I think its a good idea but we will still have lots of work to do to find all that information. I am planning a project summary thread - as a showcase- but same problem that we dont know enough information on these. Thats why i held back.
But i think renaming projects that way would be good. So people dont ask these questions again and again.

We have lots of karachiites here including FahadKhan, Umais, Karachiiite, IR, Swerve, etc so please someone help make the karachi project index, while i shall try the lahore one during the weekend.

I think the expressway is better suited as karachi updates since its just a road.

For the other ones, can you provide a link if the threads exist? If they dont exist then it means there is noone with the updates on them and hence no use making a new thread untill someone gets an update.

Also there is no update on the grand leisure and their website is also under construction. Do you have any updates sources or U/C pics?

GUYS we should update the threads in the International forums more often. There are loads of pics and loads of data on Pakistan in Mehfil Pakistan. But outside of MP, there is NOTHING on Pakistan. We can't just promote Pakistan by just posting in MP. If we want to promote Pakistan, we need to get out of MP and post information and pics of Pakistan. Yeah, I am quite active outside of MP as well. I do update regularly threads like on pics of Islamabad in the cityscape section, Pakistan aviation, pakistan highways and motorways, the centaurus, KPT tower, and our northern areas. Unfortunately, apart from myself only CNtower and sometimes mussiddiqui are the only "active" guys. The rest do post once in a while though (maybe when they see the threads on the front page).

To answer your question, yes...I am all for regularly updating these threads and opening some new ones too. Infact, thats the reason I made this index thread so people are aware of the threads (and also so that people do not repeat the threads).

Are you sure that proportions are correct? UBL Twoer is just 26 storeys. Around 120 m. And SZC is much much taller. I think it's > 200m.

Okay. How about adding the heights of the buildings in meters too. In the "Projects & Updates" section the thread title for "Grand Hyatt" says that it will be 217 m tall. But it doesn't say that here. For the "Centaurus" I provided the link which says that it will be 200m plus. So add those figures here.

Meters would work best, as we already know that MCB is 116 m tall and this way we can track the progress of other buildings eclipsing its height. 450 ft equals 137 m and 250 ft equals 76 meters. This is all I have to go by:

Hey have any of you guys counted the number of storeys in the image, Im getting 77 right to the tip, If that is correct this building is going to be atleast 900ft tall (~275m) if you consider the height per floor to be 11ft (first 6 floors have high ceilings) and can be a 1000ft tall (300m) if height per floor is 12ft.

Funny, someone said I count 77floors and everybody started believing in that. Then another guy came and said its probably 60 and everybody believed in that.

And now that I posted the fact that newspapers have been quoting it as 55floors, everyone seems disappointed.

Infact the 60 floor has also been quoted by some sources. So at this point the two most probable no. of floors could be 55 or 60.

OK guys, many of these threads on Pakistani Skyscrapers in the Int'l forums weren't updated, so I took the liberty of updating them. It took me quite some time and now I'm NACKERED!!! A long day didn't help either!

Here's what I did:

- Added U/C photos in the Sofitel Hotel Tower thread from August 27th, 2007 to the latest pics of August 16th, 2008.

- Copied and pasted the relevant info and a video by FK in the Financial Towers thread.

- Added videos and pictures in the Dolmen City thread.

- Added U/C photos and info in the Center Point thread.

- Added latest photos in the Mabarak Center thread.

Went through the rest of the threads, thoroughly checked them and their counterparts in the MP section. They were updated, so I didn't need to do anything.

The Expo Center project is currenty only in Phase 1, the 60 storey building will come later on, if it ever does, so I left that thread alone.

Comparing the amount of threads that we have on buildings in MP and the amount of threads that we have in the International forums, its really depressing!! Part of the reason is that, there isn't enough information on the heights of a few projects in meters. So awesome projects like Platinum Square (World Trade Center) & Islamabad Gold Crest DHA miss out. :( On the other hand, others like the ISE Towers, Telecom Tower & State Life Tower, aren't tall enough to demand threads of their own in the International forums.

So the solution, as I see it, is to do what everyone else on SSC has done. Create threads in the City/Metro Compilations (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=905) section. There we can easily have 3 such threads:

LAHORE | Projects & Construction

ISLAMABAD| Projects & Construction

I'm willing to create these threads as we have enough information, pictures & renders on so many projects from these cities. Videos too, in some cases. With more pictures to come as these projects progress further. And we can even include projects which already have threads of their own in the International forums, as thats what many people have done too, showing all the projects from a city, under one banner. But I would need a green signal from you guys, to get on with it, especially from the Mods. I don't want to continue with this one useless thread (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=428315) that we already have there, as its messy and unorganized. I would create much more organized threads. Plus its much better to have threads on these cities separately, otherwise, all it leads to is confusion between the different projects going on in the different cities.

2. yeah we can post all the pics/ news items but DO NOT post them ALL AT ONCE. We would like to keep the threads alive and post things regularly rather than post everything at once and then the occasional updates.

Btw, I have a question for the Mods. See the section titled World Forums (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1), it doesn't allow you to search for threads and neither do posts by you or threads created by you there show up, when you search "Find all Posts" or "Threads started" by User. So I was wondering, do posts in that section count in your total post count? As they sure don't show up on search. Ok, so seen as the first updates have been posted today. I've been wondering about the amount of space that we should leave between updates. I was thinking that the time difference should be a week. What do you think? Is a week too long, too short?

I'll be updating all 3 threads tomorrow, as promised above, to do so every week. Thats makes it every Friday. Starting from the oldest U/C pics to the latest ones. Along with Videos, Renders, location maps etc etc

I had to post all of this again! As a "500 - Error" ruined everything!!! :gaah:

Weekly is much more systematic imo. It will make the threads stay up there till late aswell and it would be easier for me. 3/4 days, I don't think I'll be able to handle that.

Good work. I don't think that its a place for interchanges or the Int'l aiport. Its just for buildings. Good thing that you didn't post the rendering of the State Life Tower, avoid it. Other than that, the only thing that I can point out is, that use a better render for the ISE Tower. Use this one:

And KB please make the following changes in your post in the Islamabad thread.

And not all towers will be 28 stories, if my memory serves me right, as I remember reading that those 20 towers will range from 18 to 36 stories. Put down its completion date as 2010 aswell, as its supposed to be completed by 2009/2010.

- And don't just mention Platinum Square (World Trade Center) as just "Platinum tower". Thats belittling the poor project. :( Mention its full proper name and mention that 6 Towers are a part of this awesome project.

Can you guys make small icons of these renders and post them along with the links to the project threads on the first page of this thread? I've seen the Chinese forumers do that, they had hundreds of small icons of the renders of every building, and if you clicked it, you were taken to that projects thread. It looked very visually appealing. Maybe Qaiser can make the pictures into icons. Actually, anyone can do that since all it requires is resizing and when you post it here, you make that picture a link to the relevant thread.

Also, please fix the thread links in the first post. I clicked the Gwadar updates thread and it gave me an error.

I've typed in Karachi and searched the "Projects and Updates" section for Thread titles containing the word "Karachi". They don't seem to be any more buildings for whom we have renders & construction pics, apart from the ones that we already have and the link to the one that I've provided above. Though I could have missed a few. You guys are free to re-check.

Look at the organization and how good those icons look. They put icons for rejected designs, for provisional designs and for final/approved designs in the icons. We could just put the provisional/approved designs for our projects, since we don't get a whole lot of renders coming out for our projects. Also, pay attention to how he formatted the post, with large headings, and some info about the project. All done in a very systematic way, we should copy that model for our threads in the international forums.

It is better to put smaller icons instead of huge complete renders because it really slows down people's computers in large threads.

NO, that would only work if we have shit load of projects and we don't have shit load of projects. So, its better just to show them in large, so that people can appreciate their beauty i.e. Mabarak Center, KPT Tower, Centaurus etc etc

Oh, don't worry about post # 171. You don't have to do that. Someone like FK or Qaiser can do it. Or even Ooga as he's good with computers. But all he's contributed is this, saying that adding the Use, Floor, Height & Status along with the name of the project is "too much". Shtoopid!!! :no:

Great Work!! Well Done!! :applause: I never realised that all of the Lahore projects were so close to each other. This will finally give Lahore a good skyline!!

But because some of the thread titles in this thread and in this section of MP are not up to date. You'll have to redo some of the labellings:

- Mention that Mabarak Center will include 6 buildings (http://www.lera.com/projects/hot/) and their heights will be 60 fl x 1 | 45 fl x 3 | 24 fl x 1 | 16 fl x 1. Thats if there is enough space for it. Otherwise just mention the single 60 floors and the three 45 floors. And call it Mabarak Center, not SZC.

- For whichever building that you have written the word "Height", omit that as the word "Height" was written there in place of the actual height in meters & feet, as we did't and still don't know their heights in meters & feet.

- I'm not too sure about Ahad Tower, as it seems to have topped out at just 10 floors. But I guess no harm in including it.

- Corporate Tower's (http://www.corporatetower.pk/) website mentions that it wil be 15 stories tall, so change it from 18. Also use the term "Office" instead of "Corporate Sector".

- I'm in two minds about including the Expo Center. As the project is currently in Phase 1, so everything apart from the 60 Storey tower is U/C, which will be a part of Phase 2. Maybe change "U/C" to "APP".

- Pace Circle seems a bit squished. Leave spaces like with every other project between the bars and the text. Because you would have removed the word "Height" from it, that will give you enough space. And change its Height from 10 to 12 floors, as thats what Jsultan found out:

Last but not the least, post it in the Lahore thread (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=734972) and mention that its done by you so you get the full credit. And a BIG THANK YOU FROM ME!!!!! :)

Great! I noticed two parallel lines of projects going on your map. Which roads are they on??? I'm guessing MM Alam road & Main Boulevard Gulberg as those are the locations that I've mostly heard for the projects. I'm not too familiar with Lahore's Geography, is MM Alam road in Gulberg too, just like Main Boulevard? If so, then all the Lahore projects and the Lahori Skyline will be in Gulberg???

you are right MM Alam road is also in gulberg. most of the projects are on Main Boulevard and MM Alam Road.

You can post both these maps in the Lahore thread that I pointed out before and you can also answer this guy's (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=27811422&postcount=173) statement about Lahore needing more highrises and hotels.

Btw, I was going through the lists of projects that we have posted in the Islamabad, Lahore & Karachi threads and was counting the amount of Towers going up and this is what I found out:

ISLAMABAD: Centaurus = 4 (Towers) + Grand Hyatt = 3 + Gold Crest DHA = 17 + ISE Tower/Towers = 1 or 2 + Telecom Tower = 1 + Platinum Square WTC = 6

Grand Total = 32 or 33, depending on whether ISE is counted as 1 or 2 Towers, as there are conflicting reports on whether it is 1 or 2 Towers.

This rises to 33/34 Towers when the State Life Tower is included. I didn't count Inter-Continental Hotel as it will only be 9 stories tall.

LAHORE: Mabarak Center = 6 + Alamgir Tower = 1 + STP Tower = 1 + Pace Towers = 1 + Tricon = 1 + Mall 99 = 1 + Ali Tower = 1 + Boulevard Heights = 1 + Vogue Tower = 1 + IT Tower = 1 + Corporate Tower = 1 + Xinhua Mall = 1

Grand Total = 17. Excluding Pace Circle which is only 12 fl, Ahad Tower which seems to have topped out at just 10 fl and Kalma Tower which we haven't included due to a crappy render. Read this note by me:

Note: I am copying and pasting the titles from the quoted posts so don't blame me if the titles of the threads are wrong or outdated.

Remember how I'm always after the Mods telling them to change the titles???? Precisely for this reason why. And like I said in post # 209. I have just copied & pasted the titles in order to save time for myself. Making clickable icons is a time consuming process in itself. Let alone fixing the titles too!!

The font isn't too small but it could be made bigger. As the current font is hard to read. And seen as just glancing at it, I've spotted a couple of mistakes, in the titles of the projects, due to many thread titles in this thread and in this section of MP being wrong. Such as calling Creek Vista, Creek City, when Creek City is an umbrella term for all the Creek projects.

You've also included, Broadway Commercial Avenue | INFRASTRUCTURE | U/C, which is an extremely slow/dead project. And so far they have only erected a sign (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=15768559&postcount=37) like you have said there. So replace it with Broadway Tower. Or don't replace it, just add Broadway Tower to the list too. Whose pics & render have been provided by RANA & PakiDoperz. So I guess if you'll be making these changes, then might aswell increase the font to the largest possible size. Without running out of space to write. Furthermore, don't be afraid to use as much empty space as possible.

- Centaurus is fine. Maybe add the floors of the remaining smaller buildings which go like: 25 fl | 21 fl x 2 into both this link and the thread title of it.

- The link to Grand Hyatt mentions the heights of the other 2 smaller towers as "2 * 20fl|" but the thread title doesn't.

- Like I said here (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=27591162&postcount=282). Gold Crest DHA will be 17 towers, not 20. And not all of them would be 20 stories tall. They will range from 18 to 36 stories. So please make the appropriate changes to its thread title and to its link in this thread.

- State Life Tower will be 20 stories tall, not 22, like it has been mentioned in its link. Those two floors will be underground. And in its link it says "Office" when its thread title says "MIX" when it is obviously an Office project, so please sort that out.

- For the link to Intercontinental Hotel, in the space for "Floor" add "9 Fl". Like it says in its thread title.

- For the link to Platinum Square add "32 fl". As we know that the tallest tower will be 32 stories. Its thread title says "Commercial" where as the link says "Mixed Use". Its obviously a Mixed Use project as it includes 5 Commercial Tower plus a Hotel Tower. So fix that.
