Bulgaria is somewhat of a mystery and not well traveled by most of us in the Western Hemisphere. We need to be educated!:)

the peak on the right is the highest one in bulgaria
here are a few mroe.
DrT May 18th, 2007, 11:21 PM Spectacular scenery. Is this in a national park or protected area in Bulgaria? Part of the Alps? There is no sign of farms or human activity.

this is not prat of the alps, this is in the Rila mountain 60 km to the south of sofia, the moutnain is 100 km long and 80 km wide and has many high peaks, the highest of them is 2925 m. It has the Rila national park and no, not many people live there as there is a complex valley system which isolates the very long valleys in the mountain of the civilisation.
radi6404 May 19th, 2007, 02:04 PM And another few

^ this looks similar to jesenice or to some austrian alps but the picture is of not very high quality and overshapen so it does not show how ti looks properly
This is another valley with not that high peaks, still nice
ChrisZwolle May 19th, 2007, 04:15 PM Looks great in Bulgaria. Reminds me of the Tatra and Pyrenees.

thanks, but it does not look like that in many places in bulgaria, mostly in the rila mountain, very few other mountains have such steep slopes like the rila mountain, and you know what, the struma motorway will pass very closely to this mountain, in dupnica.
radi6404 May 19th, 2007, 05:01 PM Hey verso, take a look here, similar to slovenia?

Adams3 May 21st, 2007, 04:31 PM Great scenery! It looks splendid! Interestingly enough, Bulgaria is almost the size of England in area, yet have only 7m people and dropping sharply, while England has over 50m and growing!
Aliya May 23rd, 2007, 10:54 PM beautiful photos! nice landscapes :)

You can see that there are peaks which are so steep and have large rockwalls up to 600 m that they hardly get covered with snow, just look carefully, the peaks on the last pictures is not one of these peaks but still pretty steep. these are the biggest rockwalls and deepest valleys in Bulgaria, in the Rila mountain.

Here`s a panoramic pic of the Pirin mountain as seen from the Rila mountain, this is the other high mountain in bulgaira which is not that spectacular though.
radi6404 May 30th, 2007, 08:20 PM No comments to the best pics in this thread by far, just look the pics, the peaks have really big rockwalls, just look how steep and deep the rockwalls go from the rockwalls down. These rockwalls are from 500 - 700 m and the biggest in bulgaria. the Rila mountain is the most spectacular and only alpine mountain in whole Bulgaria, other alpine mountains in Balkan Penasuela are Olymp and Prokletie, maybe a few more but for example Pirin in the last pic is not an alpine mountain.

Hereīs another pic, this peak is not so spectacular though.
radi6404 June 16th, 2007, 02:16 PM why did noone give his comment? Unbelievable.
3tmk June 18th, 2007, 11:08 PM I think the problem is that you didn't put it in the best section
Most people who come here are specifically drawn to photography, while normal people who just enjoy scenery, do not
the Travel section, if I had to choose, would have been the best place IMO
The problem with the travel section is that many trolls roam around, but I think it gets more coverage than this place
radi6404 June 19th, 2007, 02:55 PM and what do you think about the pics?
