^^ yup, i agree :okay: though maapektohan din, pero kaunti lang... most passengers ng DZR airport (like 80%) are from Tacloban, Samar and the towns nearby,... and i can't deny it that DZR airport's facilities are poor compared to the new Ormoc's airport,... and it's simply because na hindi binigyan pansin ni Pnoy yung DZR na sana ginawang World class na airport instead naging delayed or feared to be canceled yung project and that's why maraming officials(like An Waray party list's, Ted Failon, Cong. Martin, mayor Alfred, Dept of tourism Sec.Lim and etc...) yung nag- urge kay Pnoy to please rehabilitate our airport coz sayang yung potentials but unfortunately, his deaf and blind about it... :)

ORMOC CITY – It has not been highlighted as much but two of Leyte’s very own sons are first and second placers of the recent licensure examinations for Certified Public Accountants, the results of which were released late Monday, May 23.
What’s more is that both are “working students”, a clear example that poverty is not a hindrance to success and the way out of it is education. The two have reportedly got offers already from the country’s top accounting/auditing firms.
They are Marwin Agamon Baldevia, a graduate of the St. Paul’s School of Business in Palo, with roots from Sta. Fe, Leyte and Antonio Dandan Sanchez Jr, a graduate of the University of San Jose-Recoletes and a native of Villaba town before they moved to Cebu around six years ago.
Baldevia got a percentage score of 92.14 while Sanchez Jr got 92.00. The CPA licensure exams this year had a national passing average of 40.50 percent, and is said to be “high” already. While there is not much fanfare about it unlike the Bar exams, the CPA licensure examinations is said to be most difficult with only a small percentage making it every year. This year, 2,130 passed of the 5,259 who took the exam.
On the other hand, Eunice Tudtud, dean of instruction and vice-president for Academic Affairs of the St. Paul’s School of Business and Law, Inc. where the first placer Baldevia graduated summa cum laude, said Baldevia was a working student. He was assigned various jobs, including menial ones like janitorial before his last assignment which was to help in the library.
“He was not ashamed of being a working student. He is a model, indeed, that poverty is not a hindrance to excel in studies and in life”, Ms Tudtud said. One thing more, she added, Baldevia was not only intelligent was also gifted with a good voice that he even was a finalist in the Leyte ICOL IDOL search but had to give it up because he his review in Manila.
Ms Tudtud also took pride in the fact that their school had 29 passers, or 42.03 passing rate, higher than the national average of 40.50.
On the other hand, Ormoc’s homegrown Western Leyte College has two passers again this year.
On the part of second placer Antonio Sanchez Jr., it was learned that he comes from a very poor family in Brgy. Hinabuyan. He graduated valedictorian from his elementary grades at the barangay school and with honors from his high school at the Holy Child High School at the poblacion.
Cornelio Hernando Jr., Sangguniang Bayan secretary of Villaba, said he personally knew the family as they were neighbors until they moved to Cebu. “Arang pobreha gyod niana nila. Manlibod lang ang tatay ana og isda, maninda bisag unsa”, he described the Sanchez family, but added the Sanchez patriarch was also a “panadero” or baker.
The family moved to Cebu when the second placer managed to get accepted as a working student at the USJR and his father found a job as a baker there. Their mother, it was learned through interviews with Cebu media, was in Manila working as a housemaid.
Sanchez was quoted as saying he will use his blessings to bring out his family from poverty and he will ask his mother to stop working as a maid, now that he had passed the CPA exam and is sure to find a good paying job.
The others who made it to the top ten are (3rd) Seodel Hearty Tabaldo Pilapil from San Beda College and Darwin Bellido Saribay from Tomas del Rosario Academy (91.86), (4th) Hegiño JA Vellana Chua Jr. and Viktor Xenon Oliva Lequin, both from University of San Carlos (91.57), (5th) Jay Ann Dominguez Estavillo from Technological Institute of the Philippines-Manila (90.86); (6th) Gilson Ycong Pino from University of San Carlos (90.71); (7th) Don Lorenzo Perea Soriano from De La Salle University-Manila (90.57); (8th) Maria Patricia Pernia Faner from De La Salle University and Arnold Remando Isip from Holy Angel University (90.29); (9th) Leo Angelo Mejos Larcia from De La Salle University-Manila, Martha Anne Perez from Miriam College, and Ervina Suzette Ching Tan from De La Salle University-Manila (90.00) and (10th) Marian Cristy Valdestamon Bartolome from Far Eastern University-Manila, Dhexter Tajantajan Caduyac from Notre Dame of Kidapawan College, and Dennis Cabunlas Magallanes from Dr. Filemon C. Aguilar Memorial College (89.86).

^^tama! wag na pag-hiwalayin... kasi for example, dati natutulog lang ang Calbayog City and Samar Province thread. Iisang thread dati ang Biliran,Eastern Samar at Northern Samar thread...at late 2009 yata yun pinagsama sa isang thread ang lahat ng Samar provinces at nilipat ang Biliran sa Leyte provinces thread.

This thread's name is in alphabetical order of provinces. It doesn't take into account if a certain province is much more progressive than the other(s). Also, province groupings are by island, which explains why the Leyte provinces are in one thread and the Samar provinces are in one thread.

just like Jollibee Maasin, in its first couple of months, 1st floor pa open and then ning open ang second floor and now ning expand pa jud ug additional square meters. :)
