Nixoderm June 2nd, 2007, 01:10 AM Not exactly but pretty similar, the architect's got lazy! This is Nigeria's first real skyscraper so you would expect something like this but I think its sexy!!
Bond James Bond June 2nd, 2007, 03:15 AM Great news! I like it!
Artemis June 2nd, 2007, 03:17 AM by the way.. i like it too. :okay:
Nixoderm June 2nd, 2007, 03:20 AM Banana Island is not an offshore development it is part of Lagos Island and is situated inshore at the Lagos Lagoon/Five Crow Creek :) ..and the "Abuja Millenium Tower" you are talking about is just alive in your (and some others) dreams.
1, Yes alive, when it is under construction!!!

^^ The tower and its construction site. The tower is the structure right beside the building..
2, Banana Island is a planned Banana Shaped Island South West of Ikoyi!!
http://www.chagouryconstruction.com/cmpts/bananaisland_pic.jpg
Banana island is a joint venture development between the Construction Division of the Chagoury Group and the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.
Banana Island is a choice location at the South West of Ikoyi. The island is accessed via an existing road network and occupies a sand filled area of approximately 1,630,000 square metres.
The Island has been zoned into 536 plots consisting of 100 closes, which serve to enhance the banana shape of the island.
Plot sizes range from 1000 square metres to 4000 square metres. The island is designed for a mixed development with plots for residential, commercial, recreational areas, a main piazza, primary and secondary schools, fire and police stations, clinics, hotels and club-houses.
Utilities offered include underground electrical systems, an underground water supply network, central sewage system and treatment plant, street lighting and satellite telecommunications networks, as well as overhead and storm water covered drainage.
Ekumenopolis June 2nd, 2007, 03:34 AM The impressive fact about this very-usual building is that height.. in Africa! Congrats, Nigerians!:)
Artemis June 2nd, 2007, 03:36 AM Abuja will also get a $500 million tower called "Abuja Millenium Tower".
i can see the construction site of the Cultural Center in Abuja (and a renderpic with its landmark tower which Matthias O. belives it is not the Millenium Tower - regarding to his older posts in this forum!)... :ohno: but i cant see this 500$mio Tower he is talking about.
Tbite June 2nd, 2007, 12:08 PM The Stratosphere has a nice facade. I think the tower is reflective of the new Nigeria, the emerging Gaint!! :cheers2:
Matthias Offodile June 2nd, 2007, 06:32 PM As far as Banana Island is concerned
Victoria Island is an island devided by the sea, thats the reason for the many bridges in the area. and there are many sub islands around it such as Banana Island,Tin Can Island, and Snake Island. Banana Island is a choice location at the South West of Ikoyi. The island is accessed via an existing road network and occupies a sand filled area of approximately 1,630,000 square metres.
As far as the Abuja Millenium Tower is concerned it was approved last year. Even the English press featured an article about it. The construction costs for that project are close to $500 million. It sparked off a lot of controversy in the country. I have been looking for the particular article just to prove it, but I currently can´t find it!
goschio June 2nd, 2007, 06:42 PM Cool tower, very classic.
Nixoderm June 2nd, 2007, 08:56 PM Wow, now only for more of these to blossom in Lagos!!
Jim856796 July 23rd, 2007, 08:43 AM If this surpasses NECOM House as the tallest building in all of Lagos, I hope various other skyscrapers taller or shorter than this can be built. NECOM House is about 140 metres tall.
VegasCharlie July 23rd, 2007, 08:53 AM oooooohhh... i thought they were building another tower in Vegas...
This one looks great though
chinatown July 23rd, 2007, 12:27 PM nice addition for Nigeria, but it looks like a copycat of the 777 tower in LA.
-Corey- July 24th, 2007, 01:09 AM How tall is it?
Sentient Seas July 24th, 2007, 03:50 AM It has a good design, and is overall a very nice looking tower.
TroyBoy July 25th, 2007, 02:04 AM I really like the bluish color, but the names already taken.
khalek July 25th, 2007, 10:52 AM this one is really important for Nigeria... i'm lookin forward to it
