Two New Radisson Hotels In Sa - 2007/05/24
More info regarding Radisson's hotel in Sandton...
The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies in the world, is set to open two new Radisson Hotels in South Africa next year – one in the heart of Sandton's upmarket business district and the other in Port Elizabeth's busy beachfront area.
The group which operates 288 hotels with more than 59 800 rooms in 47 countries, already has a South African foothold via the Radisson Hotel on the Atlantic Seaboard of Cape Town and a second hotel under the mid-market Park Inn brand located on Green Market Square, Cape Town.
The new Radisson Sandton, a 283 bedroom hotel, will be situated close to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and Sandton Convention Centre; the Radisson Port Elizabeth is currently being built on the Summerstand Beachfront with 173 bedrooms. Both are scheduled to open late in 2008.
Both properties will be new landmarks and feature the contemporary and chic Radisson "new breed" style. They are both luxury hotels and offer sport swimming pools, sundecks, wellness and gym areas, restaurants and bars as well as conference areas, meeting rooms and business centres.
Kurt Ritter, President and CEO of The Rezidor Group - which is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange – says, "South Africa is an important and growing market for the group's organic business development and a destination for both business and leisure travellers. The government has prioritised tourism as a key economic sector and international arrivals increase continually; this is expected to continue growing beyond 2010 when SA hosts the Soccer World Cup."
The Rezidor Hotel Group has such confidence in South Africa and the rest of the continent that it has recently opened a Business Development office in Cape Town and appointed Andrew McLachlan as its director to build on the group's spectacular success in Europe, the Middle East and Russia in Africa. McLachlan who has extensive experience in the hotel industry throughout Africa is already assisting potential hotel owners, developers, financiers and other tourism industry professionals.
He adds, "We have recognized Africa's growing potential and the drastic lack of hotels in many countries throughout the continent and have developed a suite of services including access to investment funds, to assist in creating more facilities for business and leisure travellers and tourists."
Jakes1 May 28th, 2007, 03:42 PM HAHA! Look closer at the render... You can see how it has been superimposed on top of the current construction site. Just off the right you can see a crane sticking out - it is currently busy with the parkade of 10F at the base of this building. And top left you can see another part of a crane sticking out.
This pic was taken from a newspaper clip. Hopefully I can get better renders, and some updated pics on the construction site.
dysan1 May 28th, 2007, 04:43 PM nice to see! but one of you guys created a thread for this hotel about 2 weeks ago
Jakes1 May 28th, 2007, 07:33 PM Couldn't find the thread, and we had no images. Now we have images. Will need to open quite a few threads for sandton, but don't really have the time at this stage. The new holiday inn is quite big... And I cant find any info on it.
joburg May 28th, 2007, 07:57 PM Tra la la, tra la loo, tra da dum...

thank you! otherwise I would have to resort to throwing a tantrum in order to get my way! But let us now discuss this wonderful structure going up in Sandton. It is already at level 12 I think. Will try to get some construction pics today.

Jakes1 May 31st, 2007, 03:37 PM only one crane??

finally starting to rise a bit
Durbsboi June 6th, 2007, 09:06 AM Works progressing well, another classy high rise in Sandton. Just curious, they building ontop of an existing structure, & I see that portion is cordined off, whats in the existing structure? i.e below the cranes.
Jakes1 June 6th, 2007, 10:49 AM That is the existing sandton isle building - which consists of a health food outlet, a BMW dealership, Aston Martin (I think) and the very pretentious Palms entertainment club.
Durbsboi June 6th, 2007, 03:24 PM Oh this is where "Palms" is!
Inertia June 6th, 2007, 04:08 PM Palms might be closing down, read somewhere that they dont have a 'night club' license and are only licensed as a restaraunt, a lot of residents have complained. Palms on the other hand has denied being a nightclub and says its only a restaraunt.. Um ok the public isn't that stupid...
joburg June 6th, 2007, 05:58 PM Yup Dysan posted the article in the Joburg Discussion thread. Ridiculous if you ask me. I reckon it's all got to do with club politics - there are a number of uberly high class clubs in that area, and i think they all fight with each other like beeetches.

waltjie July 15th, 2007, 11:41 AM whats that U/C on the corner?
Gautrain
SA BOY July 15th, 2007, 06:17 PM i thought gautrain was next to the sandton libry on the taxi rank site?
Inertia July 15th, 2007, 07:36 PM It is - that's the station.. This is the mushroom farm park site, where they tunnel to the sandton library site and marlboro portal.
joburg July 15th, 2007, 07:47 PM Although the Radisson will not be far from the Gautrain station at all. Just down Rivonia Road. Although I think they need to make Rivonia more pedestrian friendly..
Pule August 7th, 2007, 10:40 AM From M1 Radisson is now very much visible, I will have to drive there and take pics. I wonder how many floors they have built so far, anyone knows?
Inertia August 7th, 2007, 03:13 PM They're on abt 14th or 15th
Pule August 7th, 2007, 03:23 PM They going fast.

Here you can see the final render... The hotel sits on a base of 9F - on the rivonia side 4F. Then the hotel itself is at least 15F. So we still have quite a few floors to go.
Paulo2004 September 30th, 2007, 09:22 PM Great Project.

Inertia October 2nd, 2007, 09:14 PM omw nice, where did u get the render??
joburg October 2nd, 2007, 11:06 PM I hope it's all glass on the other side..
annman October 3rd, 2007, 01:18 AM Hey Paulo,
That render seems amazing... if you can get a hold of a larger one so we could see more detail, that would be awesome!
Jakes1 October 3rd, 2007, 09:41 AM I hope it's all glass on the other side..
Nope, no glass on the other side. This render shows the front, my render shows the back.
joburg October 3rd, 2007, 10:46 AM oh. well then that's very saddening. why even bother building a building when it's design is going to be rather uninspiring? but maybe that's just my opinion.
Jakes1 October 3rd, 2007, 10:53 AM its a very brutal design - but i quite like it...
waltjie October 3rd, 2007, 12:35 PM its a very brutal design - but i quite like it...
So do i. I like 'heavy' looking buildings.... (Carlton, Ponte, Shell in Cape Town).
dysan1 October 3rd, 2007, 03:10 PM ^^ "Heavy brutal" is not sandton... not a fan of the design sadly. the lower levels are great, not the tower section. Its a bit chunky blocky, would loved a bit slimmer and then taller
Jakes1 October 3rd, 2007, 03:19 PM must admit that I find most raddisson hotels (especially towers) to be a bit bland. Its efficient, its clean, crisp etc. but lacks the wow factor. ah well, maybe it will look better in real life. it is growing fast - and it will be huge when completed.
dysan1 October 3rd, 2007, 04:52 PM ^^ i agree... the one at the waterfront in CT is nice and white tho
Inertia October 3rd, 2007, 06:03 PM The holiday inn next door doesn't seem to want to be the smaller of the two.. at this rate it's gonna be the same size as the radisson
joburg October 3rd, 2007, 10:41 PM Well I'm not going to complain too much - it's high. yay. :)
waltjie October 4th, 2007, 08:47 AM ^^ "Heavy brutal" is not sandton...
Which is exactly why i like it even more... At least it's not fake Tuscan.
annman October 4th, 2007, 02:50 PM Which is exactly why i like it even more... At least it's not fake Tuscan.
Yes!!! Someone that sees my opinion too! Enough of the Psuedo-Mediterranean architectural vomit for a change [and that's knowing that Joburg actually does it better than most... Orlando:-( ]. Even Orlando is on that stupid bandwagon... let's be creative for a change. Italians must want to chunder when they see this stuff bastardised all over the world.
Jakes1 October 8th, 2007, 12:13 PM Going up!
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa259/granova/DSC00715.jpg
Durbsboi October 9th, 2007, 09:00 AM I like the design & think it will suite the envirioment around it. Im a fan of this type of Architecture, so no complaints from me :D bold & striking!
eyrie October 12th, 2007, 05:26 PM I have some really nice renders of this place including the model etc but can someone tell me how to upload these pics.I have a flickr account and everything.Anyone?
Inertia October 13th, 2007, 12:58 AM just copy the picture url between this: paste-url-here and click post
eyrie October 18th, 2007, 04:48 PM df
eyrie October 18th, 2007, 04:54 PM Perhaps it's the way I uploaded the pics but I can't get the images onto skyscraper. Will have to ask a buddy to help.bugger it
Inertia October 18th, 2007, 06:32 PM =/.. does the url have .jpeg or .jpg at the end??
Durbsboi October 19th, 2007, 08:41 AM first save the picture to ur pc, then go to : www.tinypic.com , browse for your picture by using the browse function, then click the big upload button. In a few seconds or minutes (depends on ur internet speed) it will give you 4 options when the upload is complete, click the 'copy' button on the 2nd option, it will have [IMG] at the start of it.
then simpy come here & 'paste'

Jakes1 November 7th, 2007, 09:40 AM The hotel part itself is at least 15F sitting on a 10F base. So it has quite a while to go.
Jakes1 November 16th, 2007, 10:46 AM Confirmed as 25F - so still has a while to go!

Lydon February 24th, 2008, 06:36 PM Quite imposing!
Upington February 25th, 2008, 01:18 AM ...seems all these developers woke up one morning and say "lets build Sandton!".......it really feels great that come 2010, soccer tourists will travel on the brand new Gautrain from the brand new OR Tambo to the brand new Sandton skyline........"this is the first time in my adult life that i feel so proud to be South African"....plagerized this one from Barack's wife.......
.
Thavash February 25th, 2008, 07:23 AM Just an interesting note - I went to the BMW dealer there last week to get a part , and the guy helping me was complaining that there's always stuff falling down from the construction , and already a 1-series was damaged pretty badly !!
Durbsboi February 25th, 2008, 09:00 AM ^^lol, yeh it cant be a tad bit dangerous to leave ur BMW's around construction sites. esp this one. Its looking good too.
dysan1 February 25th, 2008, 03:22 PM it is big hey, but looks bit too fat for its height
Inertia February 25th, 2008, 06:03 PM it is big hey, but looks bit too fat for its height
It's still growing, hoping it has a few (5) more floors to go
Jakes1 February 25th, 2008, 06:31 PM Has a few more floors to go. and getting penthouses at the top. i fear even with a few more floors it will still look squat... plus it seems that it is going to be a mass of concrete.
Durbsboi February 26th, 2008, 08:51 AM Im glad its not going to be full glass, with the bold Radisson logo on the side it will look very cool.
Inertia March 7th, 2008, 10:46 PM Building is currently one floor higher (Holiday Inn next door) :
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p246/In3rti4/0-2008_-_FEBRUARY_-0-Large.jpg
joburg March 7th, 2008, 10:55 PM WOW that's a fantastic aerial! Wish there were more of them of Sandton! Be interesting to see how many holes there are given how many building cranes there are dotting the skyline.
SA BOY March 8th, 2008, 07:45 AM just a matter of time before the little rows of town houses dissapear, sort of like china where the little buildings get gobbeled up buy the big ones
Lydon March 8th, 2008, 11:20 AM Nice aerial!
KomSakkie March 8th, 2008, 01:41 PM Looks like it has topped out. 24F I counted but its difficult to see.
Inertia March 8th, 2008, 01:49 PM Nope that's a pretty old pic, the building is already a floor higher, and still got more to go.
KomSakkie March 8th, 2008, 03:06 PM Is the hotel on top of the Isle going to be 25F or is the whole structure to be 25F? Its just a little confusing when considering the staggered construction of what really was two separate building developments.
Inertia March 8th, 2008, 03:28 PM Don't really know, but i think the whole structure will be 25 floors. Othwerise we're looking at something 30+
Inertia March 13th, 2008, 09:57 PM Topped out?
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p246/In3rti4/Photo-0133.jpg
Jakes1 March 19th, 2008, 11:42 AM Nope, drove past last night and the new level is being poured. the hotel seems to have a 2floor loft at the top.
Paulo2004 March 30th, 2008, 11:22 PM Great project!

joburg April 28th, 2008, 02:58 PM I've heard rumours that there are plans for a Planet Fitness Platinum in this building.
Included in this gym will be a 2.7km running track. How, you may well ask, are they going to fit a 2.7km running track into such a small gym? Well, apparently the track is going to come out of the building in the form of a really long skywalk, and might connect with other buildings. The illusion created will be that you're running in the air. The other interesting bit I heard was that the skywalk is going to be... erm... pink.
Anyone know if there is any truth to these rumours?
SA BOY April 28th, 2008, 03:11 PM me thinks a 2.7km track consists of running around the same 270 meter track 10 times-easy problem solved

Very interesting. I believe this is true, look at this:
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p246/In3rti4/Photo-0133.jpg
See the steel frame around the top of Sandton Isle building? they've been working on this a lot to close it off, i thought it was gonna be a restaraunt or summin, with tables looking over Sandton.
The building is abt 3 floors higher btw, will get pics soon
joburg April 28th, 2008, 03:28 PM me thinks a 2.7km track consists of running around the same 270 meter track 10 times-easy problem solved
Thanks for pointing that out Inertia. That must definitely be part of it. And Giles I would tend to agree with you, but apparently this track really is going to come out of the building. Bit of a novel idea I believe... Will be interesting to see how it pans out. I am hopefully going to be given a tour of the building site one of these days, so I'll know a bit more then. Also am hoping to get some info about other developments in Sandton.
SA BOY April 29th, 2008, 06:07 AM the old Joburg Sun had a running track around the periferal of the podium which linked the 2 towers together, very novel for an inner city hotel complex
Durbsboi April 29th, 2008, 08:45 AM Sounds like a cool idea, but anyone seen plans yet?
joburg April 29th, 2008, 11:33 AM Working on it....
joburg April 29th, 2008, 12:36 PM Ok... this is all I could get. Nothing really we didn't know I suppose, except for info re the restaurant and the gym. I'll try see what I can find out when I go on the tour.

Durbsboi May 12th, 2008, 08:05 AM Whats gonna be in the double volume part on the top? restaurant/bar/ night club?
Also whats with the funny yellow crane girder?
JOSHYNOSHY May 12th, 2008, 01:07 PM I think that yellow crane has to do with the Gautrain project
One of the emergency shafts that they are building there
And it is near the radison
If you check the aerial view of the Radison you will see the emergency shaft that they are building for the Gautrain
Thats what I think anyway!
KomSakkie May 12th, 2008, 01:28 PM Its the corner of west and Rivonia road.......
JOSHYNOSHY May 12th, 2008, 04:26 PM Ya!
It is a bit further away from the radisson
That picture that I saw showed the shaft quite close to the building
So maybe it is something else

Inertia May 12th, 2008, 11:36 PM It's corner West and Rivonia, has nothing to do with the Gautrain. I'm not 100% sure of the render, but am 100% sure that it's this site:

Rezidor pushes hotel expansion
February 20, 2009
By Roy Cokayne
The Rezidor Hotel Group is pushing ahead with its aggressive expansion strategy in spite of the financial crisis.
The group opened its third local hotel in Sandton this week and plans to have 10 hotels in the country by 2013 and 50 in Africa by 2015.
President and chief executive Kurt Ritter said yesterday that the Stockholm Stock Exchange-listed group had been affected by the financial crisis, but for the time being it would continue opening one hotel a week in Europe, the Middle East or Africa.
But Ritter admitted that he did not know how long the group would be able to maintain this pace of growth.
"We have about 90 projects in the pipeline and we cautiously say that 10 percent to 15 percent will not be realised because of the crisis," he said. "We see owners who were not the right owners to begin with and didn't put in enough of their own equity and got everything from banks. They are in deep waters now.
"With this crisis there is light at the end of the tunnel, but the question is, how long is the tunnel?"
The group operates the Radisson Waterfront Hotel, Park Inn Greenmarket Square and Radisson Blu in Sandton. Three other hotels are under construction: the 173-room Radisson Port Elizabeth, the 190-room Park Inn in Sandton, opposite the Gautrain station, and the 144-room Radisson Hotel Blaauwberg.
The Radisson in Port Elizabeth is scheduled to open next month and the Park Inn and the Radisson Hotel Blaauwberg will open next year.
Ritter said the Rezidor group planned to announce more hotels in Cape Town, Durban and Gauteng over the next 12 months, under either its Radisson or Park Inn brands.
He believed that the group would add three or four Park Inn hotels and a couple of Radissons to its South African portfolio in the next three to four years.
The group was bringing new hotels in Africa at such speed that it should surpass its target of having 50 hotels on the continent by 2015, Ritter said. Its target for South Africa "should be doable" with all the potential projects it had under negotiation.
He added that compared to Europe and the US, Africa had been largely insulated from the impact of the financial crisis.
The group this week announced the development of two new Radisson Blu hotels, one in Luanda in Angola involving an investment of $80 million (R818 million) and the other a $40 million hotel in Lusaka in Zambia.
Rezidor said it was continuing to pursue the development of hotels in South Africa, Namibia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Nigeria, as well as the Indian Ocean Islands.
It has tripled its African hotel portfolio in the past two years through the investment of more than $80 million in the addition of 18 hotels.
It has 25 hotels and about 6 000 rooms open and under development in 13 countries in Africa and operates five hotel brands, namely Radisson Blu, Park Inn, Hotel Missoni, Regent and Country Inn.

Redizor to add more hotels
Kgomotso Mathe
Posted to the web on: 24 February 2009
HOTEL company Redizor Hotel Group, which opened a new hotel in Sandton last week, has announced plans to add two more hotels in SA.
They will be operational by the time the country hosts the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
Its latest addition is the Radisson Blu in Sandton, which has 212 standard rooms, 32 suites, 45 business-class rooms and a luxury suite.
CEO Kurt Ritter said the company would open another 500-room hotel in the Sandton area because there was still huge demand for hotel accommodation.
Another hotel would be opened in Port Elizabeth, one of the major venues of the 2010 soccer extravaganza.
The group operates under the Radisson Blu, Country Inn, Misson, Park Inn and Regent hotel brands. Ritter said the expansion in SA was part of a continental strategy to become one of the biggest hotel operators in Africa.
“We will be opening another hotel soon in Sandton because we feel this area has got a lot of growth potential,” said Ritter. “Obviously we were eager to get the hotels up and running after hearing that South Africa will be hosting the 2010 tournament. But we intend to continue being a full-house hotel even after the event,” he said.
The group has a total of 360 hotels and has been on average opening between 25 to 50 hotels worldwide every year.
Pule February 26th, 2009, 07:34 AM ^^ I really don't understand as to why Raddison's hotels in SA get such plain design while they build nice structures in other countries.

Gulivar February 27th, 2009, 01:36 AM The Radissons in Scandinavia (where they're from) look just as plain and simple as all the others they build everywhere else.

Radisson Blu Hotel Sandton celebrates Grand Opening
New hotel offers complete luxury for business and leisure travelers in Johannesburg
The Radisson Blu Hotel Sandton in the South African city Johannesburg has celebrated its glamorous Grand Opening. The hotel which is the landmark building in the recently developed Sandton Isle offers guests a truly five-star experience in the heart of Sandton. “We are proud to open our doors to guests who will enjoy European contemporary style rooms and elegant public spaces resulting in the creation of a truly innovative lifestyle” says District Director of Southern Africa and General Manager, Maarten van den Nieuwenhuijsen.
All 290 guest rooms have individual climate control, flat screen LCD television, en-suite bathrooms with bath and shower facilities, comfortable work stations and free high speed wireless internet access. The design reflects a clean, cool style and incorporates the sophistication and elegance of other Radisson hotels, while introducing a unique South African feel that is reflective of van den Nieuwenhuijsen and his staff’s “Yes, I Can!” attitude. “It’s about creating an experience for our guests, a sense that anything is possible and that we are there to ensure it happens,” he says.
Conveniently located within the exclusive Sandton Isle development in Rivonia Road, the hotel is within walking distance of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and major banking institutions and is a focus point for the area. “The Radisson Blu Sandton has forever changed the skyline of Sandton and we wanted a hotel culture that reflects the key place the hotel has taken in the city,” says van den Nieuwenhuijsen. “Radisson Blu is all about the comfort of our guests and meeting their needs – and the Sandton hotel will exemplify this, both physically and in terms of the staff attitude and culture.”
Amenities are first class offering a full-service experience to guests for business or leisure. Pride of place goes to the first-class Vivace restaurant, which serves cutting edge, top quality Italian food that van den Nieuwenhuijsen says will be the best in the city. Executive chef Paul Gindra is part of the multiple gold-medal winning South African team at the Culinary Olympics, which took place in Germany this year.
Located on the 9th floor, an elegant outdoor swimming pool and sun deck is the ideal place to enjoy the African sunshine. Run by ONEwellness Spa and Platinum Planet Fitness Gym, the hotel houses a modern wellness centre along with a spacious fitness centre (5000 m²). Guests looking to get their heart racing can enjoy a run on the fabulous indoor/outdoor jogging circuit which snakes in and out of the hotel's public areas.

Jakes1 May 20th, 2009, 03:46 PM Recently had the pleasure to visit this hotel... Actually more intimate than I expected! Friendly staff, large rooms - would be great if they could get the construction noise under control at some stage!
View over the Park (and the Gautrain Tunnel entrance into Sandton Central).

Radisson Debuts in Jo’Burg with Hip European Flourish
News - 7th May 2009
The first of two Radisson hotels to be designed by interior design company, MKV Design, for the business centre of Johannesburg has just been officially opened. The Radisson Blu Hotel Sandton is 15 floors of truly original design in a newly built tower with a large independent spa below and two floors of penthouses above. It is a hotel that breaks the mould of the city’s previous hotel design in its youthful and confidently hip interpretation of cosmopolitan tastes today, creating a connection for its guests with modern Europe while offering a feast of city views on all sides.
Restaurant
From the lobby level upwards, The Radisson Blu Sandton wraps around a central atrium that soars up all 15 levels of the hotel with guestrooms accessed from atrium-side corridors. The designers played with the basic square design of the atrium, skilfully layering it to great dramatic effect.
One of the facades has been clad with mirror that curves in incremental steps upwards and over the height of the space. Runs of concealed lighting circumvent the atrium at each level sending out regularly changing beams of coloured light that transform the mirrored wall into a glittering sculpture presiding over the lobby area below. A galaxy of spheres, suspended from the ceiling, appears to float through the upper levels of the space like moons, capturing and converting the lighting into ever changing shadows across the entire space.
Below, the main lobby lounge is the “happening” place. It is a large multi-functional space for people who want to see and be seen with its intentionally exaggerated and vivid furniture – an eye-catching all-sorts of seating and occasional tables, from large, organically shaped sofas to oversize wing-backed chairs and neat seating pods. The lobby is designed to meet today’s preference for an informal and inclusive lifestyle but it cleverly avoids the risk of one group disrupting another by creating “corners of activity”. A wall of specially designed banquette seating, for example, helps determine a quiet area for sitting and working. The banquettes are divided into sections by glass bookshelves and each section has a small pod table suited to laptop working. The effect is a sense of privacy without complete separation from the theatre of the atrium. Another “corner” offers the focus of a fireplace and an area for quiet conversation.
South Africa is famed for its wine, and at The Radisson Blu Sandton, the wine display is an entire glass room leading from the atrium lobby and providing passage to the Vivace Restaurant. Here, the use of the bold colours of Africa against a neutral background continues with fiery tones of red and orange predominating in the upholstery and accessories. The restaurant provides all-day dining and its use of varied shapes, artworks and lighting work as well at breakfast as at night -time. Notable features include a striking moulded white corian breakfast buffet table and specially designed glass sculptures, like dancing flames, inset into the wall.
The conference and meeting rooms, comprising two ballrooms and eight private rooms, span an entire floor. The Radisson Blu Sandton is primarily a business hotel, and there is every bit as much attention given to the design of this floor as to the public spaces. Here, the design is functional but not utilitarian; it is sleek and contemporary with a combination of geometric and organic shapes and striking original artwork. Imposing full height banquette seats with integral down lighters line the corridor walls – an innovative, and very practical, feature providing additional soundproofing as well as a place to sit and compare notes.
The design of the 290 guestrooms, including 33 suites, follows two schemes, one of which is more youthful and the other with a quieter décor and more conventional styling. Both room types celebrate the fabulous cityscape outside as the layout of the room naturally draws guests to the view through the window. The hotel also has one of the loveliest outdoor pools in Johannesburg, with more stunning views and a large deck and graceful pool bar alongside.
All of the many pieces of art throughout the hotel were commissioned locally and comprise a mix of media – black and white photography, printed canvases and bronze sculptures, as well as the glasswork in the restaurant.

thats cool. want to try this hotel out for 2 nights. the rooms are cool. very simple. you should see the ghastly things some hotels come up with when they try to hard.
willayster September 14th, 2009, 04:08 PM jeezlike, this place is awesome. had the wedding reception on the 12th floor, the views are amazing, will post pics as soon as my gf emails me. sandton is looking amazing, the new holiday inn is nice, and the nedbank extension has given rivonia some much needed density. the hotel staff at the reception were very well trained - tip of the hat.

waltjie September 14th, 2009, 04:49 PM ^^ Didn't you just LOVE the bathrooms???
willayster September 14th, 2009, 04:54 PM on the 12th floor? uhm, the vino was flowing (it being the wedding and all), so i frequented the gents on several occassions, i remember it being modern and slick but not mind blowing. maybe you were in the lobby bathrooms? there is a dedicated lift from the parking basement to the 12th floor, only went to the lobby when we went home.
jis bru, the jozi crew know how to have a bash, dr victor and the rasta rebels were the main act, just ginger also played. what a jol!
Durbsboi September 15th, 2009, 09:05 AM Shite impressive hotel, how often does the atrium change colour?

Holiday Inn looks pretty cool when its all lit up at night too! not sure about the green though, at first glance people might think its a mosque
SA BOY September 15th, 2009, 10:00 AM gott abe kuk living in those townhouses next to HI with massive amounts of ambient light
willayster September 15th, 2009, 11:37 AM never knew those townhouses existed. random location, similar to the old english style units on the cnr of revonia and west? not sure if its west, same rd as citigroup.
joburg September 15th, 2009, 12:18 PM ^^ Yah bet they're holding on to them for dear life. Nice photos Willayster! Sandton is looking more and more bulky as the days go by!
willayster September 15th, 2009, 02:41 PM thanks.
is there still strong demand for apartments in the sandton central area? for instance strathavon?
joburg September 15th, 2009, 03:40 PM Yah for sure. For many people it means you don't have to sit in traffic getting to work. And when the Gautrain comes along, and the Sandton City expansion is finished, these places will be incredibly valuable.
Durbsboi September 16th, 2009, 08:29 AM Yip Im still looking for something decent, if my cousin sells up I'd probably buy her flat on West south North road, (what ever that blody road's name is)
Mo Rush September 17th, 2009, 12:09 AM they balls that go up and down. they could attach people to them :)
Durbsboi September 17th, 2009, 09:40 AM do they seriously go up and down? this I got to see!
willayster September 17th, 2009, 04:48 PM you mean west road south.. haha - that is the most lani road in the golden circle imo. i have 1 bedroom place in strathavon, in linden street, the rental yield is pretty good. good to hear that u guys rate the area is a winner.
richard333 September 30th, 2009, 12:03 PM this was a really great project to work on, despite all the arguements and stuff, the job went smoothly and from our side, we did a pretty good job!
