La Joya is one of three large projects in the far northwest side, all three are under construction.
The Shops at La Cantera: 1.3 million square feet of upscale and high end retail. 1 million of the 1.3 is already finished and been open since late 2005, tenants include Nordstorm, Neiman Marcus, Tiffany's, Hugo Boss etc. Phase II, 300,000 square feet is currently under construction.
The Rim: 2 million square feet of retail alone as well as office, housing, and more. The retail portion will consist of The Rim at La Cantera, large box retail including Bass Pro, Santikos theater, Lowe's, etc. The Village at The Rim a new urbanism retail center with a 14 story hotel attached. Retailers will be more high end to include Bob's Steak House, H&M, Crate and Barrel, etc.
La Joya: What the original thread is about. First conceived as Regal Hills, a 1 million square foot lifestyle center with a residential component adjacent. Now it has become more about the residential component and a little less about the lifestyle;e center as some of the high end retail will go into the Town Center while the bigger box type center will go in towards 1604.
This google map should help with understanding the size and location of each project.

Rumblings are IKEA will be built there. It was rumored to be part of Regal Hills so hopefully nothing has changed. It may anchor the lifestyle proton of the development.

Looks pretty nice, especially for a development in the suburbs. I liked the last rendering a lot!
