It's a huge 10000 acre project that is billed as the city that offers India's finest living but in reality is mainly used as a weekend getaway by people living in Mumbai, for corporate events, and by retirees.

its an extremely beautiful place, but of course it will be a weekend/holiday home. no one is going to live there permanently, there is nothing there, no companies, no offices, restaurants, cinemas, etc. people will live and work in bombay (or wherever actually) and then come here for rest/relaxation. thats how they need to market it

and the interiors of the houses are absolutely terrible. all bollywood kitsch. they need to hire some good architects

That's nice that you have started a thread otherwise I would have open it but I lack pictures of Amby Valley. Amby Valley is such an awesome place will go when I'll go to India this december.

Well I think you're mistaken there are some IT companies there, plus there is 7 star restaurant as My friend's told me that and btw it's not completed yet the completion date is 2014 for the whole 10,000 acres.

Those are lovely pics.....im surprised they have completed only 400 acres till data and it already looks gorgeous. I've heard the Golf course there is the biggest in Asia...Those houses look gr8 from outside...but the interiors do look kinda gawdy....the facilities there are awesome. I cant even imagine how big and good 10,000 acres would be by the time they complete it in 2014.

I think people can use it as a permanent home in 3-4 years when everything is completed. Anyways travelling from Juhu to colaba takes almost 1.5-2 hours. Amby valley is around 90 kms from mumbai. ( thats almost 1 hour considering its near the expressway and rich people living there surely drive fast cars and can reach mumbai border in 1 hour and maybe another half-1 hour to reach wherever in mumbai they are. Also they have a private airport, so using helicopters is very much possible, but i guess for that downtown mumbai should hv helipads. Are there any helipads in BK Complex ?

one or even ten restaurants dont make a living city. the people they are trying to attract are very rich, very ambitious people. they are not looking at retirement homes. they would want restaurants, theatres, shops, etc that you can only get in a proper city

as for distance, yes its technically 90 kms away from bombay, but even if you take the expressway the time it will take you to reach nariman point or bkc will be at least 3 hours. thats not a reasonable commute. choppers are not an option for daily travel. plus for what? why would a hyper-rich person want to live in a pretty but boring place? which schools will the children go to? where will his wife socialise?

like i said make it into a holiday home concept and also invite some great resorts to set up shop. it will do very well

besides with mulayam out of power the future of the whole sahara group looks shaky

i say sell out to a proper hospitality chain and exit

^ Smaller (1/4 acre plots). The houses seemed disproportiantely large (~4000 sq feet) in relation to the plot size. (for comparison the 1/2 and 1 acre plots in the vicinity have houses that are ~5000 sq feet.)

Can anybody tell me the tariff's of hotels there and rates and charges of the activities there. If i want to visit this place, how much will be the estimated cost for around 2days?.

And is this place better than bigger and more city like Lavasa near Pune. I know its still in completion stage but heard thats good too.

btw i did a research on this a while ago and i found that they were building dome shaped houses which were supposed to be energy efficient.

FYI 'retirement homes' services like safety, medical, peace, quiet, clean, hygiene for the hard working are now only available in nearest Dubai and that too, it's not Desh.

I foresee, a house owner, having rid of kids'' who are ... hehe ... 'well-settled' in US/Canada, Oz etc. , being able to sell his house in Bombay, Pune, Bangalore, Delhi, specially the old privileged Nehru-Gandhi 'bourgeois' in their 'elite' colonies in said cities; what's a couple of crores for the well heeled; and instead of battling the lonesome isolation of say California or Oz clinging to their 'kids', whynot retire in Aamby, Lavasa type developments. Hopefully they'll get more affordable.

There is a huge market for retirement options for India's 10's of millions of 'old school, secular, Socialist' types Said millions are a breed apart. They are cynical, well-off, leery of the system, and not very sociable. Not suitable for living in 'normal', either western societies or criminalised Indian colonies. They can be perhaps 'corralled' into their own Aamby's, Lavasaa's and former Bangalore where they can freely rub each other the wrong way w/o the risk of losing control to local neighbourhood gangsters/politicians or being a burden on theier kids abroad where they adapt very badly.

Believe me I speak from experience. Fascist Indian parents of the Nehru-Gandhi era are, how to say politely, social pariah's (misfits) in today's Globalised world. We can't very well line-'em-up and ... bang-bang-bang shoot them in the back now ... can we? We the 'kids', we are much different , not so brutal and cruel. Times have changed, more peace in our times, more prosperity, so ... we can encourage Aamby's and Lavasa's.

On Google maps I counted dozens of barren dam site areas where such development's can come up in affordable areas. Mumbai-Pune, Delhi-Amritsar, Munnar-Malabar area where dozens of dams and lakes exist from British and Nehruvian days re: irrigation schemes. Govt. should encourage, so sorry to say India's metro cities are hardly the place I'd like to see my old parents in even though that's sadly how it is.

With time and eco. consciousness these lakeside cities can develop into tourist areas like Nainital, Lonavala, Kodaikanal etc. In the posted pictures, the area looks barren and isolated, hardly the place for farming. It's good for the local economy too to build said places, hopefully green construction techniques are used.

Some of what I say here is only now coming out in movies by the likes of Amir Khan etc. As usual ... the South is ahead of the North on issues around social justice etc.

It doesn't match the natural surroundings. It will look as if it has popped out of nowhere. I would have preferred structures which blended in. The rich don't always have taste.

^^^ or maybe they are starting a phase 2 or something of similar sorts with these kinds of buildings. Might look cool with the meeting of two ages of sorts...

Though it looks pretty modern and awesome, the actual livable area seems to be very small. I would love to see this building built in India.

BTW the surroundings may look greener in renders but we all know that designers take lot of liberty with surroundings.
