Strange, no hotels from Nairobi, egypt, or cities in morrocco in that top ten list?

Btw, is it an official list of just the top ten hotel you happen to know?

Nah Nairobi hotels don't make the list in terms of room size. Most of them are around the 200-300 room size.

Probably not one of the biggest, but one of my favorites (I've been here too!)
The Ambassador Hotel in Hargeisa, which is part of the unrecognized state of Somaliland.

It's got a pool, tennis, nice restaurants, and it's on top of a hill, so you can see the entire city.

Sheraton Addis Hotel & Towers - ***** - 295 rooms - built 1998 - Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

This hotel was built by Dubai-owned Midroc and took 4 years to build. It's one of the only two Luxury Collection by Sheraton hotels in Africa. The other one is the 145-room Arabella Western Cape Hotel & Spa at Botriver Estuary near Hermanus in South Africa which was opened in 2001.

I thought Sun city was just a collection of casinos. Other than the five hotels, what else does this resort have?

It's a massive resort with i think 5 hotels, all linked with monorail. It has a casino, entertainment centre, restaurants, and a giant concert hall called the Super Bowl where international and big concerts are held. It also has a Gary Player signature golf course where the Nedbank golf challenge is played every year. It has tons of stuff to do, including many water slides, a huge wave pool, skiing, etc...

Hate to bump this thread, but the list shows that large hotels (those with over 400 or 500 rooms) are rare in the African continent. Even the hotels in the continent currently under construction are a lot smaller than 400 units.

Hard to imagine any resort offering more than Sun City - it even has the excellent Pilansberg Game reserve adjacent to it - and the wave beach is really still one of the best anywhere.
And it's all one resort, totalling well over 1000 rooms, so it's Africa's flagship I would say...although I will stand to be corrected.
If we included Mauritius, things might get interesting!

I've seen a list with South Africa's largest hotels, and the largest hotels in Africa's Subsaharan Region (which includes South Africa), then I wish there were a list of largest hotels in Northern Africa.
