To answer your question sir, Sogod is the commercial center of Southern Leyte because of its strategic location. And perhaps, the Gaisanos saw a potential of Sogod to become a major trading center in Region 8 in the near future. Another reason siguro is competition kasi halos sabay nag apply ang Metro Group to put up a branch in Maasin and the Capital Group to put up a branch in Sogod.

Municipalities within Sogod Bay Area namely Malitbog,Tomas Oppus, Bontoc, Libagon and people from Panaon Island. Marami ding namimili coming from Pacific towns. Sa part naman ng Leyte, some people from Bato, Hilongos and Mahaplag ay dito din namimili.

MAYOR ERIC Codilla has announced to the local media here that he is pursuing his plans to construct a city hospital, this after he and Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho Petilla disagreed on the timeline when the province-ran Ormoc District Hospital’s ownership and management will be turned over to the city.
Codilla made this announcement during the weekly press conference at the New Ormoc City Hall held every Friday, saying that he wanted the hospital constructed while he is still the mayor and could not wait for the two to three years that Petilla was asking from him.
Funds, he added, is not a problem. He already has P40-million earmarked for its construction. The site of the hospital, it was further learned, would either be Ipil or San Pablo.
Gov. Petilla, on the other hand, confirmed to this paper that he and the mayor indeed had a falling out of the proposed deal because of the difference in their proposed time frames. He said Codilla came to see him around two weeks ago.
Petilla said that the hospital turnover was something he can’t hurry as he had to take into consideration the welfare of other towns which might be deprived of hospital services, if management is turned over to the city without the province setting up viable alternatives.
“Mayor Codilla wanted the turnover to be within this year. I told him maybe the earliest we can do it is late next year”, Petilla said. He explained that while the city was focused on the aspects of taking over the hospital, his team was also focusing on the more difficult task of dealing with resentful employees who were afraid of displacement. But even that was the least of their concern.
What was more important, he said, was a clear roadmap to where residents of outside towns would go to, if Ormoc took over the hospital’s management. Ormoc is a chartered, independent city and the governor cannot impose on it to take in patients from outside towns as it is not under his supervision.
“We also have to think about the transfer of equipments, improving the other alternative hospitals like that in Palompon and Baybay”, Petilla said. He explained that in transferring the equipments, the receiving end should also be prepared.
All these, he said, could not be done in the short time the city was asking them.
To recall, Leyte Governor Petilla has offered Ormoc City ownership and management of the Ormoc District Hospital. A 120-bed hospital, the 2-hectare ODH is located in what could be considered one of the prime locations in the city.
To show his sincerity, the governor immediately sent in a team led by provincial administrator Vincent Emnas to Ormoc for the preliminary talks with their counterpart team from the city led by city councilor Dr. Rafael Omega.
To the surprise of the provincial team, however, they were immediately presented a timeline through a proposed Memorandum of Understanding by their city counterpart on when the hospital should be signed, sealed and delivered to the city.
However, committee on health chairman Benjo Remandaban said he cannot endorse the MOU’s approval immediately to the provincial board without subjecting it a deeper study and consultations with the mayors and affected residents. They will also have to study schemes to lessen the impact of ODH’s loss to non-Ormocanons.
Apparently, Mayor Codilla could not wait.
Petilla, on the other hand, clarified that he has not reneged on his offer. All he was asking was for more time which the mayor was not willing to give. “Let’s clarify this. I did not say no. All I said is that it was impossible that the turnover will be done within the year. Maybe late next year”, he said.
Petilla added he is not bothered with the deal falling off. Either which way, he said, it puts the province in a better position.
“If Ormoc has its own hospital, then we discard around 70 percent of the patients which come from the city”, he pointed out, which will ease the financial burden on the provincial coffers. The province will then would just have to contend with the remaining thirty percent coming from neighboring towns.
Ormoc City is a chartered city. It is independent from the Province of Leyte and does not vote for the governor and provincial officials. The city does not also share its taxes with the Province unlike towns under it, but unfortunately has to bear the brunt of accepting patients from Ormoc.
The city only gives ODH P1-million a year as “financial assistance”. Efforts to increase this assistance during the short-lived Locsin administration were opposed by some of the same people now occupying seats in the current city council.

Considering the current administration's preoccupation with PPP, I guess that the only chance for DZR Airport rehabilitation to become reality is either a private investor that will surely increase the terminal fee or a grant by a foreign funding agency. Kailangan talaga ng Region 8 ng international airport.

An Accountancy graduate from Palo, Leyte topped this year’s list passers of Certified Public Accountant licensure examination, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced on Tuesday.

Marvin Agamon Baldevia, a graduate from Saint Paul’s Business School, earned a percentage score of 92.14.

Ok ra man, u stay in Maasin if ur planning to go to Macrohon. 15mins ra man ang travel time and then, plenty of means of transpo to Macrohon. Mas daghan pa jud ang mga establishments that offer acommodation dri Maasin, barato pa jud. Limpyo pa.

when going to Macrohon, you'll get a shorter time of travel when you take the Maasin Route. But if you feel like going to Sogod, pwde pud. You take the Sogod Route

Abuyog - Mahaplag - Sogod - Bontoc - Tomas Oppus - Malitbog - Padre Burgos - Macrohon

it will just depend on your preference.

mas dool ang san ricardo sa Surigao. Pero, since sasakay ka ng ferry from surigao, manaog ka sa Liloan Ferry terminal. Ang San ricardo, hindi na kailangan daana pag gusto mo pumunta sa Agas Agas.
