I was interested in Burj Dubai's construction, and so I found a couple good-looking diagrams at Skyscrapercity.

After looking and lurking around, I decided to join, so here I am. :)

Last spring I read something about the highrise built by BOSMAL in Sarajevo. And I Bosmal's homepage was not too up to date, and so a Googled for more photos. Two seconds later I was in Wonderland... I found Skyscrapercity forums! :nocrook: THANK YOU BOSMAL! :bow: :okay:

I was always curious how the separated individuals found the Skycrapercity forums? What's Your story?

It was a rainy Tuesday afternoon. Portal came home from a hard day of work. He didn't know what to do. So, as usual, he turned on his computer. And surfed on the Internet. And then it happened... By some magic, he came across www.skyscrapercity.com.

Well, maybe it was not raining, it was not on a Tuesday afternoon, and I was not in work. But for sure I am here now... :nuts:

Well, I was looking for some visualisations of Eurovea. For some reason I couldn´t open their homepage so I googled the name which brought me here!
This was page of my taste but it wasn´t the reason to join. I was much more surprised by way how people communicate in this forums - very friendly, not arguing, not accusing each other of pointless things and last but not least very inteligent forumers and therefore discussions! :) That was for me the main reason to join!

I was reading an article about new skyscrapers in bratislava on sme.sk (internet version of a daily newspaper). In the discussion under it I found a link directly to this central european forum.

All I can remember is that I found this forum by accident for sure. I was searching for a Hungarian project as usual at google but I can't remember which one. I immediately hooked on this forum after seeing the topics of the thread as I'm very interested in architecture and new projects in general.:cheers:

Okay, so i was looking for Dubai projects, and got addicted quite quickly, but i joined nearly a year later after i found this forum.

I had the same reason as Ataman had, I suppose. Maybe Palm Jumeirah or Burj al-Arab or sth like this was 1st topic I visited here, really not sure about it:-) Then I looked to GTC and for one yr, I've nearly forgotten that SSC exists.. praise Google 4 finding it again!

I did some google search to find something about Prague airport, there was nothing important and interesting on first few pages but then, suddenly, I spot the link to the thread about Warsaw airport at Eastern European SSC forum (accidentally someone wrote there something about Prague). After few seconds browsing the forum I realized this is what I was looking for for a long time... ;)

Nothing interesting, I was surfing on the net, searching for photos of CE cities and I bumped into SSC forums! I read lots of post before joining. I think the same convinced me to join as .oreo.'s statement. Inteligent topics and forumers. :cheers:

About me, I think I first found skyscraperpage.com and emporis.com even sooner. But this is the forum that is the best skyscrapers forum I know and I know it almost 1 year.

I used to be a photographer for Emporis.com but it is such a joke.. Best exploitation of human work ever.

My story is also very simple. I was looking for some information about Eurovea and in Google results was this forum with the best information and the best visualisations. After a few days when I'd been browsing skycrapercity I registered.

I red idnes.cz and Kokpit left there link to this forum (that was march 06 ;) )

I'm an industrial management student from Budapest, Hungary. I found this forum while searching for some information about highway developements in the region. As a lurker I really liked the threads and posts, and I was happy to see so many people gathering here from different countries and discussing (more or less peacefully:D ) things.

While we're on the subject of skyscrapercity and finding it, can somebody translate the wikipedia article "Skyscrapercity" into your respective languages? It's a short article, shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes.

I was searching for plans of Antwerp's premetro network, so Google directed me to SSC. And of course, once I was here, I immediately searched for Budapest-related threads as well... :)

Huh...where should I start..I was always interested in stories what foreigners(from other continent,esp. america) thought about Europe and Hungary. I used to look for topics,such as "differences between USA and EU", and after a few pages on google, I bumped into an ancient thread about that here,on this forum.
Here's a stroy that really got my attention: One of my fellow students told me about his secondary school english teacher,who was american(I mean USA). So this teacher told this guy that when he got this job offered,he thought that he will be taken to the A-HU border by car,and then a cart will come for him.,and bring him to Budapest. He was very suprised when he asked the driver(they were driving for some time)when will they reach the border..and the driver said they are almost at Budapest.:)

No...I meant what I wrote down..he said "szekér",which is cart. We were at Ferenc körút M3 subway station...my chin fell below the subway...(a metrónál is mélyebbre esett az állam).

Frankly, my story of getting in love with Skyscrapercity is not so breathtaking either. :)

This august I was surfing the net trying to waste my time after a tiring project I had been doing. I had been of course a daily reader of architectural and infrastructural articles but they had got more and more boring for me.

As far as I could remember I was looking for articles written about the skyscraper and anti-skyscraper lobby in Budapest. Perhaps I was interested of some updated information on Raiffeisen tower planned to be built near the police hq complex. A simple Google search for "Budapest + skyscraper" keywords did the trick and I quickly got here. It didn't take long time for me to realize how invaluable these threads are and how friendly the members are. I also saw that the guys up here are not just simple copy+paste members but they even take their time to comment the up-to-date pictures or plans and they're determined to bring us amazing photo-stories. :bow:
