, actually it's weird I was interested because I was flying from Karachi (Pakistan) to Brussels. Fell asleep somewhere over the Persian Gulf and woke up over Constanta. It just looked so nice from above, the sun was setting and the city lights were sparkling.

Commerce is everywhere. Any of the Slovak historical town (and we have plenty of it) are full of commerce and tourists..It´s a pity bud it´s unstopable But yes you can find here also some historical jewels which aren´t recognized for now (but only for now)..

Constanca is visited perhaps for the same reason as it is with Burgas (the worst city I have seen for now) or Varna..many seaside cities have larger amount of tourists...

The City Hall of Constanta was accepted as partner in URBAMECO, an european project of urban, social, economic and cultural regeneration of public housing estates in urban areas. The other nine partners of Constanta are : Goteborg, Birmingham, Belfast, Arnhem, Lodz, Pila, Wroclaw, Nea Ionia Magnesias. All these 10 european cities have some important historic districts for which the specialists appointed by EU will establish with each municipality the financial support they need in order to regenerate and rehabilitate those historical zones.


Primăria Constanţa s-a înscris, în calitate de partener, în proiectului pilot “URBAMECO” - Dezvoltarea urbană integrată în zonele metropolitane, în special în cele degradate sau în curs de degradare, proiect finanţat de Comisia Europeană, în cadrul programului URBACT. În acest proiect au fost acceptate ca partenere ale Constanţei alte nouă oraşe europene: Goteborg, Birmingham, Belfast, Arnhem (Olanda), Lodz (Polonia), Pila (Polonia), Wroclaw (Polonia), Nea Ionia Magnesias (Grecia), toate localităţi cu zone istorice, pentru care specialişti desemnaţi de către UE vor stabili împreună cu fiecare municipalitate în parte portofolii de proiecte cu surse de finanţare identificate pentru regenerarea urbană a acestor zone. Proiectul se desfăşoară în două etape pentru fiecare municipalitate din cadrul programului pilot. Constanţa deja a finalizat, în octombrie 2007, prima etapă, constînd în analizarea metodelor de succes pentru implementarea proiectelor urbane integrate în zona Peninsulară. Adrian Crăciun a declarat că cea de-a doua etapă urmează a fi finanţată în cadrul programului URBACT 2007-2013 şi se va desfăşura în perioada ianuarie 2008 - iunie 2009. „Odată intrată în acest proiect pilot, Constanţa are o garanţie suplimentară că va accesa fonduri europene pentru reabilitarea urbanistică a zonei Peninsulare. În primul rînd, prin acest proiect urmărim redarea funcţiilor tradiţionale ale Peninsulei: funcţia comercială, funcţia de promenadă şi funcţia rezidenţială. Avem posibilitatea să reabilităm faţadele, dar trebuie să avem calitatea de proprietar sau administrator al acestor imobile. Din păcate, din cauza problemelor juridice privind statutul clădirilor şi litigiilor în derulare privind stabilirea proprietarilor lor, încă nu ştim cui să ne adresăm pentru ca autoritatea să poată deveni administrator în vederea renovării faţadelor. Sperăm ca aceste litigii să fie soluţionate cît mai repede, pentru a se putea demara lucrările”, a declarat Adrian Crăciun.

Queenco Leisure says agrees terms for casino development in Constanta

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Queenco Leisure International Ltd said it has agreed terms of the concession agreement with Constanta Municipality, Romania, for concession rights over an historic building in the city, which it plans to renovate and operate as Casino Constanta.

Queenco will invest about 10.0 mln euro in the casino development and pay gross annual royalties of 140,000 euro to Constanta municipality.

Queenco plans to open Casino Constanta in the second half of 2009, and the casino will operate about 24 gaming tables and 250 slot machines.

The casino developer and operator said the agreement is for 49 years, but can be extended for a further 24 years.

Over 90 cruise ships with more than 30,000 tourists will arrive this year at the Passenger Terminal in the Port of Constantza.

Until now, 62 cruise ships under Swiss, Bahamas, Finland, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Germany, Holland and Malta flags have announced their arrival in the Port of Constantza.

Constantza will accommodate this year, one of the most important passenger ships at this moment. Amongst them “Rotterdam” having 237.91 meters and a capacity of 1,000 passengers, and “Costa Victoria”, 252.91 meters specialized in luxury services in the Mediterranean Sea.

Will return also, ships from companies that already used our port as destination as Grand Circle ("River Adagio", "River Aria", "River Rhapsody", "River Explorer", "River Concerto", "River Discovery"), Costa Crociere ("Costa Victoria"), Thomson Cruises ("The Calypso", "The Emerald"), Oceania Cruises ("Nautica"), etc. The first announced ship will arrive at 19th March at the Passenger Terminal.

As a premiere, starting with April, a new cruise line will operate twice a week between Constantza and Odessa.

Totusi dupa parerea mea si a multor surse Constanta are cea mai mare "arie metropolitana" daca mi se permite sa folosesc aces cuvant , asta daca excludem Galati Braila.Intradevar cu mamaia , navodari , ovidiu , agigea si altele Constanta e mare si are si potential sa devina o mare aglomeratie urbana.(poza din satelit e foarte edificativa)Eu sper sa fie chiar LA -ul Romaniei pt ca loc de "sprawl" este spre deosebire de cluj sau iasi.

Tot timpul un port va avea avantaje si Constanta le-a avut din plin pe vremea comunismului, dar la fel beneficiaza de aceasta mentalitate mai mediteraneana sa-i zic asa care ii va aduce de pierdut daca nu a si facut-o deja .
As compara Constanta si Clujul cu Marsilia si Lyon . Desi are toate atuurile si le-a avut totdeauna Marsilia este net intrecuta economic de Lyon si dupa parerea mea asta se va intampla in viitorul apropiat si cu cele 2 orase din Romania asta doar daca nu se schimba clima in asa hal incat sa se poata face plaja tot anul la Marea Neagra.

Clar e mai mare ca Bucurestiul si orice alta zona urbana din est. Va plimbati cu cursorul prin zona orasului Constanta si apare la un moment dat un poligon verde care delimiteaza clar zona metropolitana. Din satelit imi da impresia ca e mai mare decat imi inchipuiam. Sigur e mai mare ca Bucuresti.

(2) Poti sa compari Clujul si Constanta cu cine vrei. Daca presa umfla Clujul si nu vorbeste nimic de Constanta nu inseamna ca la Cluj e boom si la Constanta nu se intampla nimic. Trebie sa vezi cu cohii tai orasele ca sa te convingi. Eu am vazut deja Clujul si m-a dezamagit. Nici nu-mi pasa ce zice presa sau altii atat timp cat stiu ca mie imi este bine.

Da, asa e ! Din pacate inca nu se intampla nimic acolo. Au vorbit de un program european de revitalizare URBAMECO (vezi mai sus), sa vedem de se va intampla ceva ! Oricum e nevoie de bani multi ca sa reinvii mortul. In schimb, daca terenurile alea ar cadea pe mana unor investitori privati cu multi bani eu cred ca lucrurile s-ar schimba mult mai repede in bine. Asta imi place la Constanta :applause: This is paradise, I'm tellin' ya. This town like a great big pussy just waiting to get fucked. Constanta face legea in industria de fun in Europa. :banana: Ca si in cazul la alte vedete internationale, toti vin sa isi castige o paine in cluburile selecte constantene (care fac muci orice club din tara): 10-20-30 mii de euroi pentru 1-2 ore de cantat intr-un club. In alte orase europene e nevoie de ditamai concertul in aer liber, platit de multi spectatori sau de sponsori ca sa ii aduca acolo. Mamaia e cea mai cool statiune din Europa la nightlife si clubbing . Toti DJi marfa din Europa si peste ocean vin aici.

Distractiile astea, cu Zuchhero care cante in fata mesei tale de la club, costa ceva malai !!! Mamaia e pentru smecheri si bazati care nu muncesc pe nasturi ci pe lovele puternice. Daca nu intri in categorie si vrei gogosi infuriate in loc de somon fume cu sos remoulade la Picadilly sau inghetata la dozator in loc de nougat glace cu fructe confiate la Rex samd, atunci, vere, exista statiuni si in alte parti, de la Sovata la Caciulata (au si gogosi si mamaliga cu mujdei :rofl:), de la bulgari (astia sunt cu macaroanele :puke: ) la francezi si de la sarbi la englezi. Asta nu inteleg romanii care injura litoralul, ca nu scadem noi standardele ca sa se umple de tarani romani sau straini care vor sa stea 10 intr-o camera de hotel cat mai ieftin, sa manance gogosi si porumb fiert zilnic sau sa aibe standarde occidentale pe de-a moaca. Cred ca am lamurit acum cum sta treaba cu turismul pe litoral, in special la Mamaia, the coolest sea resort in Europe

PS: inainte de situl asta am mai activat un pic pe un alt site dar m-am plictisit imediat fiindca erau fel si fel de papagali care ma luau de arogant si enervant cand ziceam direct lucrurilor pe nume. Le-am explicat ca asa sunt luati si newyorkezii, parisieni sau londonezii in tarile lor dar n-au bagat la cap. Sper ca aici IQul e mai ridicat si se intelege de ce sunt cool, cu personalitate si nu voi schimba niciodata atitudinea, spunand lucrurilor pe nume.

Pentru cei care doresc sa participe la concurs inscrierile se fac incepand cu ora 11.00, iar premiile puse in joc sunt in valoare de 3000 EURO. Este obligatoriu ca participantii la concurs sa poarte casca.

(3) A treia Ţară a Piticilor

Bucurie mare pentru mii de copii din zona Casei de Cultură. Cu mic cu mare, copii, părinţi şi bunici s-au grăbit, aseară, să vadă cea de-a treia Ţară a Piticilor din Constanţa, inaugurată de primarul Radu Mazăre. Deschiderea porţilor celui de-al treilea loc de joacă tip Ţara Piticilor, situat la intersecţia străzilor Baba Novac şi IL Caragiale, a atras mii de copii, care au uitat de lecţii pentru o zi, luînd cu asalt spaţiul amenajat pentru ei de muncipalitate. Startul distracţiei l-a dat chiar primarul Mazăre, care i-a invitat pe cei mici la dans pe ritmurile melodiei „Gaşca mea”, a formaţiei Hi-Q. Preţ de cîteva minute, Mazăre, însoţit de numeroase mascote-iepuraş, s-a bucurat, alături de cei mici, dar şi de cei mai mari, de acordurile muzicii. Primarul Constanţei i-a întrebat pe copii ce le place mai mult: şcoala sau sau discoteca? Spre surprinderea sa, cei mai mulţi au răspuns că ambele sînt în prim plan. În timpul mini-dezbaterii ad-hoc pe tema şcoală versus dans, Mazăre le-a promis micuţilor că, în fiecare duminică, va organiza cîte o discotecă pentru copii în toate cele trei Ţări ale Piticilor. Primarul nu a plecat de la inaugurare pînă nu le-a promis celor mici că va amenaja şi alte locuri de joacă. Deschiderea celei de-a treia Ţară a Piticilor a fost apreciată şi de părinţi, care spun că amenajarea unor astfel de locuri de joacă este binevenită. „Înainte, aici era un teren părăsit şi neamenajat. Acum avem unde să ne ducem copiii să se joace”, a afirmat Traian Costea. Seara s-a încheiat cu un spectacol de teatru de păpuşi şi o discotecă pentru copii. Pentru Ţara Piticilor din zona Casei de Cultură, care se întinde pe o suprafaţă de 2.000 metri pătraţi, Primăria Constanţa a investit 2,5 miliarde de lei vechi. Spaţiul dispune de leagăne, tobogane şi balansoare la standarde europene, dar şi de un teren de sport multifuncţional.

Vedetele Aero GP vor fi prezente în faţa celor pasionaţi de avioane, sporturi extreme şi muzică bună sâmbătă şi duminică, 7-8 iunie, în zona hotelului REX din staţiunea Mamaia. Publicul va petrece în compania vedetelor de la Prima TV, Kiss TV, Kiss FM şi a numeroşi jurnalişti din presă scrisă.

Aero GP este un eveniment aviatic excepţional, iniţiat de Regional Air Services (Aerodrom Tuzla), în parteneriat cu Flying Aces, cu sprijinul Primăriei Municipiului Constanţa.
La ediţia de anul trecut, peste 500.000 de spectatori au vizionat spectacolul alături de vedete ca Bruce Dickinson, de la Iron Maiden, oameni de televiziune din România şi piloţi celebri. Datorită succesului repurtat în organizarea acestei competiţii, Constantă este, începând cu anul 2008, locaţie oficială a circuitului mondial!

Echivalentul aviatic al Formulei 1, Aero GP implică avioane puternice, zboruri la doar 10 m de nivelul solului şi circuite restrânse, pe care poţi urmări o cursă aeriană, dog fight (luptă) şi demonstraţii de acrobaţie.
La competiţie participă cei mai buni piloţi militari şi civili din lume. Aceştia îşi vor face intrarea oficială printr-o manevră periculoasă şi o demonstraţie de precizie, trecând cu aeronavele pe sub podul de la Agigea.
Anul acesta, competitorii sunt: Andy Bickmore – Marea Britanie, Mark Jeffries – Marea Britanie, Smokey Young – SUA, Peter Podlunsek – Slovenia, Zoltan Veres – Ungaria, Aldo Di Bernardo - Italia şi Gerald Cooper – Marea Britanie.
Aero GP Constanţa este una dintre cele mai spectaculoase evenimente din calendarul sportiv, continuând succesele din Malta, Egipt, Slovenia, etc., despre care poţi afla mai multe pe www.aero-gp.com.
Invitaţia Regional Air Services îţi propune mai mult decât un spectacol aerian - o competiţie reală, cu risc şi tensiune, în zona hotel REX, între orele 13:00 – 18:00. Învinge-ţi limitele! Fă-ţi o programare chiar pe plajă de la REX pentru un zbor de agrement la un preţ redus pentru perioada 9 iunie – 10 august, sau participă la tombolă pentru a câştiga un salt cu paraşuta sau marele premiu, un zbor alături de unul dintre acrobaţii aerodromului Tuzla.

Iniţiatoarea evenimentului, Regional Air Services este o companie full service în aviaţia particulară (şcoală de pilotaj, aero-taxi, paraşutism, campanii publicitare neconvenţionale, monitorizare aeriană, zboruri pentru agricultură), deţinătoare a primului aerodrom privat din România.
Aero GP deschide sezonul estival în forţă. Vino pe 7-8 iunie la Constanţa pentru un bronz de început de vară şi un spectacol de cea mai bună calitate!

Jesus, it's a hell I tell you. It took me 2.5 hours to go from Sunny Beach to the Romanian border (about 200 km) and 1.5 hours to drive just the 11 km at the entrance in Constanta. :nuts:

An hour and a half for 11 km? That's a big "WTF?!?" even in our country.:runaway:

Why? It takes me 1.5 h to get from my neighbourhood (Dr. Taberei) to Charles de Gaulle area where I work. And that's 7 km. :bash:

just think what will going to happen after 2-3 years during the estival season.
without the ring-belt and the motorway between Cernavoda and Constanta we ll be stucked in our own city. also the very bad conection with the comercial area-Metro, Real, Praktiker and soon the new mall just on the other side of the street.

BTW, an advice for those driving from Bucharest to the seaside or back: try the county roads network (Mangalia - Negru Voda - Cerchezu - Adamclisi - Ion Corvin - Cernavoda or Medgidia - Valea Dacilor- Ciocarlia - Topraisar - Techirghiol). These roads are in a pretty good condition and the landscape in Dobrogea is magnificient! A good map or a GPS would certainly help.

The brass plaque has a small mistake ...obviously nobody checked it before !

It says CAPITOL instead of CAPITAL ...
Now , I wonder what will it take to Mr Mazare or whomever is in charge to change that for obvious reasons...more and more cruise ships are docking in Constanta - so more tourists - and they are taking pictures with "Picturesque Romania" and it will only show that we are still sloppy and NOT able in doing things right ?

Why? It takes me 1.5 h to get from my neighbourhood (Dr. Taberei) to Charles de Gaulle area where I work. And that's 7 km. :bash:

Drumul Taberei is a classic example of a large dormitory neighborhood of Bucharest that lacks metro connection. Line M5 which will connect it (West) to Colentina (East) is in the planning for... well, forever now.:bash:

Charles de Gaulle is served by M2 though.

I am using a tram line, which gets me through the same distance in 30 minutes. I only use my car on weekends and whenever I get out of town. :nuts:

The Soyuz TMA-13 spacecraft approaches the International Space Station, carrying NASA astronaut Michael Fincke, Expedition 18 commander; Russian Federal Space Agency cosmonaut Yury Lonchakov, Soyuz commander and flight engineer; and American spaceflight participant Richard Garriott. Fincke and Lonchakov will spend six months on the station, while Garriott will return to Earth on Oct. 23 with two of the Expedition 17 crewmembers currently on the complex. Eastern Romania just north of the Black Sea port of Constanta with the lower Danube River floodplain along the left side and forested parts of the Babadagului Plateau at the top form the backdrop for the scene.

The biggest harbour of Romania and a historical city, one of most important tourist destinations and certainly the place to begin a splendid summer vacation, at the seaside, on the beach, with every facility - fun, lodgings, food - at hand.

Constanta is best known for it's importance as a tourist resort and open city for all, but it is also an important cultural and historical centre in the history of the country, a city which has been for centuries a melting-pot for several ethnic groups, a place where you can take a stroll among the streets, can visit the old part of the city, with it's houses, markets, shops and restaurants, can admire the tourist part, very modern and very crowded or can visit, one by one, the various monument and attractions. All in all, Constanta is a very good choice for a visit and a holiday.

In it's recorded beginnings, the future city was actually a Greek colony, Tomis, later administered and further enlarged by the Romans, who changed the name after the emperor Constantin, a change that kept until this day. Over the centuries the place also received a large Turkish minority, and in the 19th century, at the request of King Carol I of Romania, was once again replaned and redeveloped, and it begam a modernisation process, at the same time being more and more popular among tourists. In no small part due to the quality of beaches and water, as well as the later founding of several summer resorts nearby, such as Neptun, Mamaia, Eforie and the likes. Nowadays Constanta is also a major economic and cultural center, with several monuments, ruins, a historical Casino, several museums and shops, restaurants, cafes and on and on, while the are is filled with old villages, vineyards, monuments, churches and others.

Places to see and love in Constanta :

Ovid's Square : it was the project of Ettore Ferrari, a sculptor who completed it in 1887, and it's center is the statue of the Roman poet Ovidius, exiled here around 8 AD.

The Genoese Lighthouse : another landmark of Constanta and a constant reminder of just how important the sea and travelling were to the city. According to local sources, this was built by 1860 in Constanta as a thank you and honour to those Genoese merchants who made the town a successful trading spot several centuries earlier.

The Great Mahmudiye Mosque : this is one of the key places here in Constanta and all tourists come to see the Mosque. It was actually built in 1910 on the orders of King Carol I, to serve as the house of the Mufti, the leader of the large Muslim community in the region, and it is a splendid example of mix between Romanian and Byzantine architectural elements, which makes it unique looking. Inside you can admire several decorative elements, such as a large carpet, so large that it actually weighs over 500 kilos. You can also go up the minaret, 50 m high, and see the harbour and the old quarters.

The Casino : another real special place in Constanta, the Casino is a place of drama, fame and fortune, and was built in the interwar years, in Art Nouveau style, quickly becoming a favourite place for gamblers and socialites. It is nice to visit it, at least for the architecture and charm of the place.

The Fantasio Theatre : this was built in 1927 by a Greek investor, Demostene Tranulis, and beared the founder's name until 1947, when it was renamed as Fantasio. One of the most popular theatres in Constanta, old and very loved, also interesting due to the neoclassical elements of the building.

The St Peter and Paul Cathedral : a huge and important holy place of the city, built in 1883 - 1885 in Greco-Roman style, this church is not only beautiful and a landmark in the history of Constanta, it is only a splendid example of sacred art and architecture. Seeing as it is today, it is hard to believe that at one time, in WW2, the cathedral was almost completely destroyed, being rebuilt only after the war.

Roman Mosaics : one of the most important legacies of the Roman times, when Constanta became a powerfull city, it is near the harbour. The ruins of the ancient structure are simply fascinating for any visitor, not to mention the several hundred squared meters of wonderful mosaics. The place was actually built by the end of the 4th century and would serve as the main commercial place for Constanta over the next three hundred years of even more. Here you could shop or you could find warehouses or workshops, and even public baths.

The National Museum of Archaeology and History : as any specialist would say, this is one of the best museums of it's kind in the country, being built in 1879 and redone in 1911 by the famous Vasile Parvan. It's collections are rich, varied and highly valuable to simple visitors and researchers alike, as they feature artefacts, tools, weapons and art dating from prehistoric times to the Greek and Roman eras. There is also a rich coin collection, statues, ceramics, jewelery.

Marina Museum : another important place in Constanta is this museum hosted inside the former headquarters of the old Naval School, presenting in full detail the fascinating history of Romanian sea travelling, from the ancient times to the present. Among the collections featured in the permanent exhibition are the coin and ceramic collections, weapons, uniforms, various tools, documents, machines, photograps, sailing tools, old books and newpapers, and so on.

The Art Museum : this is considered visitors one of the best attractions in Constanta, for it hosts very often impressive exhibitions, aside from it's permanent ones. Focused on Romanian masters and contemporary art, the museum also has several impressive selections of European masters.
