Well in previous years morris played left wing for bafana. We did well in defense, which had been a problem before. the reason our midfield was defensive was, that modise was rested due to injury. we dominated the match and won. where's the problem?

I don't remeber that, all I know is that there's 2 parks in Jozi that went green in 12 hours, one in Roodepoort and another in Dipkloof, Soweto.

Since pirates will be using Orlando, it would be perfect for me if Chiefs can use Orlando instead of using Loftus, Royal Bafokeng and Absa stadium in Durban as their home grounds. I live 10 Minutes away from the stadium.

Chiefs may use Orlando with Swallows for this coming Season, but they are destined for Soccercity.

Besides watching three world cup games at soccer city next year, what excites me more is the prospect of next years Iwisa charity spectacular at soccer city. I get goose bumps just thinking about a chiefs and pirates final in front of 90 000 of us.

i saw it coming, but i never thought Swallows would go to Dobsonville. Saw the PSL fixtures, Pirates are playing at Ellispark. The only game of the first 3 matches for Pirates to play in Orlando is against Cosmos. So Maybe Pirates will use both.

The Glamour Boys played one game at Orlando Stadium last year against Golden Arrows, winning by 1-0 thanks to Valery Nahayo’s flying header.

Chiefs will play their first game at Orlando this season against Bidvest Wits University in the quarter final of lucrative MTN8 on 04 August 2009.

Chiefs will then play the Absa Premiership opener for 2009/10 season on the 08 August 2009 against unpredictable, Santos. The kick off for that game is at 20h15.

This people are abusing this stadium. two to three games per week. MTN8 final, Chiefs vs Arrows on Wed, then Chiefs vs Pirates on Saturday. the grass is deteriorating. This is abuse at gross.

PSL to fix Orlando pitch

After complaints from team officials over the state of the pitch at Orlando Stadium, the PSL has taken it upon themselves to sort out the grass problem over the next three weeks.
Teams have been complaining that the playing surface is not flat and that this makes it difficult for players.

PSL COO Professor Ronnie Schloss confirms to KickOff.com that the last game to be played on the stadium will be on Sunday when Pirates take on Bloemfontein Celtic.

“We have asked the teams that use Orlando Stadium not do so until we finish the works at the stadium. We know it will be an inconvenience to them but we have to upgrade the stadium to the required standards.”

Schloss adds that the renovations may take between three weeks to a month.

Fortunately, during the three weeks no local League games were scheduled for Orlando because it is a Fifa week and after that both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs who use the stadium as a home ground will be playing away.

Pretoria - The Bulls will create history if they qualify for the Super 14 semifinals and finals this year by playing the crucial matches in Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

The current Super 14 leaders confirmed they had signed an agreement with Stadium Management South Africa (Pty) Ltd and the City of Johannesburg, who both agreed in principle to host the games.

This will be the first time such a massive rugby game is played at a soccer venue.

The move was made necessary as Loftus Versfeld, the Bulls home ground, is a FIFA World Cup venue and therefore cannot be used for the play-off rounds of the Super 14. There is no other stadium in Pretoria which can hold the capacity crowd for such a match, and the closest rugby ground – Ellis Park – is also a FIFA World Cup venue.

It was suggested the game should be played at Supersport Park in Centurion, but the cricket ground slopes outward from the pitch and also has a small crowd capacity. The Bulls hosted semifinals in 2007 and 2009 as well as the final in 2009.

The real possibility exists as the Bulls are on top of the log and the only unbeaten side in the Super 14, with a game in hand. They depart on Tuesday on their four-week overseas tour where they will face games against the Force, Blues, Chiefs and Reds before returning for their final four games in South Africa.

Orlando Stadium recently had a R300 million total rebuild for the Soccer World Cup and this 41 500 seater stadium can now be described as a modern one. It will also host the official FIFA concert to celebrate the start of the 2010 Soccer World Cup.

The CEO of Stadium Management South Africa (Pty) Ltd, Jacques Grobbelaar said of this possible venture: “Together we are going to make history.”

The Blue Bulls Company will iron out the finer details with regards to tickets, transport and communicate in good time with their suite holders, season ticket holders, supporters, and other relevant parties.

I think that this is a great idea, and step in the right direction in soccer/rugby relations. To be honest, I thought about Orlando (since it won't host soccer in the WC), but didn't think that the Ble Bulls Company would 'dare' to do it. I was also worried that they may try to delay a venue choice and then 'fight' for Loftus.

All I can say is "Well done Blue Bulls Company", this is a great move!

I think that it's a great move, yes it's a loss of 10 000 seats, but think of the PR spin off.

One question though, is there enough space for the in-goal area? I assume so, but I doubt that this stadium was built with rugby ever in mind.

There was speculation earlier this year that the semi-final and final may be moved to Newlands in Cape Town. With the Stormers going just as strong at the moment, I guess that option was cancelled out.

I am all for this move to Orlando Stadium. It is a world class venue with what I believe can be an amazing atmosphere. It is a smart move by the Blue Bulls company to move the game, since the Bulls is the team with the largest black supporter base in the country.

with an 40K capacity I'd say the usual bulls crowd will probably snap up all the tickets quickly. Had it been a bigger stadium maybe you would have seen a more diverse joburg crowd.

Wow, South Africa is a great beautiful country. Great people also i,m pround of you. I am from Kenya but would like to share the pride that you all bring to Africa. Especially we in East Africa who are still lagging. Bravo!! kudos to this great state of the art stadium.
