EVRAA 2009 opens March 29 at Leyte Sports Devt Center

TACLOBAN CITY – The Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) meet is set to be conducted in Leyte from March 29 to April 3, 2009, Leyte Division Superintendent Sol Lomarda informed.

The athletic association which is chaired by no less than Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho L. Petilla, is composed of the athletic associations in the six provinces and 7 cities of Eastern Visayas. The meet will choose the best athletes who will represent the Region in the 2009 Palarong Pambansa which will be staged from April 27 to May 3.

Dr. Lomarda said that the different delegations will arrive on or before March 28, 2009. The Samar delegation will be billeted at the San Fernando Elementary School; Northern Samar at Sagkahan National High School; Eastern Samar at Cirilo Roy Montejo and Panalaron Central School; Biliran at Marasbaras National High School; Southern Leyte at San Jose National High School; Tacloban City at Sto. Niño SPED Center; Ormoc City at Rizal Central School; Maasin City at San Jose Elementary School; Calbayog City at Sagkahan Elementary School; Baybay City at Kapangian Elementary School; Borongan City at Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Elementary School; Catbalogan City at Tigbao Diit Central School; and the Officiating Officials will be billeted at the Leyte National High School.

In the evening of March 28, Welcome Socials will be conducted in every billeting quarter. An Waray Night on March 28 will be conducted at Hotel Alejandro.

On March 29, a Solidarity Meeting will be conducted at the Leyte Sports Development Center at 9:00 o’clock in the morning. The parade will be at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon and the Opening Ceremonies will be conducted at 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon. At 7:30 in the evening Welcome Socials will be conducted at the Provincial Capitol Gym.

The games will officially start on March 30. The 18 events which will be played are archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, boxing, chess, football, gymnastics, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, sipa, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwando, and volleyball.

At 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon of March 31, the Talent Competition for the Mr. & Miss EVRAA will be staged at the Regional Teachers Training Center of the DepEd Regional Office.

Mr. & Miss EVRAA Coronation Rites will be held at the RTR Plaza at 7:00 o’clock in the morning of April 1, 2009.

The championship games and closing ceremonies will be conducted on April 3, 2009.

All the committees for the EVRAA 2009 have threshed out their respective assignments, Dr. Lomarda said.

earth hour was a complete success~ pati astro nag patay rin ng ilaw, sabayan pa ng Disconnection Notice ng Pupil :lol:

Last night when I went to Balyuan Amphitheater to watch the JCI-sponsored concert I was surprised and happy to see na may mga upuan na pala ang Amphitheater. :banana: Maganda na siya tingnan. Di na kailangan ng electric fans kasi nasa may dagat na part na yung Balyuan Amphi.

Sabi nila 2000 yung seating Capacity ng Balyuan Amphitheater.

Maganda at masaya yung EVRAA opening kanina! Phew! Natuloy naman yung Parade after umulan. Yung Leyte Delegation yung may pinakamaraming delegates and I think followed by Tacloban.

I'll post the pictures of the Parade at yung rendering ng isang building an U/C sa may Justice after I take a bath. hehehe :lol:

Tacloban City Central School Marching Band

i think that's Tanauan II Central School, 2nd placer, national marching band competition sometime in the 90's, they were our rival. their marching band was sponsored by Jollibee and ours (Tanauan I Central) was by the Coca-Cola Bottlers (namimiss ko banda-banda sa elementary, mula nun hinde na ata pinasali ang marching bands from these 2 schools sa mga MB competitions sa Tacloban) :lol:

btw, ayos uniform ng Ormoc at Tacloban delegations :)

Hmm,well rumor or not,that lot will be too small for a mall and just enough to be the mall's parking lot. Before SM Cebu extended a Northwing,it was just a part of a huge parking lot.

Maulan din dito ngayon. Matagal na yung 1993 atleast ngayon medyo nagimprove na. May mga water tanks yung LMWD in every schools na naghohouse ng delegation. May schedule lang sila.

di parin valid kung ganon mars, eh kung schedule eh dapat may mga malalaking drums ang mga quarteers ng mga atleta apra anytime makagamit..kung talagan merong development, only partial lang...eh dapat wala ng problema..ang schedule system ay malaking problema yan..umpisa pa lang may naglalabasang reklamo na...so this event(evraa) will serve as a preparation, what ever lapses they may be should be given a solution and be handled very well for the coming national event..:)

Unknown to many people, the first bio-fuel plant in RP is actually in Ormoc.:cheers: Here's an article from last year.

Yap inaugurates RP’s first bio-fuel plant
AGRICULTURE Secretary Arthur Yap led the inauguration of the first bio-ethanol manufacturing plant in the Philippines located at Leyte Agri Corp. (LAC) compound last Oct. 17. The secretary was visibly surprised to have learned that the first such facility is located in Ormoc as everyone thought the plant being built in San Carlos, Negros Occidental will hold the distinction.

Yap inaugurated the distillation column that produces bio-ethanol which would help lessen the country’s dependence on imported fuel. Built at a cost of P50 million by Indian investors, the distillery has a capacity to produce 30,000 liters of bio-ethanol a day or 900,000 liters a month.

LAC officially produced bio-ethanol fuel last July 15. “All eyes are on San Carlos,” Yap said in his message. “But San Carlos is still four months away. Eto, bumibili na ang Petron dito (sa Ormoc). We have to recognize that this is really the first (bio-ethanol project in the country).”

The plant in LAC is just one of 21 bio-ethanol facilities being built around the country in compliance with the Bio-fuels Act of 2008 which requires oil companies to blend bio-fuels to their products. this The blending start at 5 % this year. Another 5% will be added every year thereafter until such time it reaches 85%.

But to meet the initial 5% blend requirement, some 200 million liters of bio-fuel is needed which is being imported, according to Marriz Agbon, president of Philippine Agribusiness Development and Commercial Corp. which consolidates tracts of lands for ethanol production.

LAC buys 35,000 metric tons of molasses annually from Hideco Sugar Milling Co. in neighboring Kananga town to produce bio-ethanol. The finished product is then transported to Petron’s oil depot in Pandacan, Manila on board iso trucks where it is blended with regular fuel.

Yap doesn’t see any competition between bio-fuel production and food security considering that sugar is not a food security crop. “We can live without sugar but we can’t live without rice, he cited the difference.” He also said that 400 million hectares are devoted to food production while crops that will be used for bio-fuels like sugarcanes, jathropa, cassava, etc. will be planted in the uplands.

Established in 2001, LAC is a subsidiary of Tao Corp., a company that is engaged in molasses and alcohol trading. It has an annual capacity of eight million liters of food grade alcohol. It also has an LCO2 recovery plant that produces liquid carbon dioxide for the domestic industrial market. Its clients are Ginebra San Miguel Inc., Air Liquide Phils., International Pharmaceuticals Inc., Ptron Corp., Pilipinas Shell Corp. and TWAA Flying V. (from West Leyte Weekly Express)

student of my wify, and advisee han akon sis-in-law sa ECE..you know what, my heart was cryin when he told my sis-in-law that his parents can not come to the graduation rites this morning bec of financial strain..if my sis-in-law knew a day earlier, we can sponsor a round trip for two from ormoc just to be here in their son's graduation.only department chair who assisted Carlos during the ceremony.Carlos is very smart and is the college (College of Engineering, MSU-IIT) valedictorian of 2009 as magna cum laude. :cheers:

may nangyari din sa batch 2004 namin sa MSU-IIT, sa BS psychology na course parang tatlo lang ata ang di cum laude out of 20? parang ganon..nung pinaakyak na sila sa stage according to alphabet yan diba?..so parang cum laude na rin sila kasi na sa in between sila sa mga cum laude..maraming nag applause kasi marami na sila..:lol::lol::lol:

I dont think totoo kasi based dun sa sinabi ng PRC konti lng daw yong pumasa at kung meron man sa Manila lng yon. Ung nag top 2 sa Cebu nagreview and i believe na he made it with flying colors kasi 1 year ang preparation ang ginawa nya.

I know this guy...He's smart. I was in 5th year ng makilala ko sya (2nd year sya that time).

The "cheating" issue involves a review center distributing the said leakage. But the review center already clarified the issue and insisted that there was no cheating occurred during the exam. Pero I was sleepy when the news came out so I'm not certain if it was ECE or other board exams.:ohno:
