Nice tower, but why panasonic? what if one day they lose the agency? :) Is the building somehow sponsored by Panasoic for marketing purposes? otherwise makes absolutely no sense to just name it after a brand.

good progress, this building will help change the looks of the street.

we live in a poor boring city, with very little beauty no wonder everyone here is stressed and bored and angry most of the time.

thanks for the update, CrazY. good work.

differences75: i agree with you, but i have to point things out. first off, i've never lived in Kuwait up until September 2007. i've been moving from country to country my whole life, visiting Kuwait on vacations and whatnot. back then, i loved it; i found it amazing to be around my family and friends, to relax and just enjoy the atmosphere. but now that i moved here, i was honestly shot down. people stare and talk about you obnoxiously, road etiquette is nonexistent, and yes, almost everyone is stressed, bored and angry. this has to do with the people and the way they look onto things. i lived in Toronto for a year: five million people in one of the most important cities in the world, and i rarely came across someone obnoxious. Toronto is a lot more frenetic than Kuwait: it's bigger, more crowded, and a lot more important than here because it houses more international corporations and a significantly more diverse population than here. even during rush hour in the financial area, strangers would talk to each other, common sense is acknowledged, and people find a way to make their lives as easy and stress-free as they can. i'm in no way saying that Toronto is a dream city or that it's perfect, but it's a city that works; socially, economically, and demographically.

something else is, people there actually WORKED. no offense to anyone here, but whenever i approach a Kuwaiti national (in offices and workplaces) and ask for help about something, they shrug off the responsibility and point you out to someone else to help you, who then does the same thing, and around and around you go. and the worse part is, they're obnoxious about it; you thank them, and they huff you off. Kuwait was once known as the land of friendship, and i know that there are a lot of good people here. i've seen that between friends, Kuwaitis are friendly, close-knit and a lot of fun, but to outsiders, they can be agressive or downright rude. we're not giving ourselves a good reputation based on our mannerisms, but we can change to appeal to ourselves and to others. true, there are factors out there that are almost out of our reach, like government corruption and overall laziness, but the thing is: WE can change the way we act between ourselves and complete strangers, WE can make ourselves more approachable and reliable to those in need, and WE can make our city a more exciting place to be. bottom line, WE can make the difference.

it's no easy task that can be done overnight, but remember, even we took small steps before we learned how to walk.

differences75

kuwaiti_patriot:

so happy with your response, elaborate and precise. I agree we are lazy and rude to strangers because of our ego. Toronto is a well designed city, what i mean by that is not that its the ideal city, its far from it, but its a true city with density and variety, its a cosmopolitan city with many cultures and people and they mix together well .. just like dubai, here in kuwait everywhere you go you see people segregated somehow, can you go to salhiya plaza and see non kuwaitis?

that is part of the problem. if you get a dense city with lots of opportunities for professionalism you get the society to change automatically and you get to see a glimpse of that in some parts of the city where there is the rare density with banks and companies, even most are local.

i can go on and on on the subject matter but i will end it with this, if we build and renovate our city, life becomes sweeter.

Yeah seriously. They wanna destroy everything, except if the surface is shiny and plastic, so that this once-charming city can lose all of it's character.

Ours is an oral, transitory culture...we have no wala2 to physical objects, to space, to material things....we come to a place, make it work for us and once it's of no more use to us, we move on...
